I'm lucky to have all these programs at work and I will agree with you with the results 100%...😁

You are lucky! It would be nice if someone could develop one program to tackle all camera files and subject matter. Maybe one day….🤞🏻 Thanks for watching Terry!

Thanks for that comparison. I have Topaz and DXO as well as LR Denoise. I think performance also depends on what kind of files you process, and how high the ISO is (or how much you have to push the exposure). I use a Z7-II, Z8 and D850. I've got a ton of photos from indoor shots at the Alhambra and similar places in Spain, with lots of intricate details, and so far I only used LR Denoise for those photos. It does such a good job on these files. I should note that almost none of those files has really high ISO, usually just around 400-2000, sometimes a little higher. I use the Denoise at a setting of 40 for these files and it works great.
DXO is a bit clunky to use from within LR, Topaz is a little easier I believe. Topaz gives more options, but I feel that many options can introduce artifacts and one needs to be careful to get the settings right. DXO is pretty straight forward and I tend to batch process files before I start editing them in LR. I agree with you that DXO is the winner for birds/wildlife subjects, though I haven't had a chance to really try LR Denoise on those photos. All of them require good computer hardware, my MacBook Pro M2 does a good job, my PC using a Nvidia RTX 2070 is a little faster.

Thanks for your comment and watching! Definitely need a fast computer these days!

Nice comparison. I only shoot Z9 and post process with a MacBook Pro ( about 5 yrs old). I think the results one gets depends on the photo file subject, background, camera/lens combination, and camera settings. Any inprovement in noise reduction is better than no reduction. Since I only have Topaz and LR classic my results using the latest versions vary so I use which ever tool that works best. Since my computer is old I notice processing times are longer. It would be nice to have noted the differences.

You are absolutely correct Ed. All of those factors play into the success of the noise removal software. I didn’t even think of timing it…that would’ve been a great addition. I’m running a M1 Pro MacBook Pro and none of the noise reduction took longer than 45 seconds. I’ve heard that some are experiencing 5+ minutes with Lightroom Denoise. 😬
      Thanks for watching!

I use DXO DeepPrime 2 and found it just took the win over Lightroom, but Lightroom does a good job. I use DXO with the sharpening turned off and then add it later. I did notice that you can use Super Resolution in Lightroom on the DXO created file but Lightroom does not permit this on the file it creates, this maybe of use to some people. I shoot mainly insects and crop heavily sometimes so Super Resolution may come in handy. Oh, I have a Sony camera. Great video.

Thanks for watching Paul! Yeah I really like the way DXO handles the files. That’s interesting that LR doesn’t allow Super Res in its own file. Strange. Thanks for pointing that out!

Bokeh is a Japanese word and it's pronounced like "BOH-KEH", not "BOH-KAH" in Japan. But it's ok to say boh kah since many people pronounce it that way and it's understandable. But what annoys me is that some people say "oh you gotta say boh kah and not boh keh cuz it's the right way to say it" when they don't really know where the word is originated from.

Awesome! Thanks for clearing that up for me. It's "BOH-KEH" from now on! Thanks for watching!
