If I Had To Start From Scratch As An Online Teacher, Here's What I Would Do!

Getting started as a new online teacher can feel daunting. In my experience, there was TONS of advice thrown at me about the best ways to become fully booked as an online ESL teacher.
But here was the kicker: once I started applying all the advice, not all of it worked for me.
And not all of it will work for you as a stay-at-home parent working remotely either.
Because some people could devote their entire day to teaching online.
Some people were in the same time zone as our Chinese students.
Some people's version of fully booked was wildly different from mine.
When it came down to it, here is what I needed from my remote work schedule and my online teaching bookings as a stay-at-home mom to a toddler:
1. I needed to work 2-3 hours in the morning before my son woke up.
2. I wanted to earn enough to bring home about $1000 a month.
3. I couldn't devote hours and hours all day to fill in those 2-3 hours, they had to be consecutive.
Looking back at my start as an online ESL teacher with VIPKid almost 4 years ago, I can tell you what worked for me and what didn't.
