    I so enjoy watching all the bonding and the fact that the little ones go back into what should have been their real lives. I hit a couple of videos where people had clothes and diapers on the baby monkeys. The people were fussing at the babies because they were not eating neatly. All that kind of stuff. Makes me sad that those babies will never find their way out into a troop with foster moms and aunties and such. That each of you for all that you do. I'm always excited to watch the new videos as they are posted.

    I guess it will be pretty easy to identify Pascal once he is out in the troop: find the monkey with half an ear!
    It makes sense that the babies feel comforted by sucking their hands and fingers, or each other's ears, since it is skin contact. I had never thought about that. But Toni is a piece of work! Every scene with him and other babies, he is going for an ear, getting mad when the other baby pushes him away. Then he gets a foster mom, with two teats that are there only for him, and he doesn't care! Very fussy baby!

    I've noticed that the babies who are like "don't touch me!" end up being the ones who are like "don't leave me!" after the Mums "break through" so to speak (i.e. Ulku, Dirkules). Maybe I'm overgeneralizing, but I also noticed this with a few other babies in prior weeks. Is it because they are younger- or perhaps more insecure and needy than the other babies (Dora, Yeliz)? Is it because they were introduced second- or is it more because of their personalities- or a combination of the two (among other reasons)? I think it's wonderful they now have someone to protect them, but I can't help but feel a little sad for the first babies who get pushed out (Yeliz, Dora). Maybe they don't care- and it's just me lol! I'm sure I am oversimplifying, but I find your work so fascinating. You do SO much for these babies (and their Mums). You are tireless and dedicated. I am so in awe of all of you! Thank you so much for sharing another chapter of your journey with this season's monkeys.

      These babies are not abandoned. Most of the time their mothers are hit by cars and the babies are found clinging to their mommies' dead bodies. Sometimes the babies have been kept as pets--which is illegal--or are being sold in the market--also illegal.

    These integrations go so well and it must be easier as troops get used to receiving babies in this manner, as well as fostered babies that grow up to be foster moms would probably even be more with the program as that is how they came to be troop members. I have seen a couple of times where it did take going through introducing a baby to more than one troop to find a foster pairing they would settle in
    Have you ever had a baby that absolutely refused to be fostered and would not give up being hand raised by a human, and what did you in that case, or if its never happened what you try to do if it did? Have you ever had a baby that rejected after being taken out into the troop and got into problems with how it was treated?
    How do the foster troops handle the ranking of a foster baby? Is it much like a natural baby would get ranked by who its mother is? Or do that get a determination of rank once they get to be juveniles and with their foster mother less? If it is determined by who raises them, I know the tendency to want the very best for an infant you cared for for a few weeks and it would be a tendency to always pair babies with higher ranked mothers, but since every troop benefits by having all level of rankings never giving a lower or low ranking mother a baby would seem to be artificially pushing the balance of rank toward the higher ranked levels and ever troop needs some lower rankings to balance things out which I would be concerned that then some juveniles or adults would artificially lose rank do to an influx of babies all the time that were only of higher rank. And one last question: how often do you find a foster mom takes a baby out in the troop and the baby then ends up with another mother?
    I am a huge fan of owls, and that was a wonderful little bit of footage of the African Wood Owl. Looked like he was not as happy to see you watching him watching others :) Great shot as he swooped away, their wing span is always impressive

      @pamelabazile4681 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe all the females are fixed and cannot have babies are lactate. That's why they adopt babies so easily because they don't have their own. That is also why these babies need to learn how to drink out of the feeding cages before they can be adopted because they put the cages out in the troops so they can go drink when they need to. So i would guess if they are sucking at the mother's it's just a pacifier.

      Imagine if we treated the vets on the streets the same way they take care of these monkeys. You know the ones who fought for our freedom. Next time you see a vet on the streets, maybe give them some food.

    I know it is not likely you would notice, but by chance has anyone noticed if any of the foster moms began to lactate after adopting a baby? I’ve read it can happen with macaques occasionally and just wondered about the vervets

  • @lawanasoto6187

    I also thought this is not an official rescue place. They would not treat the babies like this. Babies need to suck, hug a furry blanket and be cuddled and calmed.

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This are monkey babies not human babies, they are all given the neccessary love and devotion as needed and depending on the little one as long as needed, evidently you have watched 5 minutes of an episode and made a conclusion

    I thought I heard the volunteer say that oku was sucking. I didn’t know that the babies could do that. Is it just the act of sucking for comfort or are some of the foster mums lactating?
    Btw... how is Gimly? Haven’t seen him lately. Is he ok?

    • @gulson9105
      @gulson9105 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some are sucking foster mums on various videos, ulku was sucking too, it’s more like a comfort think I’d say. Gimli was enjoying himself I’ve seen couple of weeks ago on a tree with his friends

    So is the girl at 11:43 American then? How many Americans volunteer there?
    Btw...you shouldn't have approached the owl. You should let them know that YOU know they are there but you not going to pay attention to them. They will quickly get use to your personality s.t.s. and won't fly away so easily. Do it rt and you can hold them and feed them when they come to visit. They will take care of any mouse prob you may have. Be great to see other wildlife there at times as well.
