    I think she was a deity, that many things of ancient Greek culture, like philosophy, or travel, sex, etc, was hung upon. She may have been a female philosopher. The poem may relate to a map of the stars for travel, astrology, or meditation.

      She was a lesbian poet, a real person. Not a deity.
