I have been watching your videos since Still Here and have noticed way more details in shows and films since then because of how you explain why scenes are shot the way they are. 10:06 "Is this a beast?" I believe it's The Wolf - which is Mel's character now, adding a second layer to the transition - It moves from a wolf to _The_ Wolf. I think the star shape on the wolf's head is the Madarda family crest.
Also note: The beach in this cinematic is the same beach from the Blood Sweat & Tears music video's ending. The protagonist in that music video is the mother of Mel, the woman with the red cloak who lands on that beach in this cinematic. Some people have noted that they used a real beach in France as reference, but I think there's more to the choice than just re-using the same reference location, considering the connections between the characters.

20:20 is a Rose. The Black Rose is is ancient organization deeply entwined with the magical history of Noxus, one of the game's central factions. It is a secretive cabal of powerful mages and influential individuals who operate behind the scenes, manipulating events to serve their interests. The group focuses on the pursuit of arcane knowledge and power, often disregarding moral boundaries. LeBlanc and Vladimir are the heads of The Black Rose.
Right at the beginning you already pointed out my favourite shot of the cinematic as your favourite too, I am immediately sold, now continue watching the whole thing.
I believe that what we see unfolding on the screen and in the paintings/symbols that Leblanc is creating reflects her plans, predictions, and events for the future. These images may depict either real occurrences or steps in history that she intends to manipulate. She keeps track of the significant players inside the noxian empire, such as Mel "the wolf cub", represented by the wolf figure. There’s also the cloaked assassin, Katarina, whom Leblanc predicts will attend the Silken Danse, and she is having Elise lie in wait to test her. Additionally, Darius, symbolized by the Noxian Crest, is called the hand of noxus in game, is obviously a big person in the noxian regime, every soldier pretty much knows who he is, and respects him so it makes sense to keep track of him. These individuals are all targets for Leblanc to manipulate-players in her game that she can exploit to maintain control over the Noxian Empire from the shadows,in her plot to keep Mordekaiser sealed beneath the Immortal Bastion. This is why Vladimir states, "Every new path seems to lead us closer to chaos." Leblanc’s whole strategy revolves around her being the master schemer who is always two steps ahead, writing history so it favors her desires and goals. (That is my takeaway/analysis of the cinematic)
The asssasin is Katarina, the Redheaded Chick that appears in multiple of the early Cinematics like New Dawn The Spider woman is Elise, a noble that was prisoned by her husband, and she survived by making a deal with a Spider God from the Shadow Isles, the deal includes providing a stream of sacrifices for the god to consume ... she is part of Black Rose. For Black Rose the deal facilitates for them the ability to plunder artifacts from the Shadow Isles. The blue beast is Trundle a Troll with the ability to wield a True Ice weapon from the Freljord, people who are able to use such weapons are called Iceborn, the thing with True Ice is tha if a non Ice born touches it it will kill them, and before that they will suffer excruciating pain. Wile it was not directly touching True Ice, the fact that Darius the Noxian General was able to use the freezing axe to do a strike without outright dying is a testament to the mans tenacity. If I have one complain I was hoping this would help clarify where Arcane fits on the Timeline. Unfortunately this did no help at all Darius and Trundle here seem to be younger, Darius was fighting in the north at the borders of Freljord during the Invasion of Ionia The discussion between LaBlanc and Vladimir the 2 immortal schemers and the Leaders of the Black Rose, happened after Arcane, as Mel landed in Noxus territory, but could be happening before/during or after the Invasion of Ionia. Katarian going after members of the Black Rose should be happening after Swains Coup and the end of the Invasion. The scenes can be happening at different times, so still we are left with no Idea when Arcane happened The Vision Mel has about fighting towards the Immortal Bastion, the center of Noxus and the secret base of the Black Rose, is about her fighting their forces, probably the Grey Leagion an army of unded soldiers raised through Hemomancy ie Blood Magic ... and the red magic wielding figures that attack her would be Hemomancers ... they learned this magic from Vladimir who learned it as a hostage to the Darkin from a distant land over the ocean.
Yes, the cinematic does a poor job establishing the timeline, but in game as skin descriptions we got the invitations to this party(we will get these in game as free season pass for this season), and it tell us that this is happening just after the return of Swain from Ionia, and became the new Grand General, and from old lore we know that Darius got his place in the Trifarix thanks to that fight with Trundle. So, lorewise, it seems we went back in time, and will go from here now on, adding what was already established along the way, like Renata was invited to the dance (we don't see her here i think) as a ChemBaron since she rose up in Zaun after Arcane S2.

Swain returned from Ionia in 986 and took over in 989, Singed chems Ionia primarily after Swain leaves ... mostly 987 from what I can find. And from the Darius Comics, Darius is already the Hand of Noxus at this time, basically a symbol of Noxian Might. He is in Ionia for a time, where he witnesses the aftermath of a chem weapon use. Its after that that Darius returns and then goes to the Freljord, tussles with Trundle. He returns around a year after Swain took over and joins the ruling council. Remember this is not our modern day, a new Grand General may mean anywhere from a few days to a few years. Katarina gains her teleportation daggers in her comics, that takes place at the start of the Mage Rebelion, which starts 996. In the video Katarina seems to teleport during her fight with Elise. The thing is we dont know if all the scenes happen at the same or close time, it would not be the first time Riot would have things happening at different timeframes in a cinematic.
If I remember right, Fortiche made this. Their style just feels iconic at this point, the more Riot works with them the happier I am. Also “angry man fist fights Troll King” is just awesome to watch, even if you know absolutely nothing about who the two characters are.
39:30 They intentionally didn’t give us much of Mel because they don’t have to and they shouldn’t. It’s too early. The implication of Arcane’s ending is that the next series will be focused around Mel taking Noxus back from LeBlanc, the leader of the Black Rose (the woman at the end). The scenes we’re seeing of Mel is more meant to represent the battles she’ll have with the Black Rose once she returns to Noxus without actually showing us those battles because that’s what the show will be about. These other characters have not been introduced through Arcane at all, only in the games: Katarina (ponytail), Elise (spider Black Rose member), Darius (Noxus berserker), Trundle (beast fighting Darius) and Vladimir. LeBlanc was already featured in her masked form in Arcane so she also lacks any proper introduction here, she simply speaks and commands the screen. I also think you should rewatch this after you finish Arcane.
'This cold bleakness' 'reminds me of Scotland actually' Yup, sounds about right. Also as an edit, its testament to the skill of this studio that your strongest complaint so far is one shot was 'two frames too long' lol.
Its an illusion tho, Leblanc wants to recruit him to the Black Rose so she gave him a test. It's not an actual Trundle he's fighting otherwise he would be dead in a few seconds, this is just an easy-to-beat Trundle simulator. Also Darius is not the best fighter in Noxus, he's famous for being an amazing military leader and Leblanc wants to test his mental fortitude.
It most definitly is not an illusion. Besides that, darius was lorewise never in the black rose and is probably the last person leblanc would try this on. Also makes zero sense for mel to see darius visions

You can see the spider woman is avoiding using her lethal spells at all cost, she is just testing Katarina the red hair woman. The 3 characters are being put through fairly dangerous tests arranged by Leblanc, the witch at the end, to study their power level. This is the way of the Black Rose and how they recruit new members to their organization.
Something I was thinking with Mel's sort of odd confrontation is they've sort of told stories of the three archetypal playable character types in RPGs. Similar to the elder scrolls ones, you have the warrior engaging in head on, power focused dueling, the rogue doing agility based flashy things, and the mage fighting with magic in a weird abstract way, as if she's the only one somewhat aware of the fact that the black rose is looking at her futures.
The fight between Trundle and Darius (in the tundra), I was keen beans to hear your thoughts on that initial shot showing it. That first shot of the tundra, the dispersed trolls in loose groupings is hugely eye catching to me.
I know, well lucky for you I've got a bulk Overwatch 2 reaction coming soon. I'm not going to break them down individually like I have with all the original ones. Hey man, filmmaker here as well. I would like to sugest you take a look at some of the lore on the League universe. Its got some pretty good stories and they are making it better. Understanding it and which characters are there would take your analysis to another level. Necrit is the goat for these things. Good stuff still, cheers.
I haven't seen anyone pick this up but the scene with the assassin (Katerina) and the Elise (spider) is very much like Mortal Kombat the target being assassinated is wearing a helmet design that looks like Shao Kahn, there is also an evil character in Mortal Kombat with several arms (Goro) and a bunch of woman type characters it's clear to me they have basically just smashed those 2 aesthetics to come up with this (multiple limbs and female character).
this is follow on from Arcane sesaon 2 as the character your following is Mel Medarda. and the voice over and the end part of the cinematic is the Black Rose leaders Leblanc (who was after Ambessa) and Vladamir. Riot have basically shown us where we are going for their next series
Apparently this Bite marks 2025 cinematic chapter 1 is one of more than there are chapters in League of Legends so there will be cinematics for it. Necrit is already working on explaination video. Plus he will see a new comic soon and it seems to me that the Arcane Ambese Chosen of the Wolf book is still available in English.
Hi Kai, great video as always. I saw the cinematic a few hours ago and was looking forward to seeing you cover it but wasn't expecting it already. I haven't seen anyone else do a lore explanation comment yet so here we go. The 'narrator' woman is called Le Blanc. I'm not 100% sure on this but the white room she's in with the black stuff on the wall is more like a crystal ball than a whiteboard. I think rather than telling the story with the wall she's more scrying/interpreting via it and gaining information and trying to divine what's going on from the hints on the wall. That's just my theory though, it could be some magic notepad. The "beast" at the start is supposed to be a wolf and it does represent Mel (the black woman it cuts to immediately after showing the wolf). The wolf representation comes from her mother who has been raising her to "be a wolf" since she was young. It show's that she's achieved that status. The symbol on the gate Mel approaches is the symbol of the Black Rose which is an organisation in Noxus. It's the same logo that you can see in the dance floor on the next shot when the camera comes through the ceiling. The narrator Le Blanc belongs to this organisation (in the old lore she used to be the leader of the organisation but they may change that so Fortiche can tell a better story). No lore stuff to say on the fight between Darius and Trundle (warrior guy and troll). But it's my favourite of the 3 sequences purely for how grounded and gritty the fight is. Regarding you comment at 37 minutes. I think the reason Fortiche are using the more 'Arcaney' style of animation rather than the photorealistic style they usually do for league cinematics is that this is laying the ground work for the next show they do in the Arcane storyline. The spray of money when Katarina (assassin lady) kills the target is Is the necklace he's wearing getting cut as she slits his throat. I do think the 'getting paid' theory is not necessarily wrong for the animation but in game she used to have a passive ability where she gained more money from killing people. The other two things she does that reference her in game abilities are dropping the dagger on the floor and then teleporting to it. I interpreted the troll kneeling as being in subservience. Noxus is an Empire so it constantly seeks to expand. I think maybe instead of fighting with their Armies they came to an agreement to do their 1v1 fight. Maybe if the trolls win they can be independant? Just speculation on my part it might be a sign of respect or dissapointment.

It would be fun to watch you react to Necrit explaining these videos after you have broken them down (When he finishes making them). He also does breakdowns and explanations but he focuses on the lore. For example how the ice weapon the troll uses is True ice and how "Non-Iceborn may die (from pain) from contact with True Ice", but Darius still was able to pick his frozen axe up for a short while and not die (from pain). Just making him even more badass, and shows why he is one of the Noxus leaders.

Swain returned from Ionia in 986 and took over in 989, Singed chems Ionia primarily after Swain leaves ... mostly 987 from what I can find.
And from the Darius Comics, Darius is already the Hand of Noxus at this time, basically a symbol of Noxian Might. He is in Ionia for a time, where he witnesses the aftermath of a chem weapon use. Its after that that Darius returns and then goes to the Freljord, tussles with Trundle. He returns around a year after Swain took over and joins the ruling council.
Remember this is not our modern day, a new Grand General may mean anywhere from a few days to a few years.
Katarina gains her teleportation daggers in her comics, that takes place at the start of the Mage Rebelion, which starts 996.
In the video Katarina seems to teleport during her fight with Elise.
The thing is we dont know if all the scenes happen at the same or close time, it would not be the first time Riot would have things happening at different timeframes in a cinematic.
This one is also made by the same studio who made Arcane

39:30 They intentionally didn’t give us much of Mel because they don’t have to and they shouldn’t. It’s too early. The implication of Arcane’s ending is that the next series will be focused around Mel taking Noxus back from LeBlanc, the leader of the Black Rose (the woman at the end). The scenes we’re seeing of Mel is more meant to represent the battles she’ll have with the Black Rose once she returns to Noxus without actually showing us those battles because that’s what the show will be about. These other characters have not been introduced through Arcane at all, only in the games: Katarina (ponytail), Elise (spider Black Rose member), Darius (Noxus berserker), Trundle (beast fighting Darius) and Vladimir. LeBlanc was already featured in her masked form in Arcane so she also lacks any proper introduction here, she simply speaks and commands the screen. I also think you should rewatch this after you finish Arcane.

Darius role playing as those who play him and deciding a fist fight with a troll is a good idea 👍🏻.
Its an illusion tho, Leblanc wants to recruit him to the Black Rose so she gave him a test. It's not an actual Trundle he's fighting otherwise he would be dead in a few seconds, this is just an easy-to-beat Trundle simulator. Also Darius is not the best fighter in Noxus, he's famous for being an amazing military leader and Leblanc wants to test his mental fortitude.

You can see the spider woman is avoiding using her lethal spells at all cost, she is just testing Katarina the red hair woman. The 3 characters are being put through fairly dangerous tests arranged by Leblanc, the witch at the end, to study their power level. This is the way of the Black Rose and how they recruit new members to their organization.

Something I was thinking with Mel's sort of odd confrontation is they've sort of told stories of the three archetypal playable character types in RPGs. Similar to the elder scrolls ones, you have the warrior engaging in head on, power focused dueling, the rogue doing agility based flashy things, and the mage fighting with magic in a weird abstract way, as if she's the only one somewhat aware of the fact that the black rose is looking at her futures.
This went hard!
The fight between Trundle and Darius (in the tundra), I was keen beans to hear your thoughts on that initial shot showing it. That first shot of the tundra, the dispersed trolls in loose groupings is hugely eye catching to me.

I haven't seen anyone pick this up but the scene with the assassin (Katerina) and the Elise (spider) is very much like Mortal Kombat the target being assassinated is wearing a helmet design that looks like Shao Kahn, there is also an evil character in Mortal Kombat with several arms (Goro) and a bunch of woman type characters it's clear to me they have basically just smashed those 2 aesthetics to come up with this (multiple limbs and female character).
this is follow on from Arcane sesaon 2 as the character your following is Mel Medarda. and the voice over and the end part of the cinematic is the Black Rose leaders Leblanc (who was after Ambessa) and Vladamir. Riot have basically shown us where we are going for their next series

Apparently this Bite marks 2025 cinematic chapter 1 is one of more than there are chapters in League of Legends so there will be cinematics for it.

Hi Kai, great video as always. I saw the cinematic a few hours ago and was looking forward to seeing you cover it but wasn't expecting it already. I haven't seen anyone else do a lore explanation comment yet so here we go.
The 'narrator' woman is called Le Blanc. I'm not 100% sure on this but the white room she's in with the black stuff on the wall is more like a crystal ball than a whiteboard.
I think rather than telling the story with the wall she's more scrying/interpreting via it and gaining information and trying to divine what's going on from the hints on the wall.
That's just my theory though, it could be some magic notepad.
The "beast" at the start is supposed to be a wolf and it does represent Mel (the black woman it cuts to immediately after showing the wolf). The wolf representation
comes from her mother who has been raising her to "be a wolf" since she was young. It show's that she's achieved that status.
The symbol on the gate Mel approaches is the symbol of the Black Rose which is an organisation in Noxus. It's the same logo that you can see in the dance floor on the next shot when
the camera comes through the ceiling. The narrator Le Blanc belongs to this organisation (in the old lore she used to be the leader of the organisation but they may change that so Fortiche
can tell a better story).
No lore stuff to say on the fight between Darius and Trundle (warrior guy and troll). But it's my favourite of the 3 sequences purely for how grounded and gritty the fight is.
Regarding you comment at 37 minutes. I think the reason Fortiche are using the more 'Arcaney' style of animation rather than the photorealistic style they usually do for league
cinematics is that this is laying the ground work for the next show they do in the Arcane storyline.
The spray of money when Katarina (assassin lady) kills the target is Is the necklace he's wearing getting cut as she slits his throat. I do think the 'getting paid' theory
is not necessarily wrong for the animation but in game she used to have a passive ability where she gained more money from killing people. The other two things she does that
reference her in game abilities are dropping the dagger on the floor and then teleporting to it.
I interpreted the troll kneeling as being in subservience. Noxus is an Empire so it constantly seeks to expand. I think maybe instead of fighting with their Armies they came
to an agreement to do their 1v1 fight. Maybe if the trolls win they can be independant? Just speculation on my part it might be a sign of respect or dissapointment.

It would be fun to watch you react to Necrit explaining these videos after you have broken them down (When he finishes making them). He also does breakdowns and explanations but he focuses on the lore. For example how the ice weapon the troll uses is True ice and how "Non-Iceborn may die (from pain) from contact with True Ice", but Darius still was able to pick his frozen axe up for a short while and not die (from pain). Just making him even more badass, and shows why he is one of the Noxus leaders.
Well I should say that I dont 100% know the cause of death of touching true ice. Only that its terribly painful even for the iceborn that dont die.
