    Even tho this video is 2 years old.. there are some who might be just getting into a nitro revo and here are my tips.
    RPM A-arms are a must, I went with the non-adjustable rear toe versions (one less thing to break)
    RPM bumper mount as well, better frontal shock absorption.
    A rear wing, looks better (IMO) seems to track straighter at higher speeds, and aids in roll over protection.
    Simple cheap, looks only "upgrade" is to black out chrome wheels and bumpers.
    Use BAM! Ez-oven-off (its in a can, red lid) spray this on your chrome and it will "melt" away, use gloves, glasses/goggles, and something over your mouth and nose. The plastic underneath the chrome is black.
    Motorsaver air filter, and outer saver.. Stock filter will require changing/cleaning almost every tank depending where you are driving... with the MS filter, I could run in muddy wet (but not under water lol) conditions, ALL DAY and not even have to look at the filter.
    The upgraded "red anodized" steering links, and pushrods (they come in other colours but thats the easiest way to describe it) being out near the arms, they are likely to cop a hiding as when you crash, it will usually be one corner that hits first and hard, and will break stock a-arms, and as a result toe/steering links and push rods will get bent.
    The upgraded arms are just stronger and less prone to bending. You can bend the stock ones back but it will be more prone to bending again and again.
    Oils.. for shocks and diffs. Just cheap, easy to do, and interesting to experiment.
    Springs are cheap as chips, something to give a go and swap around. I like my truck low with hard springs. But each to their own.
    Spare, and different sized spur gears. Cheap, easy to strip, and easy to swap out to see if you'd rather go fast accel or higher top speed. Combine this with different clutch bell gears as well (stock ones will rarely break) Again, combine with short/tall 2-speed ratio gears to experiment.
    Oils, springs, and spur gears/clutch bells, are pretty cheap, and pretty easy to swap and change around. This can be an eas and cheap way to experiment handling, and acceleration vs top speed requirements.
    Now after having the truck for awhile, think... how often do you use reverse... really. Are you that lazy you can't walk over and turn it around if you get really stuck.
    A FOC (forward only conversion) will save total weight, and rotating mass. Plus, if you get the "slash" electronic box, and throttle servo mount, it will look ALOT cleaner on the chassis as well.
    If you are really into it, go for a center diff for maximum tune ability. A center diff kit comes with a FOC kit. But you will also have to purchase a rear brake kit.
    Dropping a steering servo. Getting rid of one of the servos will aid in steering response, and RX battery life and save weight. The dual servo setup will never be perfect, and the two servos will "fight" each other constantly.
    Better yet... Steering servo upgrade... something that is just as quick (or quicker) than stock, with more torque than the stock dual servo setup. You will notice a HUGE difference having to turn such large tyres. Stock wasnt able to turn my stock tyres on grass without rolling forward. With my savox it was easy mode.
    Altho my savox was heavier than one stock traxxas servo, that extra weight was more than made up for in torque. It was still lighter than the stock dual servo setup.
    Sway bar kit... I was a little skeptical about it.. but the truck is so much better with the sway bars... it will keep the front inside tyre planted on the ground where as stock, it will be high up in the air.
    Tyres.. some pro-line dished wheels and VTR tyres will be MUCH lighter than the stock revo wheels/tyres/foams, and provide a hell of a lot of traction too. Not recommended for street driving unless you have lots of money, soft pins wear quick on road.
    Tyres and wheels will totally depend on what you are doing and where you are driving.
    I used to bash around a track with a mate, so the VTR tyres and dished wheels worked A1 for me.
    Hopefully this will eventually help someone out. Damn I want to go dig my revo out of the shed now....

    Cool input, yes like to get them wheel lock to keep rims from getting scuffed from rolling around, then a chassis roll cage too it's a must

    Just got mine and am blown away wow what a beast. I didn't expect it to be so big i have a 1/8th ofna buggy and the revo is bigger can't wait for it to warm up so can break it in

    FINALLY!! someone that actually upgrades the A arms before they break. I hate waiting for something to break to replace it. Then you end up losing a few days of driving waiting for a part.

    Ok I’ve gotta see the bearings replacement video, I’m a huge replacer of bearings. Never have regretted it. Also, thanks for all the following recommendations too. The brands of bearings(would you say the ceramics are worth the money?) the transmission grease seems like a no brainer and I’ve always questioned why Traxxas says not to? You’re basically doing nearly the exact same things I’m doing at the moment. I just got a bad look from mine from across the room from mine. It’s mid breakdown. Thanks again!

    I like this truck but then again I like the tmaxx 3.3 I don't race I do some bashing but I did hear that the tmaxx is more top heavy I think I will get this one and save up for the tmaxx later on

  • @potjnkye86
    @potjnkye86 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the t-maxx 3.3 but the new 49077-1 with extended chassis and built in telemetry. It has its pros and cons. I love the fact that it uses 2 springs/shocks for each wheel which gives an insane amount of tuning options. At the same time replacing them for a big bore set is gonna be pricey. I will say my next traxxas will probably be the Revo cause I love the cantilever suspension but does the rev not have a wheelie bar? Cause the t-maxx can barely keep the front end on the ground. Admittedly mine is set up more for on road so a stiffer/lower suspension setup and since I've lowered it it has never rolled over again. I also like how the motor on the rev has that tower that protects it. With the t-maxx its open to everything. Needless to say i love my t-maxx but will be getting a revo the next chance I get. Yes I know electric is so much easier and with a high mah battery you can go alto longer than a tank of gas but nit if you keep an eye on your tank and keep it full and 1 gallon of 20% for 28.99 that gives me hours upon hours of fun is much better than spending close to a hundred on a battery that eventually will go bad. I can rebuild a motor but you can't rebuild a lipo. Since my first intro to my t-maxx i have really learned how these boomers work and nothing can replace that sound and smell and actually hearing the revs of the motor as speed increases and the shifting. Love intro but will always have an electric. Plug and play within 2 minutes in running. With Intro your looking atleast 5 minutes to get everything set out and running at 100% but like you said. Nothing can replace actually seeing the power. Again you can rebuild a intro motor but an electric brushless you'd need an electronics degree to rebuild it but they hardly ever need that. NITRO FOREVER!!!!!!

    Why do you have a fuel filter on the line going to the exhaust? I think you have your lines reversed and the fuel tank in that truck comes with a fuel filter.

    • @DeerPlot
      @DeerPlot 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your engine ran before you put it up it should only need the carb cleaned. And I would break down the engine and clean the crankshaft just to be sure , and you should be ready to go. Unless you servos are dead

    • @jackdurden466
      @jackdurden466 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Hugo, I’m a little late getting to your comment, but mine sat for about 6/7 years and after clearing out the engine really well, replacing the fuel tank, cleaning the carb really well, and use coffee filters to do it, they don’t leave any lint. But of course after a new glow plug you should only need to tune it and if you were half the time I sat, you should be fine!

    what kind of bearings did u get ceramic?

  • @tomparry4313
    @tomparry4313 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do not buy Acer ceramic bearings! I got them for my Slayer, ran It twice and two bearings compleatly fell apart. And I noticed that 4 more are on there way out. The worst seals I have ever seen. Not to mention they shorted me 4 bearings to begin with. If you want ceramic pay the extra for the boca mx bearings. They last forever and have great seals. They keep dirt out better then any other bearing I have tested.

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom Parry Im not running acer ceramic bearing in any of my trucks. Im running Acer Polyamide Sealed Ball Bearings. Ive been running them for over a year on most of my trucks and haven't had one problem.

  • @mattster197
    @mattster197 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    why did you have to get rid of it originally? ivlike the revo. what do you think of the Jato?

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mattster197 It needed more work then the truck was worth overall. I may look into another sometime in the furute but for now I took the money from selling that to fund other projects. The Jato is very cool! Fast.... so make sure you can handle it...Haha Otherwise its definitely a fun truck!

    did u increase the head shim with increase in nitro percentage

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mattster197 Nope the 3.3 motor dose not require shimming. you can run 15,25,and 30 percent nitro fuel ( I believe those are the numbers) without any modification to the motor.

      +RC Overload Once you start with a certain percentage of nitro, you will want to stick with it. It's not good on the motor to switch them all the time.

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      25% nitro has a good amount of oil to fuel mixture. your less likely to burn out the motor then if you were to run 30% witch has less oil mixture in it.
