What an interview. Garth is the most humble artist anywhere. The man only knows love for people. His motto, “Love One Another” is how he lives.

I have never seen an interview with Garth Brooks where he was totally relaxed and spontaneous. His sincerity in his words about his crew was amazing. Fantastic job Joe, on the interview and your dedication to the Hall of Fame & Museum.

Garth is so humble and thankful for his success and it's
clear that he admires you as much as you do him. Joe
Chambers, is a man the legends truly appreciate. Great
job Joe. Thanks for all you do and thanks for being you!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, thanks for such a great opportunity for us to hear the truth behind the music. We know and are familiar with the artist, but only with these great interviews you do reveal the musicians who make it all happen. This is a great interview. Thanks so much for sharing.

Garth is a great interviewee- there’s so much to learn about music and life just listening to him. For instance I did not know that Allen Reynolds was so instrumental in helping Garth in his breakthrough in music. Allen goes right back to the 60’s with the Vogues and what he don’t know about music ain’t worth knowing. Great interview and thanks so much.

When I saw Garth play the Austin City Limits and he said this is the greatest thing in the world and had such a grateful look on his face and did a thumbs up. I became an instant fan. Another wonderful interview Joe 👍🏻😎

Just love the real inside talk in your interviews. You get the best insights out of your guests. Stuff others never get close to. Real talk about music and how it’s.made, not the usual fan dribble. Keep it coming.

    Great interview, Joe.
I'll never forget the first time I heard Garth and I was hooked from that moment on. He always comes across as genuine and it's one of the things I've always admired about him. Country music is fortunate to have a number of guys like Garth in its stable. Great vocalist, writer and musician.....not to mention roadie. I've seen that dude up on rigging for shows, checking lights - the works! Not a lot of guys that committed to their product but used to be that way in his younger days. Thanks for putting this one in the archives......really enjoyed it.

Thanks for watching Mike... yes Garth is a great friend. I’ve never met anyone like him. I can tell you if you’ve ever wondered is he really what he acts like on stage and video it’s true. What you see on T.V. is exactly what he’s like in person. Best.......Joe

Just getting around to watching this one, Joe. You guys brought up a very salient point regarding the difference between studio and road players, and made it clear for me to determine which side of that fence I stand on. Thinking about it, I don't believe that I could play a single tune I've recorded if you held a gun to my head. Hell, I wanted to be Steely Dan when I grew up. Folks like Garth seem to be able to make the transition of going from the street onto the stage as effortlessly as going to the bathroom. I envy those dudes. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, Ace. Kudos.

Joe, I've got to get down to the musicians Hall of Fame and Museum sometime in my life. Listening to all of the Great guitarists telling about their Style, I realized a lot of things that I was doing over the years that I thought were somewhat illegitimate on the guitar, were done by people as great as Neil Young. I've always been a rhythm guitarist ( main instrument: piano), but I am completely addicted to the whammy bar. Also, I like to hold the guitar Up and Shake It to get that special effect, which another great guitarist talked about on your show. It really gave me a lot of confidence to hear that Neil Young doesn't like to bend strings with his fingers, but prefers to do it with the whammy bar, even if it may throw the guitar Out Of Tune. This interview with the Garth is great, and it really encourages me as a songwriter. I am sure that you are inspiring the next generation of musicians all over the country and the world with your TH-cam videos. Keep up the good work, and maybe I'll be down to Nashville one of these days.

Just caught up with this....excellent...thank you very much. I liked the ref to mixing..no automated console...you gotta play the desk like an instrument...I agree with that but then I would never disagree with Mr Brooks. Love his attitude, playing shows with his friends, making music and people show up...great stuff and great interviewing from you Joe. It’s not a given that the interviewer helps to make the interview a success. You’re a modest guy but give yourself a bit of credit too

I went to a small concert in Denison, Texas in 1990 (I think). Reba Macentire was the main star but also Don Williams and Garth Brooks were on the outside stadium show. Garth did Friends In Low Places and told the crowd it would debut in about 6 months. I had never heard of Garth but I told my girlfriend that the song would be a huge hit. And sure ‘nuff....

Deep down Garth is that little kid from small town Oklahoma! You can see it when you said I’ve never seen anybody command an audience the way you do, Garth’s reaction to that comment demonstrates it clearly- the sheepish smile he felt a little bit uncomfortable…almost like undeserving of it. The reason he is able to do that is because for Garth performing is a spiritual experience; he once described performing to be like sex- sex if done correctly is a spiritual experience (but he was a lot younger when he said that). This is Garth’s soul, he’s sharing his soul with everyone he’s giving us his soul and asking us to share ours with him- and that is Garth’s recipe. I love that he has perspective; always recognizing that he would be nowhere without everyone that he works with- the songwriters the people that build his set etc. it’s a team effort, Garth could not pull all of this off on his own. It reminds me of Sully Sullenberg the pilot who successfully landed a plane on the water in New York and every single person got off that plane. Well afterwards there was an investigation believe it or not and someone said something to the effect of “this outcome was because of you” and Sully said not really he basically said he did his part but there were many other people who were there helping from the first responders to the flight attendants etc. Same thing with Garth he knows he wouldn’t be where he is today without everyone who is involved with putting out music. That’s why I love Garth (it helps that he’s a major cutie pie too 😀 but that’s for a different post).

I met Garth in the rest room on a pole barn stage at Jamboree in the hills. A huge out door country music festival that lasted 4 days. I was running stage changes. It was raining like crazy and we called it the year of the mud. The camp grounds were full and rain didn't ever stop an event there. Hard core fans. i didn't even know who he was because he was a new act there with one record out I think, He was covered in mud and trying to clean himself up before he went on. He said some crazy women jumped on him when he went out side the backstage gate to talk to some one and knocked him down in the mud. who knew who would have became what he did.

    • @MusiciansHallofFameMuseum

Don…. I’m not exactly sure how you meant this but actually Garth helped lots of artist both Country music and rock/Pop by bringing music fans into record stores buying records( back when people were buying records and CD’s) The same thing happened when the thriller album by Michael Jackson became a hit. All genres of music sold more records due to people being in record stores because of Michael Jackson. It caused a huge increase in country music album sales. Parents will bring their kids in to buy Michael Jackson records and while they were there they bought new and old country records for themselves.I seriously don’t think Garth hurt Clint or any other artist. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and supporting our channel… Best, Joe

    So true, we want to
    hear what 'they did' on
the record, as least as good
as, I'm fine if they mess up or
skip a note, but I don't want to hear
    something completely different just
to show that they 'can' lol. Some of my
favorite guitar players come out years
after the original and add 'tapping' etc,
or change what had been an incredible solo,
to something they think might be more
modern or up to date, ackk! , makes them
look cheapened to me, just be yourself, do
your thing, that's why you sold so many records.:)

Garth so how much respect do you have for George strait and the ace in the hole? They play everything live and have to be considered one of the greatest touring bands ever! Garth why do they never get the respect? Please answer! Oh and not being a ass or anything love you and your music, but George is my man. I just think he should be more famous Ethan he is if you listen to every song from every record he has. They are all so damn good.
