- EASY HOW TO MIX SODA ASH & PROCION MX DYE IN YOUR BACK YARD OR GARAGE. EASY TUTORIAL FOR MIXING SODA ASH AND Procion Dye needs high ph on the medium to be dyed prior to applying the dye. Some dyers like to add the soda ash directly to the dye, I prefer to soak my items in soda ash for a couple hours or sometime a few days then I lightly ring them out and fold them before applying procion dye.
I'm sharing so people can see how easy it is to be creative and make old white good

PS some people put soda ash in with their dye. I prefer to soak my clothing or items to be dyed in a bucket of soda ash and water for an hour or so before I wring them out and fold them while still wet but not soggy.
I did soak the t-shirt and the tapestry-sheet in a big bucket of soda ash and water about 1 cup of soda ash per 2-3 gallons of water. I let them soak at least 20 minutes but a few hours is best. Then wring them out and fold and tye while damp then paint them and cover them to keep them wet at least 24 hours then wash! good luck!

No I don’t, I just wring out after soaking in soda ash water. The dye soaks in a little better when the fabric is a little moist! Have fun!! 💯✅😁

Hi! I am a newbie to using procion MX dye. I am trying to dye a white 50/50 poly cotton blend sweatshirt a baby pink. Is this possible to achieve this color with simple bumble gum procion dye and soda ash? IF not what will be the best dye to achieve the baby pink color?
Just try and create and learn what each medium produces for you. Procion Dye is reactive to natural fibers so the more cotton, silk, rayon, or linen you use the brighter the color! 😘🌈
What is the chemical used for reactive dye mixing? Need to use hot water too?
Soda ash and it’s is basically baking soda that you bake and it turns into soda ash. I only soak the clothing or items in water with soda ash. Some people mix the soda ash in the dye itself! See my video where I make soda ash.
I use warm water when I mix my dye but for soaking the items I just use hose water at room Temp.
Can I use high concentrate food colour?
No will not work at all. That is probably worse than Rit dye. You have to purchase procion MX dye and use soda ash for preparation in some way for the bright bright tye-dye colors! Happy crafting! 💜🌈🌻

I just googled it and it’s 3.7 liters to one gallon. It’s not a perfect craft there is flexibility. As you do more and more you will figure out what works best for you! Have fun crafting! 🌈😘
Can I use hydrogen sulphur?
