I never saw Harold & Maude until "There's Something About Mary" talked about it being "one of the greatest love stories of our time." Whoever decided to put that in the script was a genius because it truly is... when Harold opens up to Maude about why he is obsessed with death... and the subtle revealing of why Maude lives life to the fullest... I always wished there was a different ending, but I so appreciate how everything in this movie is the opposite of what you'd expect, and yet everything you'd ever expect from true love.

I hope that Cat Stevens has peace in his life now. He had such a great and beautiful singing voice. I saw him in a concert in Mobile, Alabama, in January of 1976. He sounded so great, almost like he was on the radio, or in some recording studio.

My favorite scene from the movie, which I saw in the theater when it was released, is when the priest/pastor is lecturing Harold about how disgusting it is to visualize him committing carnal sins with Maude. Now, it would just simply be a cougar on the prowl, finding her prey.
