Question please :) ... how safe is this? I didn't see any supports to prevent collapse? Especially on the side walls. Can cement bags really withstand that kind of lateral force, just by their sheer weight?

Great build, Great project, Awesomely huge looking boot, or high top, converse maybe(?), or.... The Little Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe's ankle boot(?) sitting in the middle of the dessert!!! Maybe you should paint it as such, or maybe just the half less viewed, LOL!!! Kidding aside it really does look amazing and I love the color it is!!!!!!!!☺☺☺😘😘😘♥♥♥♥♥

Great job on the build, the music was a bit loud, though.

I’m curious if you did anything special for drainage with this structure?

We built it on a hill away from any drainage lanes on the property. There is about 2 ft of gravel just in case there was any sort of flooding. Thus far 3 years and 3 monsoon seasons in, we haven't had a drop of water in it.

I have a question. How can a make a similar root cellar to yours that is antiseismic?

Earthbags are pretty resistant to earthquakes. They were actually approved by code in california which is very earthquake prone to my knowledge.

I read that as anti-semitic for a moment haha

What kind of calculations did you do to make sure the earthbag walls wouldn't slump or collapse inwards under the weight of the surrounding soil? I've seen round self-supporting structures, but I would have thought it'd be hard to make flat walls strong enough for that particular application.

Between the upper 50s in the winter (when it's in the teens at night) and low 70s in the summer (when it's 105 outside)

    Electricity cables are underground?
    How do you protect them?

They are direct burry wires. Per code as long as they are deep enough they do not need conduit or anything.
