hello .. I am a strict followers who live in turkey. your projects are great.. I congratulate your team. I have an amateur bobber project. I tried various methods of applying white stripe on the sidewalls. but I could not get a long-term performance. There are alternatives in my research such as asphalt line paint, leather seat paint and plastic bottom. I do not want to experience situations such as deformation and separation of paint from the surface after application. For this reason, I would like your advice on the right paint material and the correct application method. Has it deformed over time? Has the paint peeled off? Can you suggest me?
Hello Nuri, good to hear from you. Several things to consider: - paint works best on tyres that are already run in. New tyres will discolour the tyre very quickly because of the form release compound from manufacturing - you will not get a long term good looking whitewalls if you paint them yourself. I had to repaint them every year. They go yellow/creamy over time. It's a commitment. - best paint I've ever used was the one from video.. I tried others but they peeled and cracked. Mr Whitewalls is rubbery so flexible and stayed white the longest - if you really want to have a go, make sure to scuff and de-grease the surface before painting. - how you apply the paint doesn't matter... a brush or sponge, both will work well if the surface is prepared. I wish you all the best with your DIY project but for me, speaking from experience, I would rather buy whitewall tyres instead of painting. Let me know how you get on. I would love to see your work.

@@Maraggie Thank you very much for your enlightening answer. I listened to the experiences of my friends who used different products. As you said, unfortunately, I have not come across a product that gives full performance in white wall application. There have been similar problems that you mentioned throughout the products used. Ready-made white walls seem to be a different option. However, there are disadvantages of the ready-made walls such as breathing due to the opening on the edges while driving and thus causing vibration, and more dangerously, creating a serious accident risk due to rupture! Originally produced white-walled tires are another alternative .. ortinally produced white-walled tires are both an expensive option and they are not produced in all sizes.! I don't know what to do right now! but I hope I find a solution with the best method .. Thank you for your interest in my amateurish project. i am thinking of uploading a youtube video. I would be happy to share with you. there is a lot more work to do in the project .. You know, Improvement never ends :)
That's correct indeed. Improvements never end :) All the best.

Hi. It has to be a paint that won't crack when rubber flexes when riding. Otherwise you'll end up with really ugly looking tyre. I'm not sure what paint you could use for that.
@@Maraggie it's called " autotek professional tyre wall black " on eBay £7.50 absolutely amazing dry within 1 hr , the paint specialist for tyres / rubber 👍🏼
Hi. You're not removing a great deal really. Also consider that when you paint afterwards, you're adding material back. Probably not, doesn't hurt to check though. I didn't bother.
i have some white walls but they are old and yellow i tried everything to make them white again.my question is what can typenof paint can i use to paint over the white walls to make them white again without cracking?
Hello Arnoldi, The only paint that I found not cracking was MrWhitewalls paint. It does however change colour over time to creamy when exposed to sun. Definitely avoid cheaper products as they're bound to dry out and crack. MrWhitewalls is some sort of resin compound that stays rubbery and doesn't split, at least not in my experience. Good luck!
does it still work well on a white tire? my white wall has gotten browny abd I hate it so was thinking of rewhitewalling it lol or just buy a newer tire bit it still has lots of tread though..got thoughts? and can you show pics of how it looks with the discolor? u said it turns to a creamy color? thanks
+Danny Haddad Hi. Well there goes my hope that once I buy proper whitewalls, they'll be great and won't discolour :) I can only assume it would work nice on already white background... I've no experience with this so far so can't really say for sure. And yes, I will show how the discolouration looks like. I'm due to record a series of videos regarding VL800 maintenance and wheels will have their "15 minutes of fame". I plan on taking off the paint somehow and re-painting from scratch.
Well I used a very light sand paper that I bought at the auto parts store with dish soap and it made my tires white..just dip the sandpaper in a pail of water and soap and it works...
EL Callado They do turn creamy if you leave them untreated. I rode whole season and added another 2 layers over the winter for next season. Cost wise it's really not much per year. They don't peel at all... it's a very strong resin/rubber. Of course a lot will depend on how you will prepare the surface. Easy to mess up if you use the wrong cleaning agent. Solution sold by the same chap that sells the paint was OK... tried something more aggressive and it "melted" it a bit. My own fault, not the product.
+Average .Joe If it wasn't for discolouration, they would look like on first day. Very robust paint but I'm tired of fighting the colour. Probably will do a new coat this winter.
Thank you. One year on I actually refreshed the whole thing. Not a big deal, considering that a can of paint is still about 25 pounds and I did 3 coats on each wheel and I still got paint left.

Looking good. That's how the fun starts. Before you realise you will be cutting frames and welding parts :)
Question is how do I paint from white wall to black ? Can i use normal 2k paint & just brush it ?

Spray polyurethane to seal?
It was 8 years ago bud. Bike is long gone.
Does removing rubber require rebalancing the wheel?

Looks good. Only question is, how is in the long run? I mean does it peel, turn yellow? How long do they last looking that nice? Great job though.

Oh dear...is it the intro music? I don't use that anymore :S
nice job, hope you do not get a flat mate :D
+Reed Sirinek I actually never thought of that :D
Clear coat the hell out of it. Will last a lot longer and dirt will be able to be wiped off.
Clear coat would crack immediately when tires flex.
Didn't think it through that much.
