It's time for the Kwidzyn Castle, the second part of the story in the great series of Castles of the Middle Ages. This time I will show and tell you a little more about the fortress itself, apart from its cathedral part.
There is something here that will surprise you. The castle in Kwidzyn is a perfect copy of other Teutonic strongholds - but not the castle of the monks themselves. Although I believe that it can be interpreted this way due to the fact that the Pomesan Chapter favored the Order.
The film begins with an observation deck in the castle courtyard from which one could see other cities such as Nowe and Gniew. Unfortunately, today we will be standing there on the foundation of a no longer existing castle tower, and the courtyard itself is also not complete. Soon after, I will take you to the castle cellars, which remind me most of the original fortress. We will walk through the reconstructed cloisters to reach the place from which Kwidzyn may be well known. A long pier and the mighty Gdanisko. Right under the tower, I will tell you a short, interesting anecdote that well reflects the past animosities prevailing in this place of our country.
