I'll be honest, "Is it Thursday yet?" hit me right in the feels. I didn't realize just how much I fully missed that phrase. I'm so glad CR is coming back soon. It's been such an integral part of my happiness over the last few years. The amazing and wonderful way that a bunch of nerdy ass voice actors can sit around a table (or at individual tables), playing dungeons and dragons, spinning eloquent, heart wrenching, glee enducing, sometimes stressful stories is just something that I'll never get over. Thank you all for all you do.

Since I seen so many ask why they are going with distance gaming in the same room rather than just use webcams from home, I would like to share my guess. Since campaign 1, they never had the best luck with virtual gaming. Just look at what happened to Ashley the last episode of VM. Connection is also not always reliable. For example, in one of the episodes of Narrative Telephone during share and tell, Taliesin mentions he lost connection for a like a minute and could not hear anything. In one of the episodes in MN, Liam (who was remote at the time) was not able to make it to one of the sessions because they couldn't get a good set up with him. Plus lag will be a thing and I don't want to hear "can you repeat that?" and voices not being picked up constantly. I think overall they just want to avoid any technical difficulties as much as possible. Also, as someone who has played D&D in person and on discord, personally I just don't feel as engaged with my players compared to when we're in the same room and seeing everyone's faces. I get really distracted and tune out of the game more often during virtual play since I am in the comfort of my own home. Also, these guys thrive being near each other and it really affects they way they play into their characters. I think this set up was just more preferable to them. AGAIN, this is just speculation. I do not know anyone on CR personally. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
CONCUR. The attempted digital connections with far away team members was valorous but unfruitful and difficult. Frankly, it hurt the narrative. I understand the decisions made with campaign 2.
I agree with all of your points Jennifer. One also has to add that even this solution is not ideal. Anyone who ever played D&D knows that a big appeal of it is sitting together at ONE table in close proximity of each other.
@@vetobandito Did. Did you really just use sjw as an insult on something related to CR?? A show that has sponsored and lead fundraisers, ads and kickstarters for social justice? Keeping up the stuff you've been doing is a welcome change and I'm glad you all have decided to make your return! I'm interested in how the episodes will work, but I have faith that things will run even more smoothly when you guys have some time to process the footage, and is in fact probably a much better idea for this show then streaming it live. All the content will hopefully still be there while there is less overall pressure on the cast to preform, and in terms of youtube content, I don't think this will really change anything for us that don't want to stand the ravages of twitch chat anyways (Y'all know who you are, I'm just saying. @@sebastaroth I hope not. I love the "raw"-ness of watching a game go just like what I experience. No jump cuts. Just pure unadulterated chaos & hilarity
Ah, 2020... I can just imagine Matt having an arc planned that involves a plague or sickness, and I can just imagine him sighing and ripping all of his notes in half.
It kind of just hit me that, the players and even Matt dont know how the campaign will end. So missing their weekly game is a cliffhanger for them too.
@@zacharygadzinski3147 What makes you think that? A TPK sounds waaaay too hardcore when you look at the way the Critical Role cast plays; they were emotionally wrecked over Molly, and at this point, it really does seem like there's an effort from the other players to prevent Sam from retiring Nott/Veth. Do you really think they would get over the shock factor of a TPK and just soldier on with new characters? I honestly dont't think that they would continue this arc with seven new, level 10+ characters, and tie up threads that the Mighty Nein started. Basically, if they have to create a new group name, then that's a campaign 3. They put too much emphasis on their PC's growing and bonding with each other to just finish up an arc they've spent 80+ episodes trying to solve; they would probably just start another game and see the Tharizidun payoff late into that campaign.
@@eliezeririzarry247 matt has said that even in the event of a TPK they will probably just continue with a new party. Probably after a long week of mourning to be sure. But they do all have backup characters specifically for that. Except laura and travis maybe.
If the whole crew DOESNT open with this I swear.... Matt-"Hello everyo-" Everyone-"ITS BEEN AWHILE!!" Matt-"ooooh..... yes its been-" Everyone-"ITS BEEN AWHILE!!!"
And don't you think that Turtle Dragon has waited long enough? It was social distancing and foolhardi-ly working to break it before either of those things were "cool".
He's a smart DM he won't have planned too much ahead, only a foolish DM plans anything concrete beyond a few sessions, because when the party kills your important NPC, bails on the quest, and unexpectedly summons a demon lord of pestilence to purge the world, then all the planning goes out the window. And if you build too much you feel like you have to push them down that path and it gets railroady, and a good DM also doesn't want to cut off the choice that might accidently lead to summoning of a demon lord of pestilence, because that would be dull.
@@ashleyhoughton8592 I agree, but also a good DM can use premade plans at different times. I was meaning, new monsters, places, goals, NPCs, because a good DM creates the world, and lets the players live in it.

@@chalor182 To be fair, basically every time Matt decides to roll behind the screen and not tell anyone what he's rolling for or what the result was, he's putting Sam's brain into a superposition of states: "Wait, Matt's rolling for something. What's happening? Are we alive, are we dead?!"

Thursday is a state of mind.
It will be Thursday on July 2nd most definitely! can't wait!
"Other socially distant content like Narrative Telephone will continue..." thank god, I'm not sure I could handle losing narrative telephone right now
That did end up being a good thing that came from the break.
"So that's whose on the Tal'Dorei Council... Good to know." I'm dead. I miss these people so much, and am beyond excited for them to start playing again.
I'm glad they waited until they felt safe to play, and set up the space accordingly. Y'all, Critical Roll is BACK!!
Because they are actually idiots just begging to keep working but also begging to not get nagged by sjw cry babies

Oooooh life-size maps big enough that players can use it instead of minis. Mostly use 5-foot grids anyway so like... 6 isn’t much of a stretch...

All the content will hopefully still be there while there is less overall pressure on the cast to preform, and in terms of youtube content, I don't think this will really change anything for us that don't want to stand the ravages of twitch chat anyways (Y'all know who you are, I'm just saying. It kind of just hit me that, the players and even Matt dont know how the campaign will end. So missing their weekly game is a cliffhanger for them too.
that's the beautiful thing about DnD.
It's all speculation. But Tharzidun will be involved. Even if the Mighty Neign gets TPKed the campaign will continue with new characters.

The man has had time, freedom, and (I assume) a lack of many typical obligations. I'm concerned for M9's well being.
