Not having the surrender option is something I really like about dota. When I listen to my friends who play league I get the feeling that there is a huge "give up" mentality there. People assume they have no chance of winning 10 or 15 minutes into the game and just wait for 15 min to be able to surrender. In dota 15 minutes is nothing. The game can turn so many times, one good fight can turn the game to your advantage. I would really hate it if they added a surrender feature.

"give up mentality" for sure, but i think the ability to comeback is much larger in dota. Thinks like Baron and Elder are soo consistent at closing out games and if ur not able to contest those because of bad early game it can be rough.

It's interesting to see the perspective of other players. I am a long time League player I started to play Dota 2 a bit over a month ago, and I have to say I am having a blast and I think it's a great game. Here are some insights I gathered from my own perspective.
    1. I think it is indeed true that the hardest heroes in Dota are harder mechanically than the hardest champs in League, however I think that the average difficulty of all heroes/champs in the game is higher in League, due to the prevalence of skillshots, absence of turn rate and mechanics like kiting. I was very surprised to see how many heroes in Dota are basically Auto Attack spammers with a very high Attack Speed and point and click abilities. League has MUCH MUCH more skillshots and dashes.
    2. One thing that I was fascinated to hear is that you clealy like the Dota sets more than League skins. Fascinating because I realize how much personal preference plays a role in this category. I personally think that Dota's sets are a bit overdesigned for my liking, and I's much rather use the default look for most, if not all heroes.
    3. Graphics wise, I think Dota looks better. but I think it's very hard to compare the 2. one clearly has a more cell-shaded approach to graphics, while Dota sorta strives towards realism. I wouldn't call League WC3 graphics tho.
This is it for now. If u finished this comment, thanks for reading, and have fun in your games!

I played loads of league before I switched to Dota so it's kinda older league opinion. But leave felt like team play was less important and way less broad. The team play was kinda straightforward. Do this or you're bad (simplifying)
Dota kiting is easier for sure, leagues kiting is like it's own whole thing. When I've seen LoL pro games the movement looks so foreign but I can see a cool dance going on. I think Dota has a more broad array of kiting though, as you said less skill shot abilities, which translate into having deeper level mechanics with other things like kiting though healing/ethereal/etc.
The takeaway feeling I get is dota doesn't know what it is and so feels like it's always evolving on its own mechanics and introducing new mechanics all the time (example how tree mechanics are used a lot now with spells and items and also LOADS of things they've just fully removed from the game) And league feels more like it know what it's game is about, who the audience is and how people want to play.
Every other Dota update parts of the community say they're going to quit. I wonder if league community has that as well or not haha

a hero with point and click is built around their inventory items, a hero like drowranger can kite even though she is just point and click hero she can kite with her inventory items, so all dota 2 heroes are built around the items you built and around your team heroes, while in league almost all heroes has everything like mobility and they can solo the whole game once the champ reaches the full potential during the game

It’s very snowball-y. To the point that if you watch high level jungle coaching (like Tarzaned) he will often tell his clients during vod review that they lost one of their teammates their lane ~5/6 minutes in. 99/100 times he’s correct and can tell off of just one mistake whether or not a lane is won or lost. Comebacks can happen - esp with the bounty system - but in any elo above plat (high Ancient) something like a 5k NW difference is virtually impossible to recover from.

Been a league player since 2013 and stopped playing year 2020. Now I'm trying dota 2 and I was having fun along the way. I'll admit that dota 2 is hard to grasp, but it's more fun and challenging for me. The terrain, weather effects, skins, couriers, strategies and item complexity made dota 2 unique than league.
But both games are fun, and I just love dota 2. Sad I didn't get the contents from previous battle passes in dota 2.

  • @NitBeanTheMachine
    @NitBeanTheMachine 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I recently started Dota after playing league for a while. For me, while Dota is more complex, it feels more rewarding to learn and I can see myself staying with it for longer (and climbing to higher MMR) despite increased complexity.
One thing I dislike is that the community is way smaller, so it’s more difficult to find content regarding the game. For example, I really want to play Rubick pos4/5 support, but finding people who play him in those roles very often to follow is more difficult. League will often have several high level streamers for any champ you can think of.
Lastly, league hurts my hands more. I tend to click and spam abilities more when playing, and I feel like often times whether or not I won or lost a game was based around one missed flash ultimate combo, or a missed skill shot, rather than strategy like itemization.

  • @GiulianoVenturo

I just got ancient in dota and I'm also emerald on league so I think I can talk as a above avg in both games. He's completely spot on, I would add that I do enjoyed more playing with new friends league rather than Dota. Also I think that's the main reason why league is just way popular than dota, ppl just enter and have fun. it could be your first time in league but with friends you just kinda have a good time. In dota I'm pretty sure just explain to someone how runes works is a fcking nightmare. Also as he said grinding in dota is just feel way better than league. Most of the time league just feel a single player game because you can be completely crack on league and push top and win. Dota you can have a 6k player in your team but if you don't play as a team is way easier to lose. Another thing I would add to league is that even though you need 200IQ to make good plays in dota you need 80ms time reaction in league. A simple example is how saving black hole for another hero to get close is a 200IQ move but the reaction time is just E, R and you're cool. In league you can have Yasuo that just jump everywhere to just make one kill but is pro move because you click like 120 kpm.
So here's my conclusion, both are a wasted of time, less than 1% of players get a chance to win money. If you have a friend group that haven't play a moba but you only play dota I would 100% recommend just play league, you will have way more fun in league than in dota if you plan to play with friends. If you are a league player than feel pretty good with a diamond rank, then try to master Dota, because belive me a comeback in Dota is just way more excited than a comeback in league. If you get wet by just stealing baron, then doing something as simple as do a junk in the trees in dota has the same feeling as stealing a baron. And get you get your first comeback with megacreeps you'll me orgasming in the floor think of me.

been a dota plater for more than 10 yrs now. sad thing to dota is it's player base shrink year by year.
this was due to the learning curve.
there a lot of mechanics to explore. I'm not saying it's bad. it's actually very good because it keeps the game going. you learn new things every now and then despite playing the game for 10 years.
but some people get overwhelmed of this feature.
the new players gets bullied by experienced players.
but both games have pros and cons.
both are actually good. but then again, we loop back to new player experience.
the learning curve itself is a challenge specially to players that don't have patience.

  • @Sever.s.Server
    @Sever.s.Server 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I will disagree, learning league is harder. But it's not due complexity of either game. It's just Dota has good, comprehensive and lengthy tutorials + QoL features like guides and coaching tools. While league throwing you into hell, after showing you 4 heroes and having couple of bot games, where bots will just ignore you, even when you are destroying the nexus.
But will say, it says less about game complexity. And more about tools.
Those games are not as easy to compare about how complex they are. Cause they are different enough. For example character game-design rules, dota's heroes are more of a unique framework for you to build upon. Where items play greater role, as they might completely change their capabilities and set of responsibilities. With addition of new abilities or major effects.
While league champions are instead role based, and bring their toolkit, which usually based upon a certain way to play that role they are designed for. Which might make them feel same-y, however devil is in the details and sometimes rabbit hole keeps going down.
In same time items carry less utility and more of direct stats boost to be able to do that role well with minor, but none the less important effects to it.
I prefer dota personally, because my team is less likely to give up on 15 when they see naga support. And just rule of cool of Dota abilities as they are absurdly strong by design. But complexity of the game mainly depends on the level of play, as in both dota and league you don't need to know mechanics as deep against weaker opponent. And neither game is that hard to pick up, if you master another.

dota is just fundamentally better in alot of ways and the outplay potential is extremely big, there’s just so many variables. It has to be that complex to give teamfights etc more incentive. Something that on paper is almost never good in League because of how it is structured, you win lane and then you afk Nash/Dragon Respawn and enemy has to coinflip their way back into the game. I reckon alot of high mmr league players want to get into Dota but the game just isn’t nearly as popular and most people don’t have people to play it with..

having high map mobility is not about game being competitively balanced, both of them are, its just dota 2 focus way more on team play aspects with is why 90% heroes can't fight alone ever. deny doesn't exist in league because this mechanic doesn't work and make no sense, league as game overall balanced to be mostly about outplay and enemy cannot counter you most of the time completely to the point you can't play anymore, if they add deny between 60 - 80% lanes become cancer and impossible to play (guess what no couriers and limited sustain also make even 1 vs 2 lanes hard to play) because game not balanced around the idea if your lane is shit you can from lvl 4-5 leave and afk farm in the jungle or roam, League wants you to not leave the lane 90% time, if anything deny in dota 2 is not outplay mechanic, its a way for balance to make sure you can exist in the lane at least (without it guess what, you would play vs high dmg heroes lvl 1) its a crutch overall just like HG miss

I feel like League is more fast paced and looks more like a fighting game than a MOBA. Dota is more sluggish and strategic, you have a lot of time without fighting enemies, just farming and stacking camps, a lot of back and forth and games last forever because of buybacks and fortify. Both very different games. Lately I'm having way more fun in DOTA. But I feel like Dota only became playable when they added role-selection matchmaking. Before that, the meta was a mess, I hated tri-lanes it was just dumb. You picked a hero and didn't know if you would be able to farm or if you would have to support a dumb ally, because it would require me to communicate with an ape to get that information. People would fight over who was going mid everygame. Teams would be filled with gold dependant heroes as no one wants to play support. This is why role-selection match-making is important. Something that kinda bores me in DOTA is that I feel like communication is a lot more important than in LoL. In LoL you can get away with carrying your dumb teammates most of the time by just being a good player, but DOTA is a way more team-oriented game. I hate having to communicate in online competitive games because most players are passive-agressive. In LoL you'll face horny and edgy flaming teammates. In Dota you'll hear 30y old man childs complaining in your ear and trying to tell you how to play your own role/heroe through voice-chat. Point is, I feel like I can't really mute all my teammates and be sucessfull in DOTA and I really dislike having to hear toxic teammates :'[

I think surrender votes make sense in LoL. The game is much more snowbally than DOTA and it is way harder to make a comeback, It would take the enemy team multiple major mistakes in order to throw a lead. Games end really fast because you don't have buybacks or fortifies. When you're stuck inside your base there is literally nothing to do except wait for the enemy team to kill all dragons, baron and eventually just storm everything with buffed up minions. Combacks and late-games really only happen in low elo in LoL. From Diamond 3+ almost all games end between 15 to 25minutes.
In Dota it requires a lot of team coordination to end the game as it is quite hard to invade the enemy base because of the highground, fortify and buyback mechanics.
I think I liked LoL more when there were no dragon buffs, when it was all about getting gold and pick-offs, I feel like it required teams to make bigger efforts and communicate more to get leads. Now things get decided way too early by dragon, grubs or herald fights which exclude parte of the team, because you can't just TP and impact it somehow, so if takes away a lot of the players freedom to make plays and help the team. If a fight occurs at dragon, top laners are stuck at top. If a fight occurs at grubs/herald, botlane is stuck at botlane.

DOTA is literally gambling some items work and skills use % and shit gets stupid sometimes LOL is just get a strong item early and stomp them with one or two bassic attacks as a jungle
Personally i don't think any of these games is harder than than the other u just have to learn the cooldowns of ur spells and itemization. Hard games are RTS and fighting games not mobas lmao
