There is a special music hall in Mandeville, Louisiana. The Dew Drop Social and Benevolent Hall is the oldest jazz hall in the world and Doreen Ketchens was featured on RVoyage interview series for this show.

As a seasoned jazz clarinetist myself in Germany, I greatly admire Doreen. Old school, very expressive playing combined with technical perfection and seemingly unlimited power. And yes, she's a great vocalist and entertainer too. I hope to hear Doreen in a life performance live some day.

She plays for free except for tips and CD sales on Royal Street every weekend. She's always just stunning. Her technique and expressiveness have to make her one of the best musicians in total in the US in my view. I just heard her yesterday again and there's no mistaking her for anyone else. Even the jazz tonight at Fritzel was excellent. I hope you can visit New Orleans.

Just want to ask. why is oldest jazz hall in the world any different than oldest jazz hall in the country. America was the birth of jazz and was exclusive to the American South for generations.
