    This is a old video guys. I didn't shoot it very well. If it helps you, great. But not my finest hour. lol.

    This video helped me as I'm about to replace a saddle on a floyd system for the first time. Thanks!

      That's great Ian. It's not the most detailed video, but I'm glad to hear that it helped. 👍

    Thanks for this Hank. I have an EVH Wolfgang Standard and the low E saddle already is completely stripped after less than 4 weeks. So I ordered the Floyd Rose 1000 saddles.

      Hey, thanks Eric. I wish I'd done close-ups in this video. I'm glad it helped.

    I remember my first trem. 1999 LTD MH 300. Hated that fucker when I got it. First time I changed strings it took me three hours. Once you get them right, they hold tune. I can beat the shit out of mine and it'll hold great. that Kramer is screaming for some scalloped frets. Vai style above the 12th. Have a great weekend. Beard on!

      Yeah man! They do stay in tune. Beard on! lol, Have a good weekend

      Hey, that's great Johann. I'm glad the video helped. I should have had close up shots. It's hard to see anything. I talked so slow back then. lol. 😂👍

    Thanks. I've had my Strat with a Floyd, for a couple of years and haven't had to do much. It's pretty confusing.

    so wanted to know if all the saddles have to be parallel or if some have to be further up than others

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are staggered for intonation adjustment.

    I have an old 1986 Warlock with a FR Stf-70a. I want to change the sattles but I can't find them for sale. Will I be able to use any other sattles say from like a FR special or 1000 series?

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm gonna be honest Dan, I'm not sure. Try to search for anyone talking about the Stf70a on forums. It would show on a Google search. Maybe someone on here will know.

    Where do you get saddles like the one you removed that will let you run a string through without cutting off the ball end and why would you not just want to replace them all with those? Clipping the strings and clamping them in is the worst part of the Floyd rose system in my opinion.

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because ball ends usually slip like a noose around the ball wrap. And the ball ends can move from bar dive slack and then reseat. Less tuning stability. I'm not sure where to buy the saddles. Research online.

      @@HankCoffey Thanks for responding. I looked a little bit before posting but I didn't find them. If they're going to cause more tuning issues I'll just stick with clipping the strings though. I sort of figured it was one of those things that seems too good to be true but I had to ask.

    Quick question: is there a variation in height of the saddles? I see a slight difference and I’m wondering if the taller ones go in the middle for the 3rd and 4th strings or for the 5th and 6th strings??

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, 3 different heights. 3 and 4 are the tallest. 2 and 5 are a tiny bit lower. And 1 and 6 are a tiny bit lower again. This makes a 12 inch radius un-shimmed. Saddle shims are required to change the radius.

    Okay, so im kinda new to guitar and know little about floyds but i was playing a late 80’s bc rich NJ Strat with a jackson bridge that has a d tuna, The tuning kept going out so i would mess with the little saddle tuners and it would stay for a bit before going out again. I started to stretch the strings and the G string popped out of the saddle. The string isnt broken and the saddle isnt either, but the string’s flopping everywhere and i have no clue how to fix it back. I have no tools bc im away from home for a bit and didnt bring any like the dumbass i am. Its not a floating bridge either so all the other strings are in tune. Is there any way i can get the string back in place without having tools and without f’ing the guitar up?

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll have to have a Allen wrench to loosen and tighten the screw that holds the string in place. Some guitars have tool holders on the headstock.

    I bought a solar guitar last week
    I was so excited to get it but the high e string broke right away. I messed up 4 strings trying to replace it. The saddle wont just hold. I hope this video helps me

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the string breaking? Or just popping out of the saddle?

  • @Carlvincent100
    @Carlvincent100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did you take the D tuna off ?

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because this Floyd is recessed into the body route. The body isn't routed for a D tuna. Any pull back would ding the body.

    Saddle HEIGHT saddle HEIGHT??????????????????????????

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raise or lower the 2 posts for string height. You can't adjust saddle height individually. If the saddles are uneven, you can get shims to put under them.
