Me too! I believe that most Vikings fans have always liked Kirk and wanted him back. The vocal minority was just that, vocal, and had delusions that they were the majority.
Time will tell. I wish him well but that is alot of money for a 36 year old coming off an injury. Compare that to the Steelers deal getting both Wilson and Fields. And he is still waiting, at his age, to win a playoff game.BTW, I am not a Vikings noe a Falcons fan so I wish him nothing but good luck.@@Paula-mv8im

I’m a Vikings fan and the bottom line is that Kirko Chains makes you relevant now. Part of the conversation. A probable playoff team. That’s not going ”from mediocre to mediocre”. The falcons haven’t mattered for years. Those receivers are going to have the best years of their career.

Yeahh, it's definitely gunna be really weird to see Cousins in a black and red uniform, but I think the Falcons are gunna be a threat for a lot of playoff potential teams..

Just looking at it as a fan it's a 35 year old QB coming off an injury for $180 million. I don't really care about getting Fields or not just a bit odd. Maybe they have info we don't and maybe we get a run like Arizona did with Kurt Warner late in his career. Looking at the future or a win now situation IDK. I would hope we go get another WR and draft heavy in defense.

On paper they look like a lock for the nfc south , but he’s coming off injury and will be in a new system but luckily the nfc south isn’t strong so they should be division champs anything after that I’ll just have to wait and see
Kirk probably has the ATL playbook down by now. It’ll just take a couple of reps during the offseason and he’ll be good to go. Kirk will continue to prove that his gameplay is aging like fine wine.
@@ONLYFEARGOD99 it’ll always be growing pain..a new system can be tricky due to multiple things …Kirk is smart and will for sure be ready but things like build chemistry, play calling, having a coach that builds around their players also a whole new coaching staff …Those things are out of his control

Kirk Cousins is the Michael Conley of the NFL. His contracts don't match his performance but he knows how to get paid when he goes to a new team.

Kirk Cousins is more like Gordon Hayward, in my opinion: An above-average player being billed as a difference-maker for a new team, even though they never did it at their previous stops. As a result, they got contracts that overstated what they brought to the team.

I think it means they're just using him as a temp backup to help mentor whichever rookie QB they plan on drafting! (Maye/McCarthy/Daniels/etc) Same could be said for Marcus Mariota, who just signed with Washington....

He ain’t a backup, he is the starter - any QB they they draft will be the backup, that’s if they use their 8th pick on QB. I think they want stability, experience and certainty and they paid for it.

Would be pointless to waste a 1st rd pick on a 4-year backup/insurance policy for Cousins if he happens to get hurt again!

For a season and a half - he proved that he was one of the very worst quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen.
Ridder got traded to the Cardinals today.
Hiring kirk is not about the money according to kirk. But it means that Atlanta will not be able to fill out their roster with A players because kirk took the pie. He is also a choker on big games.
It means a first round exit and no cap

Kirk is also the best quarterback in the NFC South.
Chances are Mediocrity. Kirk walked into a Viking team that was in the NFC championship game in 2017 and in 2018 with Kirk they missed the playoffs. He won one wild card playoff game in the last 6 years. Now Atlanta is a SB contender?
Vikings got to the NFCCG in 2017 on the back of a generational defense (that regressed hard in 2018) and a lucky catch in blown coverage.

The Vikings had one the Best Offenses in the league in 2022. But they would always have close games because their defense was terrible. They had the greatest comeback of all time against the Colts
Sure, Keenum led the Vikings the NFC Championship game but they also had a Wild card bye. They also needed a “miracle” to get their Divisional win. Keenum also benefited from having two receivers that made him look better than he was and a top-two defense in 2017 that got blown out 38-7 in the NFCCG because of Zimmer’s bad coaching.
After 2017, instead of the defense staying elite, it got worse every year and dropped to 13th to 18th to 27th to 30th and then to 31st in 2022. No quarterback is gonna win games when you have bad coaching (from Zimmer) and one of the worst defenses for most of Kirk’s time with the Vikings.

Vegas thinks differently. After the news broke that Kirk was signing with the Falcons, Sportsbooks moved the Falcons to 30/1 to win Super Bowl 2025 after opening at 50/1 prior. Atlanta now has the 12th-best odds to win the Lombardi Trophy.
