An interesting topic raised was the impact of Muslims. Despite their opposition to "woke" ideas like gender ideology, Muslims also appear as a protected class by the promoters of said ideology. The absurd notion of "queers for Palestine" comes to mind.
The internet surpasses the institutional educational control and lecturers who operated in a closed educational sysytem before, being fully in control, are aware how far backward they are, to student open awareness and freedom to learn beyond the institute control
Good institutions/teachers never impede the growth of their students. They allow the more gifted to excel and don’t allow the less gifted to fall behind. I certainly wouldn’t consider the Internet a method of freedom to learn - possibly freedom from learning. I went to a “free school” in the 80s in Canada when this new way of educating children was beginning there. Although students were able to sit about reading all day long if they wished (could be a bonus), they were not pushed to learn subjects that they weren’t interested in. Obviously this is a problem when it comes to having a basic level of education. The universities were supposed to be the place to go for freedom of thought, once the basics were learned. (Unfortunately it seems the opposite is happening today). Nonetheless, it’s not for a child to rely solely on teaching themselves before they’ve even learned about critical thinking. Also, the old system teaches discipline which is possibly a bigger problem today than the low educational level.
scores based on memory in external examinations are actually the problem in education because examination has actually nothing to do with a quality learning culture
What a great panel and discussion!

Teachers should worry less. Don't kid yourself, these children have no interest in becoming "scholars".
So why waste time teaching them?
