@@okigi-wo5zm This wasn't a revival. It was its first time on Broadway. It was a revival in London, but even that was rewritten, retooled, and very different from its original.
Missed this, alas, but I do have fond memories of lovely Ms. Summerhays when I saw her filling in for Ann Miller in 'Sugar Babies' with Mickey Rooney at the Valley Forge Music Fair, 1984 I think. Tickets were about $20. Those were the days.
Bless your heart for posting this and the finale of Act One! I was lucky enough to see Robert Lindsay perform this in Los Angeles. He was brilliant. Can you possibly post Lindsay singing "Leaning on a Lampost" ?
My mother loves this musical with Robert Lindsey and has been raving about it since she saw it in 1986. Looks like this is a legit recording and I'd love to get it for her birthday coming up. Any chance there is a full version out there in the wild? Any format - I don't care. I'll buy a betamax player if it'll make her happy haha.
I saw all three Broadway Bills (Lindsay, Jim Dale, James Brennan) but did not get the chance to see Tim Curry. Matt Lucas should certainly be interesting.
Interesting point on how they cycle through roles. I was thrilled to see Tim Curry as Bill. My friend who didn't like musical theatre became a fan after seeing Tim Curry in Me & My Girl!
It is ironic that it took a yank to best portray Bill Snibson and that is the brilliant Christian Borle. Borle's character is more fun, more jovial and frankly more likable.
wow extraordinaire singing and doing the physical comedy on point. Very pro and very funny and very athletic in a way...
Robert Lindsay and Jane Summerhays!
Saw this on Bway at the Marquis with my mom. The entire cast was outstanding. Pity the Bway of today is nothing like this.
You are so right. But in 1986 this was a revival.

My very first Broadway show! Thank you

So sad I missed the west coast tour of this with Tim Curry. I see now it's going to be revived in the UK with Matt Lucas as Bill.

It is funny how Lindsay, Dale and also Jonathan Pryce often cycle through the same roles!

Hilarious!
Hilarious! Reminds me of "Three's Company" humor...
Do you have access to the full show? Or know where to find it?
I'm assuming this was honoring Roger L. Stevens in 1988. I can' think of who else it would represent. It's not like Noel Gay ever got a KCH.

Oi!

Robert Lindsey isn’t a Yank, FYI
Borle is excellent, but Lindsay is the definitive Bill
