Great video! It took you just over 16 minutes to drive just over 21 Km at an average of 80 Km/h by my estimate. So according to Wikipedia that would make it one of the longest road tunnels in the world. Even though it's 3 tunnels (M8 then M8 to M4 and then M4) I still reckon it's a phenomenal distance purely underground!
@@xr6lad I tried that only to have some moron cut in front of me on 80% of the time, some people know the limit to which the camera goes off so those morons like to get in front of trucks even when they are on the limit. Would you be one of those ????
Nice. Vid. Assume 9.10-11.30 are the future entrances and exits for Rozelle Int and WHT. Disappointing that they didn't continue the underground suburb naming like in the M8, thought that broke up the monotony.
Can’t believe: 1: How dead it was from lack of traffic. 2: In the 21st century they built a freeway tunnel with only 2 lanes a direction that doesn’t allow for traffic build up.
These toll roads are the best way to send every person and company broke as when you get to your exit you have to navigate through hundreds of traffic lights, don't believe me, see for yourself. I've been a truck driver since 1985 and the count of traffic lights has reached over 5 thousand. If you want to avoid traffic lights then you can pay up to $40 each way to drive a boring drive at 80kph (50 mph) no I'm not lying it's only 80.
Very impressive I was just checking how long would’ve taken to go from King George’s Road/M5 to Homebush bay Drive/ M4 via the metro road number “3” and it would take 19-20 minutes which is only about 1.5-2 minutes longer than the tunnel journey. Definitely will be good once they open Rozzele interchange and finish the western harbour tunnel and the new M6 all the way to heathcote and the Sydney gateway to the old airport than it will have full potential.
In Sydney tunnel operators had gone broke, the cross city tunnel, lane cove tunnel just to name a couple that I know of, so if you have all these tunnels with low traffic numbers what do you think will happen to the economy of this country when they are all controlled by ONE company named Transurban, and put up toll charges twice a year but at the same time these criminals force the closure or make it harder to drive on streets above ground, take Wallgrove Road as a typical example, sorry I don't want to be a pessimist but am a realist who sees it for what it is
I haven’t used the M4 - M8 link yet but I’m told the St Peters interchange coming from the international airport direction Princes Hwy is confusing and not marked well. People wanting to head to Parramatta ending up somehow back on the M5 at KGR at Beverly Hills?
I went to the airport other day..signage is confusing..followed the signage to the airport but somehow ended up in mascot..had to come back to the airport from princess hwy..
. If you're traveling on the Princess highway, you keep driving till you get to Campbell Rd St Peter's..this is the main rd takes you to the m8. Enter M8...and will get you to the m4 link
That m4 link tunnel is the biggest I've seen...at one point its 5 lanes wide excluding the emergency breakdown lane

And the cost??? Does it justify the huge costs when they put in speed cameras in tunnels and on the surface
@@myfeeling4you248 ummm you only pay when you speed Knuckle. Are you unable to set your cruise control on and relax?

Yep, they are for the Rozelle interchange.
I agree, the new section feels like it is missing something without the LED lights around the suburb names.

80 Km/h is an absolute joke. the M8 should be changed to 100 km/h. The lanes are wide as.
Can't do it on a tunnel without changing state speed limit guidelines.
