- Mari Salvesen makes first ascent of Tazlov, a long term first ascent project of hers, in Norway.
The route starts on an easy slab. Then from the back of the roof to the end of the crux around the lip the difficulties are similar to that of a long F7C+ boulder problem. The final headwall is easy but bold.

Mari's mindset to climbing is incredible. Never self deprecating, always matter of fact, ever the realist, and full of self confidence. Such a rad climber to watch.

I like how Pete doesn't commentate over the video. Lots of climbing videos have too much "come on!"/encouragement etc. This video was quiet and basically climbing ASMR... felt like I was there with you. 10/10 video, good climbing, good filming, and a brutal crux

This is amazing. I've been staring at that area of Blåbærveggen so many times, but always decided against it because it seemed too hard. And I didn't know if anyone had climbed it.

I remember 25 years ago, there was no 8b in Norway and I lost count of how many times Per Hustad and me went out to Damtjern working on Marathon. Finally Per made it, not sure who was happier, he or me. Very impressed with Mari, excellent footwork and the balance transfers was pure art to watch.

This is an amazing video. As great as it is to see the progression of climbing to ever insane levels, it's nice that even small filmmakers are doing equally well to document their progress (specifically this and the recent Michaela Kiersch ascent of Dreamcatcher come to mind).
I mean Mari is incredible and the way you just put out amazing content that is always so different and you can see the progression. You tackle your youtube much like Mari tackled her climb. Full send crush! Big ups :D

That crux sequence reminds me of some of the crack techniques I've found intermixed with boulder moves at Stone Fort (classic bouldering area in Tennessee). But this is obviously orders of magnitude more difficult.
So impressive... I like Mari's taciturn vibe... nothing unnecessary, just pure climbing efficiency.

She tried a lot of options for the left heel/toe cam, and this one worked best in the end. The right one was the best option for the foot jams in the crack. Correct shoes were key for Mari's beta
Left foot is a Tenaya Ra, right foot seems like a Sportiva TC Pro
@@randomfrenchman right foot is wearing a velcro tenaya mastia in some shots. The laced shoe could be a tc pro or a tenaya masai
