Your story is very powerful, I was bullied alot in general for my mannerisms and appearance in my teen years. I stood out like no other. When you said that about how when others would tease, and how you worried they knew... I experienced the same thing, and I just hated myself so much. I even tried for the longest time to convince myself it was just a mindset and I could be straight and date a girl, but as soon as I could catch the eye of my crush from across the class, I would melt right back into feeling hate for myself. It took time, love and lots of acceptance for me to be comfortable with myself and who I love. Proud of you bro, you're a strong man through and through.
I can really understand the struggling with guys not wanting to date thing. I had this conversation the other day with a straight friend of mine about how in the gay world if you're a niche (I'm mixed race), then it's hard to navigate those who like you for you and those that fetishize you and just see you as a check box almost. It's hard in a community that is so into labels and pigeon holing everything and everyone, but you are such a lovely, positive, genuine and driven man, you'll definitely have a world of happiness awaiting in your future. Awesome! Im a physician, who happens to be gay. Ive seen so many young gay lives destroyed as a result of drug abuse. The incidence of drug abuse & suicide among gay youth is high. Your voice educating young gay kids would be so helpful. Kudos to you man.

I love strongman competitions. As he said in the video, it's a really friendly, attitude-free community. I recently had the pleasure of watching Rob Kearney, another gay strongman, compete at the Albert Hall. Hopefully I'll get to see Chris McNaghten too some day.
Each time I hear a story like yours, filled with honesty, courage, conviction and self-respect, I am filled with inspiration and hope. I also knew I was gay at 9 or 10 and came out at 26. I'm 66 now and as life starts to avail more wisdom (and aches and pains,) I look back with gratitude for all of it, the struggles and the triumphant moments. And I look forward with hope for all our futures. I hope you continue to live your life with your heart open and a peaceful mind. Thanks for putting yourself out there for the benefit of others. You are tight we all have different stories, some worse than others but nonetheless your story is yours and I know it will helps other come out and come to turns with themselves. Here in the US, Massachusetts specifically, as free as we are, being the first US state to have gay marriage we still have those who fear coming out because of how they perceive that their life will change drastically. Some believe people will leave then and hate them and some are in confusion because they dont know, but you took a leap and the outcome for you was great. Not that it will happen to everyone but people will think about coming out once they see your story. Keep inspiring people, keep being yourself, you are, to me is when I first came out,a bear in the truest sense of self. And the Bears in the US could learn a few things from you. However, 28 is a grand age to accept or reject or stay the way you were comfortable with. So absolute accolades for your courage, to face your fears and what your soul required. I always watch strong man competitions when i see them come on tv. It just proves that sexuality is not defined by ones masculinity or perceived masculinity. Im quite sure there are many NFL players that are gay, but stay in the closet or even marry women in fear of losing their careers. Ive known many outwardly very masculine men who are married to women who live double lives. Whether they're bi or gay, it's a shame so many still feel the need to hide their true identity. You may not see it, may actually not agree--but it IS HELPFUL that you are a good-looking fellow. "Social beauty" has a mitigating effect even in very bad situations.
19:52 I know what you mean--many (most?) men make excuses to just seek one another out to "party" and get quickie-sex. Even in approaching partnerships, the focus is on "sex-act compatibility"..."tops" seeking "bottoms", etc. On the other side are the fellows whose focus is in finding a life-partner...is ALL that they see. If they see potential in a fellow and that one is not on the same page, at the same rate, they drop him and move on to someone else. In both of the "black/white" focused, the "grey" spectrum of potential levels of friendship can get ignored and squandered. Plus, relationships shift.
There's plenty to love on the surface of this stunning man and even more beneath it. Anybody who wouldn't jump at the chance to build a life with him is an idiot.
