Totally loving your NH content. I found you through your 14ers content because it’s so cool, but I’ve been working on the NH48 for a couple years now and have done 26/48, and your videos are so helpful! Have been avoiding this one because I don’t like exposure, but this showed me it’s not nearly as bad as I thought!

Good to make this into a loop with Mount Passaconway, which you can see in the middle of the screen at 7:40. Bonus of not having to descend the Class 3 scramble or Blueberry Ledges too!

I live in the west. What struck me the most about hiking and mountain biking in the east is the amount of spiderwebs crossing the paths, especially those less traveled. Not fun. Thanks for the vid

It isn't terrifying but challenging. You have a great relationship with your dog. She's a trooper.

agree with that - terrifying is a pretty extreme adjective for this entire list in my opinion but I suppose it’s all subjective.

The “Terrfying 25” list was originally compiled by the Herr family (Trish and Hugh Herr, the famous badass rock climber and prosthetics scientist) for hiking with their young daughters, so adults might find “terrifying” to be an overstatement - all awesome and worthy hikes, though!

Aria is amazing...and I like the attitude!
Echoing the comments about the T25. With a couple of exceptions, it's code for "really steep" and "sketchy to get down if it's raining." That said, there are a few that have exposure (e.g. Huntington Ravine) that a good number of hikers find terrifying.
Not sure if @Nolimitscomedy means just getting up to the top of Katahdin, for which there are trails that aren't scary at all, or the Knife Edge, which isn't "difficult" but in a completely different category of exposure. I don't believe any of the T25 prepares you for that one.

We have more than 48 4Ks but only 48 count to get the patch.

What hikes would you recommend to prepare for Katahdin? I would like to go for it this upcoming spring. I have done the Franconia Ridge Traverse (Haystack, Lincoln, Lafayette). Are there others you would suggest? Like this one?

Think if you feel good with this th-cam.com/video/dLhvHqIf4aM/w-d-xo.html and this th-cam.com/video/pQu1vmagDA8/w-d-xo.html - you should be good to go.

Franconia Ridge is definitely going to be nicer trails/less exposed than Katahdin. The best way to prepare yourself would be taking a trip to the Northern Presidentials of NH, they are the most similar terrain to Katahdin. Especially coming up Great Gulf into Jefferson, Adams, or Madison. That being said, if you can be hiking comfortably on Franconia Ridge or a hike with some steep terrain like Blueberry Ledge then you should be fine. Katahdin is a step up from these hikes so if you’re struggling on Franconia Ridge for example you may want some more practice on steeper, more rocky hikes. As the Virtual Sherpa recommended, Tripyramids and Huntington will likely be just as hard or harder than Katahdin. Best of luck!

Gotta say man you have a great page and ive enjoyed following for years. Been following since I did my first trip out west to start the 14ers in 2020 and I'm at 50 now and planning to finish them after the wilson and bells groups here in August. Returning to ski instruct in Vermont this winter so I'm looking forward to doing some of these hikes when I return to the east coast!
