Boxing Day walk around Woodstock, a charming market town in Oxfordshire

Have you heard of Woodstock? Not the well known music festival that took place in 1969 but a town in England that is located just over a 90 minute drive away from London!
Woodstock is a picturesque market town located 8 miles north west of Oxford on the very eastern edge of the Cotswolds.
Dating back to the 11th century, the town today has many fine Georgian façades but there are also many ancient buildings left to discover. The Bear Hotel in the market place is one such example which dates all the way back to the 13th century.
Most people who visit the area are attracted to Woodstock's neighbour, the majestic Blenheim Palace, which was the birth place of Sir Winston Churchill, and do not even visit the town, which is a real shame as it a wonderful place for a leisurely stroll and perfect for an overnight stay in the Cotswolds.
Woodstock has many charming streets and alleyways and all manner of interesting buildings that contain hotels, cafes, shops and galleries. St Mary Magdalene church has a carillion that plays four times a day and has a different tune for each day of the week!
The town hall is a landmark in the town dating back to the 17th century and there are two excellent museums to discover more about Oxfordshire life and the connection the military have with the area.
