cwymichelle I'm pretty sure any of the secret foods have to meet the same regulations. If the companies add any harmful substances to said foods they'd get shut down since I'm sure the foods get tested first. (as in before they're released as an actual secret food of said company)
Hypothetically speaking, they should abide in health regulations placed by whatever authority you live in. If they were caught putting harmful substances, you would be able to sue them for violation of health regulations. It all depends on the health regulations being put into place really. I do hope that answers your question.
