This painting! I just can’t, it’s too adorable 😍 Your videos have made me change the way I look at creating new artworks. I’m beginning to add more personality and back story to each piece I make, and I feel like I’m creating better paintings as a whole. Thank you Mikko, you’re a legend! ❤️

That sounds great. I hope it makes you enjoy the process a bit more too :)

angrymikko it’s certainly helped me change things up a bit! I tend to get less frustrated when creating a painting now! I’m also more inclined to try new styles 😁

I can relate to your sensitivity to graphic images! It’s so nice to come across an illustrator that I instantly admire and then also find that they are the same in that regard✨

Totally agree with you about Halloween and violet images.
We don't need that garbage! I love your illustrations and appreciate the idea of having patience around telling stories with pictures. This us a great video. Subscribing!

Amazing advice. Just what I needed to hear. Also, I totally get what you were saying about being sensitive and images getting stuck in your head. I really appreciate you saying that and 100% support you choosing to create something different.

Thank you for explaining how you improved your art work. Creativity takes time and patience to come to fruition. I can totally relate to your dislike of bloody Halloween pictures, etc. That’s also what drives me to make artwork that is funny, witty and leaves a sense of ‘all is end that ends well’, especially since I want to create children’s books.

I find it always very interesting to hear about the thought-process and everything that goes into a painting besides the actual painting process (though I enjoy that as well, ofc). I just subbed to you and bing-watched a bunch of your videos and your art is truly beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for putting this out here for us to see and enjoy!! :)

Thank you, I'm still new to all of this so I haven't nailed down a specific format for my videos. The experimental part is also something that keeps it fun for me so I'll probably always have some element of that in. Making videos is definitely a lot harder than I thought it would be so I'm still in the process of learning about all the technical stuff too.

This helped me so much! I always wanted to tell stories through my illustrations but I just never could. This gave me ideas and motivation to start telling my stories. One thing I'm also struggling with actually is getting a more painterly feel to my illustrations and not making them look too smooth and digital and cold.

Advanced brush strokes video is something I’m actually proud of. They don’t teach that stuff in new art schools.
      🧐 but they should!

Ahhhh I can't tell you how much I LOVE the idea of ghosts washing their sheets on Halloween when they have the day off. 🤣🤣🤣 Your imagination is amazing, I hope you do a kids book or coffee table book or something one day....

That would be super fun. Though I’m not sure I fully understand the difference between a kids illustration book or one that I’d like to read myself. Maybe there’s not really that much of a difference to begin with and I do have kids illustrated books that I have bought just for myself. Vivi is my only child and she can’t read (she does love to rip paper and cardboard with her little paws and fox teeth though ☝️).

Great video! Really needed to hear this. Thank you! :) (And I'm exactly the same with violence... :-( I can't even watch the news anymore, 'cause then I'll be thinking about all the bad stuff all day long).
