Half ritzy coastal resort, half summer surfers' hang-out, the seaside resort of Biarritz has been a favourite beach getaway since Napoléon III and his Spanish-born wife Eugénie arrived during the mid-19th century. Its elegant villas and heritage-listed residences, which glitter with belle époque and art deco details, have retained their glamour. Unfortunately the 20th century wasn't quite so kind, and the seafront is blessed with its fair share of concrete carbuncles that have done little to enhance its aesthetic appeal. Nevertheless, Biarritz remains one of the southwest's seaside gems and throngs with visitors in summer.

Très belle ville que j'ai connue dans mon adolescence, j'habitais en face du Palais, et lorsque j'entends parler de marée du siècle... savez vous que j'ai vu de mes propres yeux les vagues claquer là où de trouve le véhicule volkswagen BJ-568-NJ (time 9:13) où se trouvait un vendeur de crêpes et de gaufres et c'est marrant l'eau venait finir sa course au niveau de l'autre volkswagen FT-792-YC (time 9:06) où se trouvait un tout petit rond-point surélevé de 1M de diamètre pour gendarme qui faisait la circulation avec son bâton blanc, toute une époque! Biarritz à l'état sauvage, dont je garde le plus beau des souvenirs.
Quelle expérience Billy !! La vérité est qu'il est difficile de croire que l'eau a atteint cette profondeur... mais pauvre marchand de crêpes... 😂😂🤣 Je suppose que de telles inondations seraient très dommageables pour ce quartier de Biarrtiz 😥😥 Aujourd'hui, le quartier du casino, la plage, l'hôtel sont magnifiques. 🥰🥰🥰
@@JustDriving4K , eh oui difficile à croire, quand on voit l'océan au loin... mais bel et bien vrai, cela aurait été dramatique si l'eau avait traversé la hauteur du rond-point en face de l'entrée du Palais, car là, c'est l'avenue de la reine victoria qui aurait été envahie,

Biarritz est une ville de la côte BASQUE au PAYS BASQUE, DONC, c'est l'ikurriña (le drapeau Basque) qui doit être mis en avant pas votre bleu blanc rouge!!!!
