Enjoyed watching your viddy. Apparently, the rule for planting on the back of seed packets was actually meant for farmers for spacing their crops and not home gardeners. You can plant seeds as close as you like as the plants that are hugging each other keep weeds at bay.
I love the approach you take with your gardening. I had some initial set backs with my garden this spring, and have been feeling like I missed the boat in terms of planting. But, after seeing this I am renewed and ready to get some things in the ground! Thank you! One more thing, where do you purchase your seed trays from? Oh those fruit flies! they are also attacking my Zucchini, I have pocket size mesh bags which I am covering them with and securing with a peg, then in the mornings I open them and try and pollinate the flowers which are open, it's a tough battle with them, they seem to be prolific this year
When is the best time of the year to buy seeds from you for the next season (February). I am wanting to buy varieties suited to our Brisbane GC climate
I do restocks every month, sometimes I can’t get things on peak season though. Was there something specific you’re after? Garlic will be later this month.
Central Qld garden here. Attempted corn twice, and both times lost the cobs to a ferocious caterpillar of some description. Curious whether you've had issues and what you did about it?
Yeah we’ve had those a few times, usually later in the season. Do you think they are the corn ear worms? Heliothis? It’s a pretty destructive pest. You can usually see them starting to damage the silks, I often squish them there first. You want to attract in more praying mantis, predatory wasps, birds, hoverflies. Failing that a net over them might work, but you might find that you’ve now got the larvae in your soil. Definitely rotate from where you’ve grown before, their life cycle is fast. If you’ve got chickens I’d get them in the bed to weed out any critters too.

They love to feel various textures of soil between their toes. Apart from n it's very healthy to be barefoot outside. Take for example two plants, one grown inside a pot and tge other grown in Nature. However much you water and use fertilizer, it never looks as healthy as the latter. This is simply because the roots have a limited space to stread and the Nurishment too is the same. The soles of our feet are like the roots of a tree.When you're not barefoot that natural process is obstructed. Our soles are designs to absorb things which are essential to lead a healthy lifestyle. However, use of footwear deprives this process. Apaurt from that there are a large number of Sensors / Nerve endings on the soles of our feet, which connects from head to toe. When we walk on Sand, Gravel and Tiny Stones /Pebbles,our entire body gets stimulated through these sensors. Once again Footwear deprives this natural process. So, go barefoot always for good health and happy feet and soles.
No I haven’t, but I thought maybe one year one was eaten by a mouse so i guess it’s possible - they just didn’t take everything - which is unusual for rats 😂
I have fennel growing beside, beans,potatoes, subchokes, sweet potatoes and a zucchini and it all seems to be doing really well 😊
Yeah I’ve never had an issue, they pop up everywhere and I just let them do their thing.

I can't believe lettuce is a summer crop!! Too scared to grow it in case it gets burnt during the higher temps!! LOL!!
It’s not easy to grow in summer and prone to bolting but I plant it all year round - in summer shady positions and loose leaf only.

Is it Fennel or is it Dill?
The leaves are similar looking.
Definitely fennel but there is a tiny dill there too which I did plant.
