Hiya Jessie, a fun visit like when you take us along. Wow that factory was cool and spotless! Oh do hope that Mum’s hearing issues are getting sorted? At least she keeps a smile. Blessings luv Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
💡 any plastic liner/sheeting can be used to make the "new leak proof bottom" of the styrofoam tray. And your beautiful with or without makeup, dear. ❤ Best wishes to you both- so excited seed starting time is here! 💕Hope your mom's hearing gets better soon. 🙏
thankyou for the education ,, I have just began using Mel-courts compost and very impressed,, I have found other peat free composts seem to vary from bag to to bag , and not been happy of what its well advertised statements , it not consistence , now you have given me more confidence , in Melcourt products,, thanks again Jessie ,👌🙏
I travel 49 miles to get Silvagrow. Well worth it though as it is a fabulous wee garden centre and has a lovely walk close by for the dog. I also bought all my loose seed potatoes so well worth the trip, I would love a day out at the Melcourt factory.
Yay, road trip! Sometimes wish we had a good train system but yeah that’s what a car is for. Beautiful day for looking at compost. Only a gardener would get excited about compost!😅. I’m not crazy about the synthetic fertilizer but there it is. Lovely seeing JB in the flesh.
REALLY enjoyed the road trip. I also look for sustainably sourced compost, but not always easy to find where I am. That trip spoke to the garden geek in me. Thank you.
Love this, thank you! Ep 200 also excellent :) P.S. 15/2/24 - Disturbingly, Sydney currently experiencing the horror of mulch contaminated with asbestos which has been spread throughout schools, parks, etc. Hopefully not in private gardens. We really do need to be aware of how and where our mulches, composts etc are sourced and processed. Criminal investigation underway. 😥
Thank you Jessie for the compost tour it was really interesting. I was on the fence as its quite expensive but after watching this I am converted it is clearly worth the cost. I have contacted my local stockist it is costing me £8.00 a bag I wanted 10 bags so am getting them with free delivery. Just need some good weather up here in Scotland. Thanks again.
My husband bought two bags of this compost, which I am very impressed by. It is soooo good , like dry cake ingredients ! I love it! So good and it worth the money! Thanks for sharing the behind the scene, Happy growing.
I was right! I predicted it would be JB! That was thrilling to have a tour of Melcourt. Thank you, Jessie. I am so glad I grabbed 12 bags of sylvagrow the day after JB recommended it in his video in January (ended up getting from the same local garden centre he did!) Great video, thanks. Best wishes, Justine
You for sure introduced me to growing broad beans when I watched the video with the recipe several years ago. I have now grown the Windsor seed (only type I could source) for threa seasons just so that I can make it. I love it!!!! This year was the first year I have finally been able to source Aquadulce seeds and will be growing both types this spring. What a great surprise to see JB and look forward to his video on your tour!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again for the "field trip". From across the pond in NC. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! Wasn't expecting that but in my heart, I was yearning for the information, so thank you! Love Slyvagrow, I found it a couple of years ago after too many frustrations with other peatfree composts and like you, will not go back. I use it for seed sowing, potting on and mixed with my own compost for planting in pots. Never fails and totally consistent. Well done Melcourt for showing us your product, I hope your sales soar 😊.
Oh so lovely to see JB in your video and how lovely to see the Cotswolds. I went there for a week last March and loved it. Fabulous place. Thanks for talking about compost, another subject I love.
Great vlog Jessie. I now understand why it's difficult to buy Silva grow in northern England. It's a small company, distribution must be a challenge. I live in northern Lancashire and I managed to get 3 bags, with added John Innes, for £10 each from a garden centre in Oxford. There is a rumour going round that says that plantgrow compost is even better than sylva grow. Can't find plantgrow locally either!
I just LOVE these road trips! My finger is constantly hovering on the pause button so I can get every detail. I feel like I've been somewhere and all from the comfort of my desk chair. *Thanks for taking us along Jessie!* Cheers from Oz.
Hi Jessie I invested in some of Charles Dowding seed modules a couple of years ago. I highly recommend them. They are strong & sturdy, fit into regular trays for watering & Easy for transplanting. Loved the silver grow trip.
I am very confused. Why go to Kemble station when Melcourt is in Tetbury, I thought? I obviously got it wrong, lol! The site is only few miles away from me, but sadly they don't sell to the public :-( I love Sylvagrow. Such lovely compost and I found a nursery, locally, that sell it at a great price :-) All my seed have been sown in this with great germination rates. Fab video- just a tiny bit green, lol! Happy gardening :-)
Brilliant I didn’t comment on vlog 200 but I thought it was fantastic to think your mum has inspired you to be so enthusiastic about allotmenting she is amazing 🇮🇪☘️
Hello from North Carolina, USA. Thank you for taking us on the trip. I love seeing your land trips. Sorry about your moms hearing. Hope she gets help or a hearing aid. Beautiful video.
Never heard of broad beans or knew anyone who grew them before I started watching UK gardeners. Even hard to find in seed catalogs. They must not grow well in my area.
Could you line the trays with plastic like from plastic bags so they won't leak. I'm glad you went ahead and did the garden through the years video, I so enjoyed it. Blessings
Excellent compost…my fave also…not quite grown in my backyard! (Bristol) …sadly it isn,t always available at local garden shops. Thanks for showing us how it is made😀😀😀
Cotswolds… know it well… been to Kemble… and lots of other beautiful places… absolutely love the area… but can’t afford to live there…sadly!!…(must do the lottery again ?!!)…will make some more comments on the whole video have watched all of it…😃
Ha I grew broad beans then could not bring myself to eat them due to the childhood trauma 😂 of broad beans in white sauce. I’m going to try again, and your recipe 👍🏻🤞🏻
Oh yes….i love root trainers…and mine are about 15 years old I think…have to treat them gently for old ones to survive😀😀😀 but they are SO good esp for peas and beans 😀😀😀 Jinxy
The root trainers are very expensive to buy where I live. For a cheaper alternative, I have used toilet paper rolls for deep root training some seedlings and just plant the whole thing, making sure all the paper roll is covered with soil. Jessie, I have used Flex-Seal rubber spray to repair some of my trays (sprayed on the inside) to make them leakproof again. I don't know if it will work on your old polystyrene cell trays assuming you can buy something like it in the UK, but it might be worth a try.
Broad beans? Gardeners say you have to soak beans before planting, but I don’t with no problems. Snow storm today dumped 9 inches so inside baking because of course I brought the soil in, but forgot the trays in the greenhouse. I’m not opening that door since it’s super cold outside, warm inside and there are plants in the greenhouse I don’t want to shock.
That factory tour was fascinating! Did they explain what the digestate was made from. Website seems to suggest it's an alternative to manure, so just wondering if that's means it's not from animal agriculture? I.e. cow/horse poop. Loved watching your day out.
Hi Jessie and your Mum, all your seedlings are looking really healthy. Very interesting visit to the Cotswold & being allowed to visit how they make their peat free compost. Great to see you met up with JB in the flesh too . Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I feel sad watching your videos of sowing because I know our summer is in its last month and having vowed to spend it in the water we've hardly been to the beach at all! Om not ready to let go od summer yet lol
See your polystyrene trays, I have a big Welly boot tray from IKEA that I use for my seed pots and beyond, I wonder if that would be any use for your old timers? It's not deep but long enough to accommodate the size and will be a reservoir for you 🤔
That mashed broad bean recipe was fabuwlous Jess. I tell you what...roasted to a crisp with czsyenne sprinkledl on is also amazing as a snack or mixed in with a Bombay Mix.
I've put my broad beans in direct this year. The first year I put them in toilet rolls first at home and they were great. Maybe they will be toast 😂 hopefully broad beans on toast
Another brilliant interesting video. I’ve been using Melcourt compost for a few years and wonderful to see the product in the raw, wonderful. Thanks. All that compost and all those pallets!
It's probably more wise to start your broad beans the way you're doing it. Mine looked so nice at the beginning of winter but now they're all gone 🐌🐌🐌🐭
Loved the history video! You do such a great job with all of your videos. Here in USA am starting brassicas the end of week. Also I have 40 milk jugs of winter sowing- mostly perennial or hardy flowers and herbs. Will move on to winter sowing most summer veggies in a few weeks.
Great video - been looking for a better compost for a while and was thinking of trying this from seeing it in your other videos so this promped me to try and get some......sadly try is the thing atm. Just spent a couple of hours trying to find a stockist (from the website) but our nearest is a 30 mile round trip in the wrong direction so not optimal and as you say some of the online prices are just silly - even the reasonable ones either dont deliver to our area, are collection only at the far side of Manchester or are not worth it once the delivery cost is added. Some even doubled the cost from £40 to £80 to get it delivered which is crazy for 3 bags of compost. Hopefully some of the ones with reasonable shipping get the 40L bags back in stock soon. Such a shame as i was really wanting to try this stuff out.
Ooo, my left ear went completly deaf in November. I kept putting drops in but decided it was not wax or curable. However I put in Castor oil and a little teatree. It took a month but nw I can hear.
Loved the video Jessie. Unfortunately I can't find sylvagrow anywhere near me. I'll have to have a look at delivery costs if I order online but it looks like amazing stuff. May be well worth the delivery charge. 🙂
Awesome video Jessie, so glad you enjoyed the tour, thanks for coming along 😊
All true gardeners love their hands in soil, it is both ridiculous & pure joy that we find it so exciting 😄🤩
Fantastisch Good work Jessie zaaien thé Compost thé moostuin thans te video Top 👍✔️🤗🌱🌞🌹🎈❤
So exciting meeting up with JB 😊
That was marvellous my favourite compost with my two favourite garden people. Plus a picturesque Cotswold village.🤗
Coucou
Une formidable vidéo bravo pour ce partage 😊
À bientôt

Hi Jessie love the tour & Cotswolds village & seeing jb lovely chap I follow him on his blog enjoyed every minute lv Irene 😘 xx
A community garden is an area that the whole village can use, not just spicific area's
Loved this video Jess. I’m on holiday in Benidorm, sat on a sun lounger with my IPad binge watching my favourite allotment videos. Thank you!
What an interesting place to visit. I now want to live in the Cotswolds ❤️
Every time you wear that color your beautiful eyes are enhanced 😊 cheers ❤️ 🍻
I never liked broad beans until I discovered stereo beans which are a mangetout variety so you eat the pods and all quite young. Very yummy.
💡 any plastic liner/sheeting can be used to make the "new leak proof bottom" of the styrofoam tray.
And your beautiful with or without makeup, dear. ❤
Best wishes to you both- so excited seed starting time is here!

I really loved this Vlog Jess, I also follow JB, so what a nice surprise! 😁
Your Mom was a hottie, Jess. That was a great video. Thank you for sharing that personal glimpse.
She (Mum) is still gorgeous...

I love broad beans and will make minestrone soup with broad beans in the soup, with plenty of artichoke in there too!
REALLY enjoyed the road trip. I also look for sustainably sourced compost, but not always easy to find where I am. That trip spoke to the garden geek in me. Thank you.
Jessie! I knew it was going to be JB! What a lovely village, Kemble
that was a nice video as always well done jessie

Was so shocked when JB popped up! Was not one of the people I had guessed 😂. Great tour of the sylva grow factory 👍👍
Wow! Wasn't expecting that but in my heart, I was yearning for the information, so thank you!

Ah so lovely to see you and JB together. Xx
Great trip thanks for taking us along. One of the best compost I've used
Great. Video enjoy Melcourt Factory trip, glad you and JB enjoyed it, I used Sylva Grow this on your recommendation it brill thank you for info.
Hi Jessie I invested in some of Charles Dowding seed modules a couple of years ago. I highly recommend them. They are strong & sturdy, fit into regular trays for watering & Easy for transplanting. Loved the silver grow trip.
I love the compost coverage that looks awesome. I would be just as fascinated 🎉

Oh how I wish we had trains in the U.S. !thanks for videos 😊
I know you're a gardening channel 1st and foremost but your story telling, b roll and transition are brilliant. I really love your story telling.
Wow, thank you for the behind the scenes composting - how did you resist jumping in! 😅 x
If you haven't tried Broadband and Bacon Orzo then definitely try that recipe too
Our broad beans, all our first lot of broad beans got feasted on by voles. I hope they enjoyed them 😂.
Enjoyed the tour of the compost factory, fab vlog Jessie 🥰
Great visit that well done Jessie 👍
This compost factory thrilled me!

Fantastic fun!
U might get spray foam and trowel it into the bottom of your foam trays. It fill the holes and U can flatten to finish.
Jessie, can’t believe you were 2 mins down the road! I would have bought your pint as well!!
That broad beans recipe looks amazing I will definitely be giving it a go with the family
Oh, the Cotswold is gorgeous. We were gifted a week in a darling cottage for our honeymoon in 1979...lololol
It's probably more wise to start your broad beans the way you're doing it. Mine looked so nice at the beginning of winter but now they're all gone 🐌🐌🐌🐭

I wish that I could find something like that closer to where I live. I live in Adolphus, KY just 30 minutes South of Bowling Green KY.

I really enjoyed the outing, and now I`m looking for the compost online, cheers :)
Fantastic Jessie. Thank you!
Oh my goodness! Kemble is where my hubby works on the airstrip. Nice to see you visited my locality :)
Ooo, my left ear went completly deaf in November. I kept putting drops in but decided it was not wax or curable. However I put in Castor oil and a little teatree. It took a month but nw I can hear.
Compost looks absolutely first class pity we don't have a local supplier never mind great video

Nice one Jess thanks
