Although not discussed here, a big shout out for Paul’s bass part … which is beyond brilliant on this track. One of my all time fav Beatles songs. Also, I’ve heard many a guitarist on TH-cam try to nail Paul’s solo - but Mike truly does it here, imo.

I was fifteen when " Revolver " was released in Canada. It's hard to imagine now what we all thought of this new direction the Beatles were taking. Following " Taxman, " my first exposure to hearing " Eleanor Rigby " was WTF !! And finishing the album with " Tomorrow never Knows " was mind- blowing. What a Band!

But he always got at least two songs on a lot of the album's... Hell I've been in bands were singers won't even let you get one on!!!!. I think they were quite generous with Harrison later on... I remember him complaining at one time that he was always the one burdened with coming up with the solos !
So it could go both ways !
Him being happy Paul did the solo so he didn't have to or not.
But I think he did not care about that kind of stuff (ego) he wanted the help from the others and often asked for it, pretty sure he was glad he got it.

Mike Pacelli also has the great passion For The Beatles behind the scenes. I always enjoy all of his great videos to analyze all of the Beatles tracks.
I just bought Let It Be, the remastered CD today with the extra number two CD of outtakes, it's phenomenal. [I may go back to the record store after payday and buy one of the new vinyl copies also, because I have several turntables in perfect condition from the early 1970s when I bought them, and old stereos to easily listen to this.]
The outtake CD sounds like you're sitting there in the studio live with them playing right in front of you, every little nuance and slight mistakes and breathing and speaking in between the numbers, the false starts, and the random talk.
It would be cool to see Mike actually imitate some of these in between the lines random talk and string a few of those numbers together that he's analyzed the past Beatles tracks.
I haven't listened to the entire new one here he does on Taxman, but I'm sure he's going to report on the lead guitar piece that was chosen for the track which Paul McCartney does, as this is unusual that on George's few numbers George did not play the lead guitar on this track for the original release. I wonder if we will ever hear an early take of that track with George playing the original lead on Taxman.

Imho, I think this is one of the most edgiest songs, especially for its time. George was so hell-bent on studying and playing the sitar while neglecting his guitar at this time, that it showed up in some of his work, good and bad. In his own words, he said the only time actually played the guitar for almost 4 years, was for the Beatles. Basically I think he meant, practice makes perfect. He had said that post Beatle and years after he had picked up his slide to perfect that amazing slide pitch. I think you are spot on about Paul listening to what George was after. The Indian motif shows in the walks

Amazing! Finally we learn how 'Taxman' is played. Bravo Mike. I love the performance at the end - I suspect you are having more fun than the Beatles as they would have been under pressure to produce hits and stay on top of their game. With the passing of time we are missing how edgy it was for the land's leading rock/pop group to mock the PM and Leader of the Opposition.

Gaylen8 - It's my considered opinion that pop music would've remained white-washed by Pat Boone and similar soul-less 'artists' if the Beatles hadn't appeared. They broke the color barier and showed kids how GREAT the black artists of the day (who weren't getting their deserved recognition) were. I say EVERY pop/rock song past 1963 is a 'son of a Beatles song!!'
