I remember going on a school trip to the NYCTA’s transportation’s main hub. So neat to watch the workers light up the traffic board.

Just 5 to 7 years later the whole thing collapsed! I remember almost ever IRT car smelling like urine. I'm glad those days are over now for the most part.

Hopefully your new man Andy Byford can sort things out. He did good here in Toronto and I miss having him here. Good luck NYC.

Did the late actor Pat Hingle ever ride the nyc subway himself? I await your answer.

Whaaaatt! The Blue and Whites were handpainted?? Or was that just the finishing touches that guy was doing ~5:24? Either way...more examples of how handpainting was amazing before the 90's.

I remember subway cars before ac. When crowded, they got pretty stinky.

@ 1:09 not to play the race card here but it's funny how the narrator mention's about the different background's and yet you only see one black person. To me wouldn't it be a mix of every race but then again this was from the 70's: "so expect that".

The MTA is a money pit for nyc riders and a cash cow for MTA workers.

All of that smoking in the meeting was awful. I'm glad smoking was banned in offices.
