  • Steel tires on wooden wheels have to be hot shrunk and these 10 foot logging wheels require the same procedure. The first wheel went well, according to plan, so this is how it is supposed to work. Thanks for coming along.

There is a lot more going on here than just the setting of an enormous steel tire. This is a shining example of a man of worth calling on his friends to help. Most importantly, they show up. This exemplifies the western culture and recognition of a worthwhile man amongst worthwhile friends. Too often in this day and age the real virtues are overlooked.

I do agree and as a bit of a city boy with a country heart i really appreciate and admire that kind of community where the good people come together and even enjoy a day with friends and family on a worthwhile mission. I think it's quite universale for good decent folks no matter where they come from..

There’s are few things more joyful and satisfying than being together with friends and working on projects. When the call for hands goes out it’s always the same old trustworthy crew that responds and you know that things are going to get done. I like to call them the “lead, follow or get the heck out of the way” gang.

Sure was a big crew of friends, and everyone had their place in the process. I hope the next episode isn't horrific. I'm sure you kept it safe though. Thank you for sharing, and take care.

Many years ago I was erecting a big shed. As I'm not as young as I once was I enlisted some friends who were of a similar age and condition. We decided we needed help. The word went out. Wives , Son's, son in laws , daughter's , daughter's in law , nephew's, neighbours etc came , along with food drink and BBQ'S we had a great party and many introductions and friendships made.
We also put up a shed.....

Dave, with a wheel that large I am sure that personal safety is a huge issue dealing with the hot steel. Everyone involved looks like they knew what to do. It was a great idea to move that site allowing more room to maneuver. You always do so very well, and just by your comment on the "train wreck", I hope it didn't take you back to square one. Always looking forward to your next video. Great Job on the first wheel. Thanks for bringing us along.

Absolutely amazing process, looking forward to the second one, the "train wreck" as you call it. What I find most fascinating is how they would have accomplished this feat back before forklifts. It must have been block and tackle, or some other form of lifting equipment. Even in the best of circumstances it had to be extremely difficult and dangerous. Watching the series really instills your dedication to the trade, not just wheels, but all the other projects you take on. Truly a craftsman, and a holder of the knowledge, I only hope there's someone to pass the skills to, so it's not lost to history, thank you for sharing your passion and expertise.

You seemed to be fighting with the forklift truck to much tension on the chains and not enough slack to set the tire on to the wheel but you all got there in the end. But for me was the fact that your wife and daughter was with you and for me that was the best part seeing the both again. 😀👍👍
