I modified my RTA cabinets for french cleats (I made them with high grade 3/4" plywood. I glued and screwed nailer boards (3/4" plywood) to the backs. That gave me the offset I needed to accomodate the 3/4" cleats. This made hanging the uppers practically a one man job. I also did a bead of wood glue on all mating seams of the RTA cabinets, drew them together with bar clamps, then screwed them together in the designated places.

Great job. You mentioned adding a link to look at the cabinets, can you add that link? Thanks.

This is excellent, Thank you. I'm about to do this in my place. I do have a question. With the large gap behind the sink base, how did you handle the backsplash there?

I tiled the backsplash so it wasn’t an issue. If you use laminate tops with attached backsplash you’ll need to use a belt sander to adjust it to fit the wall.

Do I order the filler strips from the same manufacturer as the cabinets?

If the cabinets have a particular finish or paint, then yes you would order the fillers from the cabinet manufacturer. If the cabinets are unfinished, you can use any wood strip that matches the wood species.

Sorry for the delayed response. Ideally yes you’d order from the manufacturer but it seems like most of the cabinets sold in big box stores are very close to the same white so you may be able to get away with grabbing one off the shelf somewhere. I’ve done it.
