What a footage Dimitri 😮 I can't believe how many great videos you have.. Pleasure to watch and very helpful in learning and understanding what can happen ! That flip at the end 😳 I hope that's not a requirement 😅
Hello Gary, Thank you for the compliment, means a lot! And indeed, like you noticed, I switched colours. ;-) The green Delphin was a Corelite, the new one (orange) is CoreliteX wich has reduced weight and is stiffer. Cheers, Dimitri
Dimitri, is the difference in weight and stiffness of the Corelite X quite noticeable? Do you feel it is a significant upgrade? Others have commented that the stiffness of the Corelite X is approaching that of a composite boat. Gary
The reduced weight can be feeled in the bow section. Once on the water you will not notice that anymore, it's an advantage for carrying your boat, nothing more. When you put your equipment in it, the advantage is gone. What's more to it is like you mentioned; it's increased stiffness. And that (to me) is the main advantage of CoreLiteX. I also paddle a composite boat, and the stiffness approaching that of those composite boats.
Thanks for the reply. I currently have a Delphin and an Aries. I was looking for a Cetus, but with the new Corelite X, combined with the aggressive thigh braces on the Scorpio, I may go that route. I love the control of those thigh braces.
You're welcome and thank you for watching! Those things can be achieved by lots of training and constantly pushing your own limits. Have fun! Greetings from the Belgian West Coast! Dimitri
Gee your water looks so cold! Watching your vids because it blowing 30knots plus here in Western Australia. Much warmer when we get wet! thanks for sharing! Fabulous conditions you enjoy. Long surf!
Hi Barry, Yes the video was filmed during the winter period over here. The water goes down to 2°C. For now, it's Climbing back up to 20°C. Have fun over there when the wind goes down a bit. Cheers, Dimitri
@@livz666 and which part exactly? We sometimes do a day trip to Dover, which is not so far for us. Same for you, we are based along the Belgian West Coast, let us know when you find yourself in the neighboorhood!😊👌
Great footage! I was hiking a very small mountain in New York State's (USA) Adirondack Mt. Region today and was looking down on Schroon Lake where I sometimes paddle. It's going to be a while before I do that...there's 4" of ice on it! 😄. Be well and safe in the... Happy New Year! Frank
Hi Frank, Just looked it up, seems like a beautiful place. Perhaps you can go on it with ice-skates? A happy New Year to you and your family too, be safe! Cheers, Dimitri
I'm loving what you do. Bought a sit-on sea/fishing-kayak for now, but once I've done some training I'll be looking to get a touring kayak. I'd be grateful of any advice regarding a good sit-in sea kayak for anything up to 1-2 night hops for a noob.
Hi there! That 's a good start, a sit-on-top kayak, we also started ten years ago with that kind of craft. Are you on Facebook? Talks easier.... :-) Thanks for wachting! Cheers, Dimitri
Thanks for watching Ross! It always gives an adrenaline boost to feel the kayak going this way, it's all part of the fun and sometimes we get the chance to capture those moments on camera! :-) Cheers! Dimitri
Very nicely done ! Thats a powerful song you used. I have a couple of questions... what were you up to at the beginning when it looked like you were solo and attached the line to your boat and swam away from it? And, at 3:00 you got trashed pretty good by that wave, what is your thought process when you capsize surfing? Are you rolling up immediately on getting into a setup position or waiting while you "feel" waves go over you to roll up between them? Cheers, keep up the good work Dimitri !
Hi there! The song is the end theme from the movie Camp XRay. In our group we make this "attach and swim away" a training drill. In the video this was a few kms away from land. This way you learn to stay calm in open water. We do this in rougher conditions also, then you can't see your boat anymore because of the waves and your close to the surface vision. It's the closest thing to be totally alone at sea (in a safe way) and losing your kayak. Therefor we carry our VHF, flare, whistle,... on our PFD. Can imagine that some people may find this dangerous but it is not. The capsize thing is something powerful. I either roll up immediatly or wait for the wave to roll over in the setup position. Thank you for watching, and the good questions! Cheers, Dimitri
Thanks Dimitri. "attach and swim away" sounds a lot like rolling practise in rougher conditions. It makes good sense to me. It would also be a good way to show people how quickly a boat can blow away from them in the wind and good practise to use a paddle to swim with. Cheers !
Hi Brian, We try to aim at the steepest wave to let the bow of the kayak go under the surface. That way, with all the speed, the kayak with the kayaker get pushed back, or in the air by the buoancy. It's like holding a pingpong ball under water and than suddenly release it. It is called a "pop-out" and it great fun, gives you an adrenaline boost! :-) Cheers, and thanks for watching! Dimitri

Another fun video!! It looks like a history of your P&H boats, Dimitri! Delphin, Scorpio and Cetus. Keep them coming.

Anyone know the make and model of the orange kayak? Thanks
