Shadoe Stevens was the best Hollywood Square ever. He was so good at spinning a B.S. story in his response, even when he wasn't lying. I wish someone would do a compilation of his best moments from this show. An absolute legend.

Thanks for posting this Shadoe, I didn’t get to this taping but my late brother did. I did go to a later taping of the Tom Bergeron version which was at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Regis Philbin a year before Live went national! Regis and Kathie Lee were still NYC only at this point.

If you wanted a hot game show announcer, Shadoe is who you would call! I agree

He was a great game show announcer on both the John Davidson and Tom Bergeron versions of Hollywood Squares. It's too bad he never got considered to take over the announcing duties from Rod Roddy and later Rich Fields on The Price is Right. Shadoe would have been perfect for the most announcer intense show in all of television.

Shadoe was also the animated voice of Doc Samson on The Incredible Hulk cartoon.

Yeah. Interesting that Shadoe continued to announce even during the Tom Bergeron version at least during the first four seasons. It's a shame he was never a panelist on that one.

How come the mid size Mercury Scorpio cost $26,000+? That's in Late-'87 dollars!

    • @terryleemangrumii8566

$26,451 in 1987 for this midsizer? How?

Terry Lee Mangrum II The Merkur Scorpio was brought in to compete with other mid-sized luxury cars like Acura. But the high price and poor marketing killed it and they were only produced in 1988-89. I have an '89 and I know a guy in upstate NY who has 15 Scorpios, all running.

What an insult to LT. LT is arguably the greatest defensive player in the history of pro football. Mark Gastineau was nothing more than a professional bitch.

One of the handful of cases where there was a split shift with two celebs filling the same square 2-3 episodes each during a week. Might have been that LT could only do the afternoon shoot, and Mark came in for the morning shoot.
