  • Great info in this video that discusses the tactics, patterns and presentation techniques to catch Atlantic Salmon with surface flies. This is both bombers and wet flies tied with a riffling hitch. We join Trevor Pilgrim, owner of Mayflower Outfitters, on some of the rivers of Northern Newfoundland to fly fish for some explosive salmon fishing!

That tailing at 11:45 was probably the highlight of the video, damn.

    Great show!
Regarding the section on the hitch knot. I presume that's on a standard fly? Not on a hitch tube fly.

yes standard fly, have not seen it on a tube fly yet

Now I get where the name 'hitch' fly comes from. My first experience of hitch flies were tubes, which you can't really add the hitch knot to, hence the hole in the side. But it makes sense now adding a hitch knot to a standard fly.

At 6 min that ain’t no 6lb fish. You’re catching grilse. 4lbs at best

Agreed, probably the excitement of the moment. Thanks
