I live in Chicago. Every arcade fan needs to visit the Galloping Ghost Arcade at least once in their life. Words can't describe how awesome the place is.
The Galloping Ghost empire is growing! Cool to see how their reproduction team works, it was inspiring to see the several blocks of Galloping Ghosts businesses!
Hey Ralph, while this video topic was very cool, and congrats, you actually did something in the video that I think is really exemplary and impressed me a lot. There are a rare times when you can really tell that someone is or isn't a stand-up person, but when you highlighted that you specifically asked for Galloping Ghost to put their mark in some manner on the topper, I was like 'wow, that's a real show of respect and appreciation". I commend you 10-fold Ralph for doing that. Most people try their best to remove any mfg information, but this was a refreshing thing to see and I hope they appreciate the recognition and respect you show to them too. Best regards! Game on!
Thanks man! I didn't always think like that, but I appreciate the comment. It wasn't until I dove deep into the hobby and realized a lot of the developers, artists and creative talent don't really get the credit they deserve. This was made especially apparent to me more recently when I met Paul Niemeyer (Illustrator for the original MK logo, Satan's Hallow and many other Bally / Midway projects), and he told me that Bally Midway execs back in the day didn't want artist to sign their work. The team over at Galloping Ghost was awesome to work with, and they very much appreciated the ask, and I'm glad they did it. For me, it's really cool to know they took the time to reproduce it and get it as close to the original as possible. Thanks again for the message, it really means a lot. I don't talk about it much, but I truly have a very deep appreciation and love for the artwork and history of these old machines. I'm sure a lot of it is based on nostalgia of that time and my enjoyment of them when I was a kid. I just really don't want to see this part of gaming history die, I just hope others pick up the torch and get into the hobby as well. It will help preserve what's left so other generations can experience it, even if it's a bit different from how we all remember it. Sorry I got a little sappy there, but I really loved your comment! Thanks again man!
@@RetroRalph Hi Ralph! I am very glad that my comment struck home like it did. That's crushing to hear about with the artists not being allowed to overtly sign their art. I'm a huge proponent of credit where credit is due and anytime anyone makes something on their own that adds to something we're either nostalgic about or preserving their contributions should be noted/seen. Thanks for taking the time to reply like you did! Much appreciated!!
That is totally off the "cool chart" Back to her original glory. I love it! It is a true tribute to the game to spend the time, effort and money to make it authentic again decades later. Well played Ralph and Well played Galloping Ghost.
That was my real reaction too, I opened it for the first time with you guys. Man, I was so excited... I'm so happy with how it came out! Thanks so much for watching!
Believe it or not I had my eyes and ears looking out for one for you. My buddy owns 2 of The Grid machines, so I'm very familiar with how they look, etc. Glad you were able to find one!
Thanks Brother, I appreciate that. Also, thanks for watching! How have you been, I haven't seen any content from you in a while, everything ok? I'm down to 1 video a week now, work has really picked up this year.
this is all 3 of my kids favorite game. they love that they can be subzero and noob saibot in it. what can I say? I raise em right. they heard you talk about the grid and now we are all watching this. galloping ghost is amazingly awesome! Doc is a great guy!
@@RetroRalph goin well homie. Got to meet up with Justin and the rest at galloping ghost and was able to try that sega r360. Bro. That was wild. My 11 year did pretty well on it too lol. Hope Kim and the kids are awesome brotha.
@@RetroRalph nah man, he handled himself pretty well. Doc did put him on the tutorial, sim flight though. It was a great time. I think I got 32 or 38 but landed the aircraft carrier. It was my top gun redemption moment lol
Solid Cab dude! nice work and awesome work to galloping ghost, of course the corner mark would've had to be on there at some point anyway for legal reasons if that cab ever went back into service
that's super cool! dig the custom Galloping Ghost badge, kind of a neat touch! definitely kicking myself for never playing that one when I saw it in arcades... :(
Really awesome. It always feels so good to have a game checked off on the “complete” list. 👍 Now you just need more arcade space - as most of us on the West Coast do.
You need another. My first, and only so far, linked game. Was Harley Davidson la riders. I picked up a pair of non working cabinets with the intentions of making one out of the pair. Long story short, I linked them and am now low key looking for 1 or 2 more 😂
@@RetroRalph that they do. I’m starting to draw up plans to build an addition for mine. Might be able to break ground in it this fall yet before the ground freezes.
Thats cool that they did that for you and shipped that out. That place is really cool.. don't know if I would ever be able to go anywhere else on earth on the same level... maybe Japan?
Thanks for watching Steps, I hope all is well. Yeah, Galloping Ghost plays such a big role in the preservation of arcade games and the hobby. I do hope to take a trip to Japan one day as well but before that I need to check out FunSpot in NH, have you ever been?
@@RetroRalph no someone was mentioning that one last night in an after show… maybe it was Michael B. I live in Indianapolis, so GGA is 3 hours away. I’m gonna be in Cincinnati this weekend might check out an arcade Saturday night
Awesome video as always. That topper is so sick, and nice touch with their logo. BTW I should know this, but what game is that in the Neo Geo big red? Is it Shock Troopers?
You got this bro! If I lived close by I would come over and help you pack man. Packing sucks so I feel for you bud! Hang in there.... Miss you brother!
@@RetroRalph yeah it really sucks being I'm a physically broke dick person. I have a neighbor going to help me out a bit, and a former one as well. My back is killing me from lifting my 1ups off their risers. I'm going to be using the Risers and 1ups as boxes to store as much as possible, because one 16ft POD will not hold all my stuff individually.
i think your phone would be on engage lol your MRS would of thrown your phone in the nearest lake hope she didn't see the end of that video that you want another lol
