Hard mode complete! Defeated Sephiroth with no materia equipped on Aerith and no MP with Cloud. Wasn’t easy. So, I essentially no materia'd this final fight, but got it done after two hours. The key to beating Sephiroth on Hard Mode is maximizing ATB building with Spell Blade (saw akh discovered this too); dropping Radiant Ward and Transference for Aerith ASAP is crucial. Take advantage of his initial pressure gauge & get him to ~65% within first stagger. Follow up & be VERY aggressive with Cloud's Focused Thrust; Plasma Discharge + HP Absorb helps. Have Aerith kill his Masamune with Sorceress Storm during Whirlwind or use Spell Blade for Whisper Cannon. It'll be tempting to Stagger him again, but DO NOT DO IT HERE, SAVE IT. Use this Pressure opportunity to spam Spell Blade and build ATB for Aerith & Cloud, spending ATB to setup their Synergy Ability. Spend it as soon as he comes out of being Pressured. Then follow this up with spams from Aerith with Radiant Ward, he should be close to being Staggered, but time it for when he's literally going to cast Heartless Angel, STAGGER HERE. You'll bypass Heartless Angel and avoid wasting ATB to heal, once Staggerd, use Aerith's Transference II here and also Cloud's Infinity's End. Follow up with a single Spell Blade. This will push him into his final phase, upon which time you can unleash Cloud & Aerith's combined Limit Breaks that make you immune to damage and he'll drop like a stone. And yes, by doing this EXACTLY RIGHT, you can 100% bypass both Heartless Angel and push him deep into End is Nigh long before he ever uses Octaslash. I tested it multiple times. I never see Octaslash with this strat because I push him too fast into The End is Nigh; I hope both this written strategy and seeing akhafasu's guide helps.
That’s the main reason I look for these guides. I have already completed everting else with 160+ hours of gameplay, I only have to quickly complete the hard mode skipping all the cutscenes I don’t want to see again in order to get the plat. I don’t wanna bother studying the best combination for each boss fight! I have to say, it seems to me that hard mode on remake was easier than rebirth, I may be wrong but it does feel that way
The absolute worst is Rufus. Because if you die you have to go back in with the menu option and reset all the materia/skills/gear again. I about pulled all my damn hair out, lol.

Sometimes it's your state of mind. I've got stuck on boss fights, got frustrated, kept losing...took a break, came back later, relaxed and trying a new strategy...and win. I was surprised by how easy some Hard mode bosses were, but Dyne and Rufus are indeed alot tougher on Hard.
I've been using your setups for all the bosses, got stuck on Gi Nattak, even with the setup. I had to switch a couple things up like give both Healing and give Red Revive. I got to where I knew what I was doing, I didn't need the Revive at all. Crazy how fire Pressures him, wouldn't have guessed. Also when he summoned the many Soul Flames, I was only able to defeat them on time, everytime, when I had Red use Stardust Ray and let Barrett finish the rest off. Thanks again for the great strategies with all the bosses.
You're welcome. I wrote it in the description that my goal was not to use healing and revive, but for anyone having a hard time, remove anything you won't use and load up heals etc. Guess you did just that to suit your playstyle and aced it!
Set up Barrett with Expederp Medal and give Red the Limit Support to feed him. The medal resets on death so u can drop 2-4 lvl 3 limits in one fight. Couple the firaga spam and stop on stagger n ur on ur way
I finally did it. Used your builds on the demon gate and chapter 14. I enjoyed the sepiroth fight even in hard really much. But Jenova was totally crap. Tomorrow only the last brutal challenge and the legendary bouts are left for platinum.
@@akhafasu Thanks. This was really one of the worst platinum I have done. But the good thing about this is that you are not forced to farm many hours unlike in other FF Games like 13 oder 10. These are things were I will never trie to get a platinum.

I didn't read this description until now. Yeah, RNG plays a major factor in many of these builds. Unfortunately for me, RNGs never liked me. I knew gi nattak was going to be a problem for me, because other than cait sith, red is my least used character. The first couple loadouts i tried so far have gotten me all the way to the doom clock, only to have it run out when his health has no color left in it. lol.
@@akhafasuIt is already not so great when you fight against bosses the second time because of hard mode. But when you lose against them and always has to watch it is really annoying. When they want us to see cutscenes in fight they should do something like in FF13 where you have the react with the correct buttons.
I like coming here to see how more efficiently I could’ve handled these bosses after I’ve beaten them with my own strategies. Thus far I’m 12/14 completed and the hardest boss for me this far was Gi Nattak. But I got after an hour or two. Next up is 13 and 14. Update #1 Red Dragon was a bit gimmickier than I'd like (50/50 chance pillars wouldn't even touch him), but once you get him into phase two with ATB available, he's a breeze. Reno/Rude were surprisingly easy, Cloud died just as I was putting down Reno, but Tifa dropped 3 Chi Traps on Rude and instantly staggered him, roasting him in the process. Update #2 Tseng/Elena were one & done; while Demon Gate took three attempts, mostly just due to needing to apply Petrify + Warding on my armor and viola, 13 chapters down, one more to go. @@akhafasu having just finished Chapter 13, I went back and looked at your encounters; you seemed to have a better approach to the pillars with RD than I did, I need to try that next time. I was far more offensive against the Turks than you did, but nevertheless great show. Demon Gate I healed a few times, but I wanted to mention something you may or may not have noticed with him. It seems he's unable to grab you with "Crushing Grip" so long as you're either performing a Synergy Skill or Synergy Ability (1:35:49). I would take advantage of that and build massive ATB with Cloud and Aerith/Tifa using Power Cleave or Spell Blade. Just thought I'd bring that up, idk if that's intended or a glitch in his design. But it makes the fight much easier once you realize that.

@@akhafasu Hard Mode completed! Chapter 14 took a bit. My biggest hurdle was due to self inflicted wounds. Barret basically soloed Bahamut. And when I fought Sephiroth’s final fight, Cloud had no more mana and Aerith had no materia equipped. After about an hour, I got him down. It was disgustingly satisfying!!!!!
Dope video man! Definitely strategies I’m gonna try out! One thing I found helpful is using “Focused” moves like “shot, thrust, strike” to stagger enemies when they’re “pressured. I do that and then stop, and it’s money!! 💪

its a bit late, but there is a need little tec with Tifa that is currently the strongest combo for her, use overpower (chi 1), that gives a full ATB, then use empower (get chi 1 back) and use oberpower again. it gives 25 bonus % and raps up dmg like no other.
Okay this is seriously impressive gameplay. I just beat the game and want to go through it again just to try some stuff out. I know i need to get better at making quick decisions to be able to beat hard mode. I never did it for remake so thisll be my first attempt at it
You and Optinoob are amazing at this game, but I am curious about something. What's your process for coming up with a strategy for each boss? There are so many different builds with accessories, Materia, weapons, mechanics the game doesn't tell you about, it must be nearly impossible right?
Thank you. For me, I always scan and read the enemy weakness. Remake taught me that. That shows me how to stagger an enemy. When it comes to bosses, I make strategies along the way with whatever I’ve got at the time and then try to redo them in a different manner to see what would be more effective. When I did this boss run, I did not have any of the secret manuscripts and had not cleared any of the brutal or legendary bouts except perhaps one or two. The hardest part is setting up your materia again and again. It once you figure out some basic strategies like magnify with MP and HP absorb, the game becomes really easy
Thanks! I tweaked build slightly and zack segments i cleared in like a minute using quick charge/high braver. I put gotterdamerung on aerith and i used cloud full limit break thrice (Limit full going into phase, charge during combat, then limit syphon on aerith in “end is nigh”). I wasnt taking any chances so i just used gotterdamerung but tbh i staggered seph in final phase before limit kill just with aeriths magic/wards. So i didnt really need gotterdamerung but i just wanted the fight over with. FYI for bahamut, i put magnify barrier on barret and red 13 since you can randomly get either.
That’s a nice strategy. I wanted to do it without the Gotterdammerung and Genji Gloves. But I’ll definitely work on some builds to make these fights easier and manageable using them
Awesome chapter 14 build and gameplay. I had a harder time with the very last Sephiroth Cloud and Aerith fight than I did outer worlds and bonds of friendship by a mile. I used your final build but at Zack/Cloud checkpoint menu I swapped Aerith to use Gotterdamerung and used Clouds 1st limit for Octo slash and let Aerith heal herself while cloud siphoned her limit and then ended the fight with basically two back to back limit breaks with a few combos in between. That Jenova into final sequence is BRUTALLY overtuned compared to Remake hard mode and Weiss even if you know all the mechanics and perform nearly perfect it’s all way too much *in my opinion* and I am a multi build Souls and Elden ring lover and Sephiroth is *harder than Malenia blade of Miquella* what in the actual F square Enix lmao. Don’t get me wrong it’s my favorite final fantasy game but the plat trophy was harder than any other game I’ve played and it left a bitter taste in my mouth and didn’t feel rewarding to complete it was just to say F you to the play testers which probably don’t exist. There’s no way hard difficulty was play tested on final chapters and someone said “it’s fine.” Sorry for the rant had to get it off my chest after finishing. Thank you for your guide man much respect. TL;DR Version The last fight sequence made me big mad and I finished it with bitter revenge as my motivation using a couple changes but overall best guide so far I’ve seen. 😂

@@akhafasu Correct I threw on gotter but probably didn’t need it on Aerith she usually gets limit anyways. I let cloud get his first limit naturally during last fight and then used it for heartless Angel since it makes the user immune during animation. Then as soon as I had a moment siphoned aeriths limit and then used it for “end is nigh” because I kept dying otherwise and it saved me from healing cloud and Aerith had time since seph was getting nuked by clouds limit. And spot on thanks for understanding my point lol 😆
In Chapter 14, how do you manipulate your party so you have who you want in each fight? Against Bahamut Whisper I had Barret, Tifa and Cait. I wanted Yuffie instead of Cait. And in the next fight it was Tifa, Red and Yuffie. Barret is present but not active and I wanted him instead of Red. -- Anyway, I got the platinum tonight. Finishing Chapter 14 on Hard was the last thing I needed. I wouldn't wish this frustration on anyone. This game has left an incredibly bitter taste. First time around the bitter taste was the ending and second time the frustration. F**k this game and any future nonsense mechanics they come up with. It was Gilgamesh who ended up pulling me out of the pickle I was in with Aerith dead and Cloud with 0MP. I finished off Sephiroth with Infinity's End just as an f-u
Chapter 14 how do you get the party members you want to fight with? I tried restarting and rearranging them but it keeps defaulting me with Cloud, Tifa, Barret at the start. It really screwed me for when I got to Bahamut. They gave me Yuffie instead of Barret

I watched your vid but unfortunately on Chapter 14 you only get to use Aerith at the very end, and it's just her and Cloud as you know. ;) I was curious how to best use it on Ch14 since you clearly have a much better grasp on strategy than I do and it is giving me a headache trying to figure out how to best use it across 14's boss gauntlet on top of which the party is constantly being swapped. I'm guessing it's best to have it on Cloud but not sure who to put limit syphon on. I have all possible accessories and maxed materia if that helps :P

Might have to restart since I don't have magnify-heal--just regular heal--or breach/dispel on Cloud/Red/Cait and I can't seem to do much magic damage once it gets pressured and becomes immune to physical attacks. I thought I was going to have Barret who has all that materia :P

how did you juggle Rufus like that? He always uses Pusishment after a bit and gets out of it when I try. I've been stuck on him for 4 hours now. I've got his first phase down -I make it to phase 2 probably 50% of the time now- but I always die once Darkstar joins. Being able to stagger Rufus at the begginning of the second phase seems like a something I could maybe try for.
Is it a valid strategy to just toss a revival earring on all 7 characters for chapter 14's boss gauntlet or would that basically be a waste knowing there's a lot better accessory choices? Only need to complete 14 on hard now for the platinum and I'm kinda nervous about doing this tomorrow but if I was able to do all those crazy combat sim fights I should be able to do this.
The second the fight starts I would either, Counterstance, or Focus Slash , Triple Slash didn't seem to work at the very beginning even though it's faster. But Either one will Pressure him as you start. Sometimes he would dash to the opposite end of the arena just as quick as I tried to pressure. You can also instant stagger him 1 time per phase with stop or Braver from the air while he reloads
Why do I have Yuffie, instead of Barret during the Bahamut Arisen phase of Sephiroth Reborn? I can't get past this phase because of having her. How do I set it up to have him instead?

@@akhafasu With how much emphasis they put on the relationship level, I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct. Personally, I wouldn't have it impact anything after ch 12. Imo, there shouldn't be any random party member sections during the final boss. Especially during hard mode
Don't understand how you got Genji Gloves on chapter 4 hard mode when you can't access the Malboro fight to get the Slimy Tendril until Gongago in Chapter 9? Did you just skip to the chapter beforehand?

I have Swiftcast, magic focus, magic efficiency and warding left to level. I already farmed 7x of each materia and everything else. It's the 18k that feels like it'll take forever. I need more chocobo armbands that don't exist lol.

@@akhafasu So I used the guide, cut the far pulls and now all that is left are the 2 magic focus materia. Now my setup is Cloud as a mage with magnify+swiftcast+magic efficiency(all on ice), chocoking cape, first strike materia. I have infinite mana and kill everything with one blizzaga. 10k left to go on both those materia. Oh and I made over 2 million gil just leveling time materia in the process.
You need to use the skill a certain number of time. Your weapon will then have a tick mark next to it meaning you’ve learnt the skill. Then you can use any weapon and the skill will be there
I know this sounds stupid but I’ve been on this chapter for 2 days I can’t do it, I can’t get past Sephiroth reborn no matter what I do. Can someone please finish this chapter for me I’m begging anyone! I will pay someone too I just want it finished. I just want to move on and do other things.
@@akhafasuyeah I keep screwing up and can’t make it past Sephiroth reborn. I had to quit to do something outside and when I started again I was back at the altar so no checkpoints or auto save in between those Jenova fights and the one with Cloud and Zack is a pain in the ass. I’d rather do the brutal challenges and legendary challenges because those are fun.
@@akhafasu Bad mini-games with bad controls, sudden extreme difficulty spikes, repetitive "open world" exploration, the entire Cait Sith portion and of course...the ending. I did enjoy the first few chapters at least, the character interactions and a few set pieces were great. But overall I spent more time frustrated or bored than having fun.
I was stuck on him for a whole day as well. But managed to beat him. I’ll be working on new strategies and see how I can make these better. Keep an eye out. Might even start with Gi Nattak
Funny because I actually enjoyed the platinum alot! Took me 200 hours. But yes I agree, it's not all great like having to do Gears and Gambits hard mode sucked and some of the Queensblood stuff at the end was very hard, but I mostly enjoyed the minigames.

I just will never understand why the bosses simply act different when I'm tryin this. He's so passive in this, in mine he's fucking coming at me nonstop like a truck... It's so absurd. I am doing to the tee the exact same shit and it doesn't matter. He chunks my dudes healths nonstop or grabs red when I'm using barret.
Your Galian Beast strategy DOES NOT WORK. I'm doing everything to a T and I've died over 50 times. Never seen the boss act as passive as in your playthrough.
Honestly hard mode and combat sim aren't fun. I don't even know why I'm doing this anymore to be completely honest I guess I just want to get weapon level nine and party level 10 then go back to the game that was fun, remake and crisis core reunion. This one has been the most split game I've ever played I loved 100 hours of it. Last 259 have been unbearably boring tedious and gimmicky and the gimmicks from rulers of the outer world burn me out for the past few months should be doing stuff in my real life but I just want to get this done to prove to myself that I can then that's it. rebirths hard mode is def more challenging compared to remakes your not wrong there.@@It_isAndrew

Sometimes it's your state of mind. I've got stuck on boss fights, got frustrated, kept losing...took a break, came back later, relaxed and trying a new strategy...and win.
I was surprised by how easy some Hard mode bosses were, but Dyne and Rufus are indeed alot tougher on Hard.

I've been using your setups for all the bosses, got stuck on Gi Nattak, even with the setup. I had to switch a couple things up like give both Healing and give Red Revive. I got to where I knew what I was doing, I didn't need the Revive at all. Crazy how fire Pressures him, wouldn't have guessed. Also when he summoned the many Soul Flames, I was only able to defeat them on time, everytime, when I had Red use Stardust Ray and let Barrett finish the rest off. Thanks again for the great strategies with all the bosses.
You're welcome. I wrote it in the description that my goal was not to use healing and revive, but for anyone having a hard time, remove anything you won't use and load up heals etc. Guess you did just that to suit your playstyle and aced it!

It takes some time to figure out his openings. Just triple slash him any time you see him move or when he’s about to do an attack

Set up Barrett with Expederp Medal and give Red the Limit Support to feed him. The medal resets on death so u can drop 2-4 lvl 3 limits in one fight.
Couple the firaga spam and stop on stagger n ur on ur way

I finally did it. Used your builds on the demon gate and chapter 14. I enjoyed the sepiroth fight even in hard really much. But Jenova was totally crap. Tomorrow only the last brutal challenge and the legendary bouts are left for platinum.

@@akhafasu Thanks. This was really one of the worst platinum I have done. But the good thing about this is that you are not forced to farm many hours unlike in other FF Games like 13 oder 10. These are things were I will never trie to get a platinum.

I didn't read this description until now. Yeah, RNG plays a major factor in many of these builds. Unfortunately for me, RNGs never liked me. I knew gi nattak was going to be a problem for me, because other than cait sith, red is my least used character. The first couple loadouts i tried so far have gotten me all the way to the doom clock, only to have it run out when his health has no color left in it. lol.
He gave me a tough time too. But I’ll be revising these strategies and try to come up with better ones

Yeah, agree with you on that. They need to be skippable. It’s not like there’s QTEs that force you to watch it
@@akhafasuIt is already not so great when you fight against bosses the second time because of hard mode. But when you lose against them and always has to watch it is really annoying. When they want us to see cutscenes in fight they should do something like in FF13 where you have the react with the correct buttons.

I like coming here to see how more efficiently I could’ve handled these bosses after I’ve beaten them with my own strategies.
Thus far I’m 12/14 completed and the hardest boss for me this far was Gi Nattak. But I got after an hour or two. Next up is 13 and 14.
Update #1
Red Dragon was a bit gimmickier than I'd like (50/50 chance pillars wouldn't even touch him), but once you get him into phase two with ATB available, he's a breeze.
Reno/Rude were surprisingly easy, Cloud died just as I was putting down Reno, but Tifa dropped 3 Chi Traps on Rude and instantly staggered him, roasting him in the process.

Tseng/Elena were one & done; while Demon Gate took three attempts, mostly just due to needing to apply Petrify + Warding on my armor and viola, 13 chapters down, one more to go.
Update #3
Hard mode complete. Defeated Sephiroth with no materia equipped on Aerith and no MP with Cloud. Wasn’t easy. So I essentially no materia'd this final fight, but got it done after two hours.
The key to beating Sephiroth on Hard Mode is maximizing ATB building with Spell Blade (saw akh discovered this too); dropping Radiant Ward and Transference for Aerith ASAP is crucial.
Take advantage of his initial pressure gauge & get him to ~65% within first stagger. Follow up & be VERY aggressive with Cloud's Focused Thrust; Plasma Discharge + HP Absorb helps.
Have Aerith kill his Masamune with Sorceress Storm during Whirlwind or use Spell Blade for Whisper Cannon. It'll be tempting to Stagger him again, but DO NOT DO IT HERE, SAVE IT.
Use this Pressure opportunity to spam Spell Blade and build ATB for Aerith & Cloud, spending ATB to setup their Synergy Ability. Spend it as soon as he comes out of being Pressured.
Then follow this up with spams from Aerith with Radiant Ward, he should be close to being Staggered, but time it for when he's literally going to cast Heartless Angel, STAGGER HERE.
You'll bypass Heartless Angel and avoid wasting ATB to heal, once Staggerd, use Aerith's Transference II here and also Cloud's Infinity's End. Follow up with a single Spell Blade.
This will push him into his final phase, upon which time you can unleash Cloud & Aerith's combined Limit Breaks that make you immune to damage and he'll drop like a stone.

@@akhafasu having just finished Chapter 13, I went back and looked at your encounters; you seemed to have a better approach to the pillars with RD than I did, I need to try that next time. I was far more offensive against the Turks than you did, but nevertheless great show. Demon Gate I healed a few times, but I wanted to mention something you may or may not have noticed with him. It seems he's unable to grab you with "Crushing Grip" so long as you're either performing a Synergy Skill or Synergy Ability (1:35:49). I would take advantage of that and build massive ATB with Cloud and Aerith/Tifa using Power Cleave or Spell Blade. Just thought I'd bring that up, idk if that's intended or a glitch in his design. But it makes the fight much easier once you realize that.

@@akhafasu Hard Mode completed! Chapter 14 took a bit. My biggest hurdle was due to self inflicted wounds. Barret basically soloed Bahamut. And when I fought Sephiroth’s final fight, Cloud had no more mana and Aerith had no materia equipped. After about an hour, I got him down. It was disgustingly satisfying!!!!!

Dope video man! Definitely strategies I’m gonna try out! One thing I found helpful is using “Focused” moves like “shot, thrust, strike” to stagger enemies when they’re “pressured. I do that and then stop, and it’s money!! 💪

its a bit late, but there is a need little tec with Tifa that is currently the strongest combo for her, use overpower (chi 1), that gives a full ATB, then use empower (get chi 1 back) and use oberpower again.
it gives 25 bonus % and raps up dmg like no other.

You and Optinoob are amazing at this game, but I am curious about something. What's your process for coming up with a strategy for each boss? There are so many different builds with accessories, Materia, weapons, mechanics the game doesn't tell you about, it must be nearly impossible right?
Thank you. For me, I always scan and read the enemy weakness. Remake taught me that. That shows me how to stagger an enemy. When it comes to bosses, I make strategies along the way with whatever I’ve got at the time and then try to redo them in a different manner to see what would be more effective. When I did this boss run, I did not have any of the secret manuscripts and had not cleared any of the brutal or legendary bouts except perhaps one or two. The hardest part is setting up your materia again and again. It once you figure out some basic strategies like magnify with MP and HP absorb, the game becomes really easy

Thanks! I tweaked build slightly and zack segments i cleared in like a minute using quick charge/high braver. I put gotterdamerung on aerith and i used cloud full limit break thrice (Limit full going into phase, charge during combat, then limit syphon on aerith in “end is nigh”).
I wasnt taking any chances so i just used gotterdamerung but tbh i staggered seph in final phase before limit kill just with aeriths magic/wards. So i didnt really need gotterdamerung but i just wanted the fight over with.
FYI for bahamut, i put magnify barrier on barret and red 13 since you can randomly get either.
That’s a nice strategy. I wanted to do it without the Gotterdammerung and Genji Gloves. But I’ll definitely work on some builds to make these fights easier and manageable using them

Awesome chapter 14 build and gameplay. I had a harder time with the very last Sephiroth Cloud and Aerith fight than I did outer worlds and bonds of friendship by a mile. I used your final build but at Zack/Cloud checkpoint menu I swapped Aerith to use Gotterdamerung and used Clouds 1st limit for Octo slash and let Aerith heal herself while cloud siphoned her limit and then ended the fight with basically two back to back limit breaks with a few combos in between.
That Jenova into final sequence is BRUTALLY overtuned compared to Remake hard mode and Weiss even if you know all the mechanics and perform nearly perfect it’s all way too much *in my opinion* and I am a multi build Souls and Elden ring lover and Sephiroth is *harder than Malenia blade of Miquella* what in the actual F square Enix lmao.
Don’t get me wrong it’s my favorite final fantasy game but the plat trophy was harder than any other game I’ve played and it left a bitter taste in my mouth and didn’t feel rewarding to complete it was just to say F you to the play testers which probably don’t exist. There’s no way hard difficulty was play tested on final chapters and someone said “it’s fine.” Sorry for the rant had to get it off my chest after finishing. Thank you for your guide man much respect.
TL;DR Version The last fight sequence made me big mad and I finished it with bitter revenge as my motivation using a couple changes but overall best guide so far I’ve seen. 😂

Unlike other games, like God of War, where you can make any kind of build to get the job done no matter how hard the boss is, that’s not the case over here. For your last battle you did two back to back limits on Sephi with the Gotter on Aerith?
@@akhafasu Correct I threw on gotter but probably didn’t need it on Aerith she usually gets limit anyways. I let cloud get his first limit naturally during last fight and then used it for heartless Angel since it makes the user immune during animation. Then as soon as I had a moment siphoned aeriths limit and then used it for “end is nigh” because I kept dying otherwise and it saved me from healing cloud and Aerith had time since seph was getting nuked by clouds limit. And spot on thanks for understanding my point lol 😆

In Chapter 14, how do you manipulate your party so you have who you want in each fight? Against Bahamut Whisper I had Barret, Tifa and Cait. I wanted Yuffie instead of Cait. And in the next fight it was Tifa, Red and Yuffie. Barret is present but not active and I wanted him instead of Red. -- Anyway, I got the platinum tonight. Finishing Chapter 14 on Hard was the last thing I needed. I wouldn't wish this frustration on anyone. This game has left an incredibly bitter taste. First time around the bitter taste was the ending and second time the frustration. F**k this game and any future nonsense mechanics they come up with. It was Gilgamesh who ended up pulling me out of the pickle I was in with Aerith dead and Cloud with 0MP. I finished off Sephiroth with Infinity's End just as an f-u
To my understanding it's random. Don't really know how it works to be honest. I'll look into it though

Chapter 14 how do you get the party members you want to fight with? I tried restarting and rearranging them but it keeps defaulting me with Cloud, Tifa, Barret at the start. It really screwed me for when I got to Bahamut. They gave me Yuffie instead of Barret
I heard (but don't have proof) that the 3 choices you make in the other timeline with Aerith will have an effect on your party members during the last fights
To my understanding it's random. But there might be another reason.

Use a limit break when the enemy does their most brutal or unblockable attack. Also, since you have a limit break all set, you can use Aerith to do infinite limit breaks:

I was curious how to best use it on Ch14 since you clearly have a much better grasp on strategy than I do and it is giving me a headache trying to figure out how to best use it across 14's boss gauntlet on top of which the party is constantly being swapped. I'm guessing it's best to have it on Cloud but not sure who to put limit syphon on. I have all possible accessories and maxed materia if that helps :P

@@akhafasu I have beaten the game on normal, currently on the last phase of Jenova Lifeclinger on hard as I type this. Might have to restart since I don't have magnify-heal--just regular heal--or breach/dispel on Cloud/Red/Cait and I can't seem to do much magic damage once it gets pressured and becomes immune to physical attacks. I thought I was going to have Barret who has all that materia :P

how did you juggle Rufus like that? He always uses Pusishment after a bit and gets out of it when I try. I've been stuck on him for 4 hours now. I've got his first phase down -I make it to phase 2 probably 50% of the time now- but I always die once Darkstar joins. Being able to stagger Rufus at the begginning of the second phase seems like a something I could maybe try for.

Is it a valid strategy to just toss a revival earring on all 7 characters for chapter 14's boss gauntlet or would that basically be a waste knowing there's a lot better accessory choices? Only need to complete 14 on hard now for the platinum and I'm kinda nervous about doing this tomorrow but if I was able to do all those crazy combat sim fights I should be able to do this.
You won’t do much damage or anything else that the accessories provide if you use revival earrings

In the cutscene if you hold down square, you can get access to the menu before the Rufus fight

How attack Rufus that long combo i use atb command when he Reload but he Counter me quickly
I use circle to dodge and then continue attacks
The second the fight starts I would either, Counterstance, or Focus Slash , Triple Slash didn't seem to work at the very beginning even though it's faster. But Either one will Pressure him as you start. Sometimes he would dash to the opposite end of the arena just as quick as I tried to pressure. You can also instant stagger him 1 time per phase with stop or Braver from the air while he reloads
Why do I have Yuffie, instead of Barret during the Bahamut Arisen phase of Sephiroth Reborn? I can't get past this phase because of having her. How do I set it up to have him instead?
I think that is all based on your relationship level. Mine is maxed with all the characters. May be there’s some other reason, I’m not sure honestly
@@akhafasu If it's based on relationship level, then that's terrible game design. Relationship level should only matter during battles, when Cloud is in the party
Honestly, not sure how the characters are decided in the last battle, but that is just my theory
@@akhafasu With how much emphasis they put on the relationship level, I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct. Personally, I wouldn't have it impact anything after ch 12. Imo, there shouldn't be any random party member sections during the final boss. Especially during hard mode

Don't understand how you got Genji Gloves on chapter 4 hard mode when you can't access the Malboro fight to get the Slimy Tendril until Gongago in Chapter 9? Did you just skip to the chapter beforehand?
obviously this is essentially his third run through each chapter after figuring out these strats he went back to record the video segments, thats prety easy to understand
Hard mode is accessible after you’ve completed the game. Once I did, I got the Genji Armlet and then went through all the chapters one by one.

If you lose, you’ll get a screen with some options. Choose the first one and it will restart from your current battle/the boss you’re fighting
How did you do galian beast with tifa n aerith? Mines had cait locked I. The party at that point ?
It’s with Caith Sith, Aerith and Cloud
What does the luck up materia do ? Also the sprite up ?
Luck up increases chance of landing more damage and critical hits. Spirit I think has something to do with the ATB gauge/magic defense
Spirit is Magic Defence. It tells you in the "manual" part of the menu

I have Swiftcast, magic focus, magic efficiency and warding left to level. I already farmed 7x of each materia and everything else. It's the 18k that feels like it'll take forever. I need more chocobo armbands that don't exist lol.

@@akhafasu So I used the guide, cut the far pulls and now all that is left are the 2 magic focus materia. Now my setup is Cloud as a mage with magnify+swiftcast+magic efficiency(all on ice), chocoking cape, first strike materia. I have infinite mana and kill everything with one blizzaga. 10k left to go on both those materia. Oh and I made over 2 million gil just leveling time materia in the process.

You can check the builds after every fight. I did the hard mode right after completing my game, didn’t do any of the VR challenges.

how are you able to use Focused Thrust without having the buster equipped?
You need to use the skill a certain number of time. Your weapon will then have a tick mark next to it meaning you’ve learnt the skill. Then you can use any weapon and the skill will be there

Duuude. It literally tells you at the start of the game. Check the "manual" section of the menu for mastering skills
Is it that the boss was beaten in 5 mins or it’s in 5 min segments cause I’ve only watched the first boss fight and it’s sped up.
Lol. Yeah when I said under 5 mins, I meant without the cutscenes. I’ve also included builds for every fight.

Find it better but Unbridled is ok too
Unfettered is so good for staggering. I never use Unbridled anymore

I know this sounds stupid but I’ve been on this chapter for 2 days I can’t do it, I can’t get past Sephiroth reborn no matter what I do. Can someone please finish this chapter for me I’m begging anyone! I will pay someone too I just want it finished. I just want to move on and do other things.

@@akhafasuyeah I keep screwing up and can’t make it past Sephiroth reborn. I had to quit to do something outside and when I started again I was back at the altar so no checkpoints or auto save in between those Jenova fights and the one with Cloud and Zack is a pain in the ass. I’d rather do the brutal challenges and legendary challenges because those are fun.

@@akhafasu Bad mini-games with bad controls, sudden extreme difficulty spikes, repetitive "open world" exploration, the entire Cait Sith portion and of course...the ending.
I did enjoy the first few chapters at least, the character interactions and a few set pieces were great. But overall I spent more time frustrated or bored than having fun.

I was stuck on him for a whole day as well. But managed to beat him. I’ll be working on new strategies and see how I can make these better. Keep an eye out. Might even start with Gi Nattak

Funny because I actually enjoyed the platinum alot! Took me 200 hours. But yes I agree, it's not all great like having to do Gears and Gambits hard mode sucked and some of the Queensblood stuff at the end was very hard, but I mostly enjoyed the minigames.

I just will never understand why the bosses simply act different when I'm tryin this. He's so passive in this, in mine he's fucking coming at me nonstop like a truck... It's so absurd. I am doing to the tee the exact same shit and it doesn't matter. He chunks my dudes healths nonstop or grabs red when I'm using barret.

Your Galian Beast strategy DOES NOT WORK. I'm doing everything to a T and I've died over 50 times. Never seen the boss act as passive as in your playthrough.

Honestly hard mode and combat sim aren't fun. I don't even know why I'm doing this anymore to be completely honest I guess I just want to get weapon level nine and party level 10 then go back to the game that was fun, remake and crisis core reunion. This one has been the most split game I've ever played
I loved 100 hours of it. Last 259 have been unbearably boring tedious and gimmicky and the gimmicks from rulers of the outer world burn me out for the past few months should be doing stuff in my real life but I just want to get this done to prove to myself that I can then that's it.
