I think this was good result for a B/C team USA. You have to consider that these were players that were on their off season and some were played out of position like Parkhurst. As of the RB problem I honestly believe Klins will start Geoff Cameron over Brad Evans so no worries. I expected the team to be rusty and Korea had just came fresh off of other friendlies so of course they had an advantage. Well done team USA now on to Ukraine in March!
Some people don't realize this was mostly MLS players who won't be on the WC roster. It doesn't matter what the results were or what the back line looked like. This was a competition for the last WC roster spots. Most of the starting 11 weren't even at this camp.
Our backline had 2 starting centerbacks A players (Gonzo, Besler). Only the flanks were tryouts. That is why the US look weak and beaten a few times by the Korean flanks. We were lucky that the Koreans didn't have finishing touches but Portugal, Germany and Ghana will punish if the flanks are that weak.
This isn't about who's better and I'm aware that Korea used domestic players. Point is both teams were trying to find standouts to take to Brazil. Some people are critiquing the match as if it's an indicator how these teams will play in the WC. Just like the commentators said results are meaningless this match is for the coaches to make tune ups. Some Mexico fans think team is better because of a 4-0 result vs a 2-0 result.

This Korean game (the Korean team) reminded me of the US team 10 years ago...good athletes running as fast as they can...not a lot of strategy, just raw talent.... there is certainly a future with the Koreans.... Just hoping none occur at the World Cup this summer but who knows its happened before.
USMNT needs more tactical and skillful players like Donovan who can score, assist or create opportunities for others to score. If they had 4 skillful players like that in every game, they will do better. Second goal is interesting.
don't judge them by this game. this was mostly the B-team vying for the final spots on the roster. as far as the type of players you mention go, clent dempsy fits that bill, and aron johannsson, graham zusi and mix diskarud are up-and-coming players who could eventually fill that role.
Yes, we need more skillful players. We need players who can move in spaces and pass better. We had no one who can play one-on-one or stay calm under pressure and hold the ball. The Koreans looked much better moving the ball and passing it. They just couldn't finish.

Joseph Seo South Korea lost to Iran in Ulsan in WC qualifying, in a crucial match no less. Oh, yeah, they tied Lebanon (!) in qualifying too. FIFA ranking of 53? The USA had maybe 3 starters on the pitch to probably 5 or 6 for S. Korea. S.Korea had a couple of games to warm-up for this match and gel as a team, having played Mexico (4-0 loss to the same Mexico that barely qualified for the WC and was thoroughly handled by a full-strength USA squad) and Costa Rica in the previous two weeks while the USA hadn't played in months. And S. Korea still loses 2-0. So, yeah, I think we can say that the USA is definitively better than S. Korea. And that's no knock on S.Korea, that's just reality. S.Korea will have a much improved team in about two years or so, but they just aren't that good right now, and to make excuses for this loss looks pretty pathetic. They are what they are, so just accept it and move on.

Landon Donovan totally disappeared.. I was expecting more from him. Nevertheless great game but got a little boring at the end since the US didn't want to attack.. even the people were booing they wanted to see some action
The team was probably gassed out by the end. 3 1/2 weeks of intense training took a toll, Add to that the travelling involved to and form Brazil.

bob saget Uh, no there are only like 9 Korean players in all of Europe, and some of them play on teams that aren't even very good. U.S. starters would beat Korea's starters, and the U.S. bench players would beat Korea's bench players, which happened in this game.

I can percive lot of yanks overexcited with this careless victory about their national team even when Mexico National Football Team, also known worldwide as "The Giant of Concacaf", with its 'C' squad (near 'D') won 4-0 to Korea Republic and we're taking it so normal.

Well that completely makes up for Mexico's pathetic WC qualification run in which they almost lost their WC spot to the powerhouse that is Panama if not for US beating them in stoppage time while team Mexico cried on the field thinking they would not even qualify....Dos a Cero my friend!!!
No one's been calling Mexico the giant of CONCACAF right now. They finished in 4th in qualifying. a 4-0 friendly win against South Korea doesn't make people forget about matches that matter.
