Don’t put that coil in water even though it says it’s waterproof. Mine got wet and the damn thing just beeps every time i move it now. After a few days of drying it’s better, but there was water coming out of the coil. Mine isn’t waterproof for sure. I also have the Discovery 1100 from Dicks sporting goods. Both are going back to the store as soon as my Nokta Simplex Ultra is delivered.
Holy cow! I put the harbour freight nine function in water and it messed up for a few months til it dried out. Thanks for the heads up. They swear it's waterproof. I got two of the Gordon's so if one messes up due to water damage I got another.

Oh the Gordon works. Just gotta get used to the way it works. Figgerin' out The different tones and also how to best use the discrimination circuit.
It says coins and I find coins. But I tried to dial out aluminum and still dug a can. So for me there is still a larnin' curve. The nine function let me dial out aluminum perfectly. Just gotta figger out how to do that with the Gordon. Thanks for watching!

Hey stumpy! I could not have afforded the Gordon if not for it being on sale.
These types of hobby items can and do pay for themselves.
Done got around fifteen bucks and a few cool items.
Learning the machine is both fun and rewarding.
I like to test that up against my Dr Otek to see how they match up. Im a beginner and heard i got a decent one for the price

I have a 20 year old bounty hunter quick silver and a Nox 900.. I still use the 20 year old metal detector . Maybe Ill get ue to the 900.

The Gordon machine was affordable for me. 119.00 on sale. Is the nox 900 Way more than 149.00?
@@rickylakemusic I was very hesitant about buying the nox900.. its good no doubt.. but $1000 good? Probably not for me. I just don't have that much time to spend doing it any more

I bought a Gordon from Harbor freight and the coil will not stay in place it wants to flop up and down 😮
What should I do 😔
Same thing happened to me. I had the spacers on the outside instead of in the holes where they belong.
There are two spacers that fit snugly into the inside of the end of the shaft where it fits onto the coil.
I had put them in the incorrect place.
Went back and removed the coil and repositioned the two black rubber spacers where they go, replaced the coil and nuts and it works fine then.
Real head shaker.
The instructions should be a bit more informative.
Just put them spacers where they are supposed to be and you'll see that it is sturdy and tight.
My friend told me that one has to be smarter than what you're working with. Haha! It's funny cause it's true.
I just looked at the assembly instructions (online PDF file) and saw that the two spacers are part number 11. They go inside the shaft then the shaft fits into the coile, then simply insert the bolt, attach the squarish nut and tighten the easy turn assembly until snug.
I have mine so finely adjusted that I can push it down on the ground to make it more flat or parallel to the surface. It moves easily yet stays put after I begin swangin!
I like this machine.
Hey Doug, please Let me know if you are able to reassemble yer Gordon properly, I actually somehow lost one of the rubber spacers on the floor as I was getting the parts out of the packaging.
After much fruitless and futile searching for a solid hour, I had given up on finding the spacer,
( I thought of and discarded many ideas for a cheap household fix) then my rescue cat walked up and dropped the missing spacer out of it's mouth, right in front of me.
So I slapped it together and kaboom!
Already found ten dollars worth of clad.

I got the vanquish 540.
I took the Gordon out today in jewelry mode. It went right over a ton of trash, never made a peep. Then kept finding dimes and quarters in the low eighties.
77, 76 are older pennies which I have dug enough to realize the machine is letting me know.
I'm held back only by lack of swinging time. As I swing more, the triple tones will be more helpful in deciding what to dig and the sheer precision of discrimination will show me what Not to dig.
I've noticed that the same items will display different numbers on different machines.
Are they all calibrated differently?
I'd think that a quarter is a low eighty on all machines. 83,84
Dimes are 81, 79
Diggin trash is way less fun than diggin treasure.
This machine finds what's there.

I looked it up, and while I ain't got the duckies for that sweet machine, (lucky dog!) I feel this Gordon will serve me well as a step up from an analogue to a digital detector.
Lots to learn and tons of fun to be had!

Oh the Gordon comes with a neato electronics cover that snaps on in seconds and has a transparent cover that works just fine. I been finding lots of coins so far.
