I was just in Vientiane last year and found it to be very laidback. And yes, it doesn’t even feel like a capital city to me too. More of like a mid-sized town to me. Many people dont like this city but I like it for the chill vibe that it gives. Can’t wait to return this year 🇱🇦
U wanna enjoy Night Life u needed.to hang out with Locals..That knows the place... I was.there I don't needed.to go to Big City like Bangkok.or Hanoi Vietnam.. I had a blast that I don't need to go To big cities like Bangkok.. Now i flie back every Year to LAOS..
Yes it is very low key looking for being a Capital City and hopefully it will boom in the future. Nice work and it is clear the lot of research you have put in to this. Well done mate. 🤩
Hi 👋 I’ve just subscribed to your channel … very nice videos and good information … I’ve just left 2 weeks ago … I spent almost 6 weeks there and…. I love Laos ❤
How ugly the riverside has become, thanks mainly to the nasty night market buildings. In the Lao 'good ole days' ,we used to sit in an original wooden shack style bar on the actual riverbank, eating grilled chicken ,drinking Beer Lao, draught and bottled, watching the sun go down over the Maekhong.
Along the Mekong River where you travel, if you want to see beautiful views, travel during the dry season. The weather will be good. There will be many people in the evening and at night. But because this is the rainy season, there are floods. The weather is covered by water. It doesn't look very beautiful. But thank you for choosing Laos as another part of your travel destination. Have fun traveling in Laos. Lao people welcome you all the time.😊😊😊🙏🏻
Hi there! thx for showing us around in Vientiane. I'm Lao/American, been there twice in Vientiane and i think it is quite boring and not much to do. But i do love Luang Prabang!
I lived in Laos for several years and it has become another province of China. If you want to know what Vientiane will look like in 5 years, go see Sihanoukville in Cambodia, where 90% of all the businesses there are owned by the Chinese mofos who specialize in human trafficking from the Golden Triangle region. The locals there drive tuktuks and nothing else.
Have to say thanks for your commentaries and videos of beautiful Laos. I reckon Cambodia attracts more tourists due to its ancient temples and Hollywood movies.
Couldn't agree more with the Chinese investment in Laos. I lived there for almost 4 years. That was my favorite street for finding food, but not for living. I stayed for one month at one of the hotels you passed during my first month in Laos. Day2Night Resto wasn't that big at that time. I hope Laos doesn't end up like Cambodia, e.g., Sihanoukville. I loved Sihanoukville 10 years ago.
I love Laos ❤🇱🇦. I live in the US, actually in San Francisco. California. I love the laidback, tranquil environment unlike the neighboring countries. China is everywhere in any Asian countries, but they lend a helping to Laos. They are willing to loan it to build the infrastructure, to connect to Laos such as the High Speed Train. Others countries have to foot their own bills, only the technical advices. Laos is one the poorest countries In Southeast Asia, but do you notice that there are no slums like the other countries, especially the richer countries than Laos. Hopefully, Laos will take her time to pick and choose what to build and what to do, who can invest, not just to build to attract tourism. Self sustaining is very important than depending on tourism alone. (Others) might not survive without the tourists. I am Lao (not Laotian) by the way.
Maar even goed leuke locals ontmoet en daar tijd mee door gebracht. thanks. keep up the good work.
You make Lao T Shirt cool 😊😊😊😊..Laos are really slow life. Not entertainment night life like in Bangkok. Night life meat Market for Tourist..lol.😅😅😅 love your video..Chai..thanks for sharing
Vientiane brt is now alreaby at the construction stage and some stops are almost finished....according to plans, 18 brt stops should be completed by the end of this year.
Lets hope Vientiane does not get "Shinoukvillified"....with the precarious state of the Chinese economy right now and the role of gambling in that dodgy town, I think it's safe....🤔

Lots of interesting and beautiful buildings. There seems to be places to explore and since the food is good I would enjoy visiting this small city.

Hmmm, not so ugly in my opinion :) but ey, it seems like you had a good time
Yes, those were the days. So many good bars on the river bank before they turned it into a concrete escarpment.

Thanks! I hope it will get better financially with the local people, as most of the locals work very hard for not a lot 🙏
Welcome to the Lao PDR.
Thanks Champ Chai, and thanks for standing in front of one of the hotels we are looking at staying in (sadly not until 2026), safe travels :)
Ey champ Phil! Ow no, 2026 is still far away, but it is surely coming :D You'll love it mate. Thanks again

Thank you
Lovee your work ❤❤❤❤😊😊
Thank you ❤️
Did I hear correctly? $1,100 or $1,200 PER NIGHT for a clean hotel room that doesn't smell?
That’s Thai Baht I was talking about 😂
Which city do you think better to retire, Siem Reap or Vientiane?
I'd think Siem Reap. I love it there 😍
Great 👍
Looks like everyplace in Thailand
:p
I like the city but after 3-days I ran out of things to do :)
Fair enough. I think it’s a nice city to stop for a few days and can be a little too mellow for a long while :) thanks for watching!
Not many people living in Laos roughly about 7million people I think
ສະບາຍດີ ❤
You'd make a good diplomat, Chai 😅
Maybe one day! ;P nice profile picture!
Very interesting
I should visit there again.

It's pronounced Vieng Chan/Jan, not tian.
Thank you 🙏
