...I guess we can count this as a reinterpretation of Baby Dazz, eh?
Even as an American watching Thomas when I was a kid, I wasnt aware of the sequel series, or who the conductor was. This is actually my first time of hearing about the other series.
I'm Canadian and I only knew about the original Thomas the Tank Engine
I only remember being scared of the trains' weirdly human faces
Apparently the other series was short lived during the 80s as a way to bring Thomas to America.
Same man, same.
@Kiara Kloss Same here!

I remember finding the plot of this movie extremely confusing as a child and wondering the following:
Who is Mr. Conductor?
If Mr. Conductor's human, is he talking to a living toy figure when talking to Sir Topham Hatt?
What does Shining Time Station have to do with Thomas?
For what purpose was Diesel 10 built?
Why does falling scaffolding make the ground shake?
Why is Diesel 10 allergic to sugar? Or why not just empty his fuel tanks?
Why is Mr. Conductor talking to a ball and bat?
Why does eating vegetables make him shout a bunch of random words?
Why are rabbits sentient when they never were in this series?
Why are there flower phones in this universe?
Why are there so many boring humans in this Thomas movie?
Where are the other inhabitants of Sodor?
Why do I hardly see Thomas & Friends in this Thomas & Friends movie?
Where's Thomas?
Where's Thomas?

I always thought the same. Until I was looking after my brother a few months back and my mum had this on. I started to remember it and I was like "this was 90% of my childhood". Probably the reason I couldn't remember much was because of how confusing it was. It's nice to see it here though, definitely answers SO many questions

That even gave me nightmares. I even had a nightmare where Diesel 10 was chasing Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and I… and weirdly enough, I was told irl that a TH-cam video of Diesel chasing Harry and Ron was REAL!
…What kind of coincidence is that?!
It’s such a shame that Edward the Blue Engine didn’t appear in this movie. He was the first character ever made by the Reverend W. Audry! (The author of the Thomas books)

It's a good movie, when you're watching the Thomas parts. I even remember skipping over the strictly human parts as a kid in rewatch.
Honestly, that was me when I watched Shining Time Station as a kid. I know it's the show that introduced Thomas to America, but I never cared about the human scenes as I did with the Thomas stories.
didn't even need to suck, test audiences kinda gutted the human parts that were actually interesting.
It feels like the story of this movie is focused more on the humans than Thomas and the Island of Sodor, whom seem to be more like plot devices. But its still one of my favourite childhood movies, in any case.
Then you really had no sense of art when watching movies lol (not meant to be rude)
The only time I skipped was shining time
"Thomas falls off a cliff-" **ad interrupts**
If that was intentional or not doesn't matter, that's hilarious.

Man I remember loving this movie when I was like 5 or 6. As a matter of fact I had and still have a whole bunch of Thomas movies and toys. Now at 14, I really don't care any more. The older episodes were classics.
I use to be a huge fan of Thomas, back when I was about 6 years old, somewhere in Dallas they had a "Day with Thomas" kinda thing. I went to that, rode a couple trains, (which had the Thomas theme song looping constantly as background music.) and also got my picture taken with The fat controller or sir Toppom hat or whatever his name is. I still have that picture on my fridge.
But yeah, They had a tent selling episodes and DVD's of Thomas videos and stuff and my dad bought this one. So that's my take on it.
I'm from Oklahoma, and they used to bring the show here a lot to the train museum we have. So many memories and so many cool trains!
Discovering that Thomas & the Magic Railroad was a crossover has already shattered all understanding of reality my child self had.
I honestly love this movie. It was my childhood. Even if people hate it, I would watch this movie multiple times than watching the 25th season.
I forgot how this movie existed but when you were playing clips I slowly started to gain some remembrance of this film. Fantastic movie when I was a kid but obviously it isn’t as good as I used to think.
I would recommend you watch "The Magic Railroad" parody. It basically makes this movie make sense as well as having a boatload of adult humor. I would total recommend it!

Honestly, as a Thomas fan, I always knew there was something really off about this film. The music and model work are really nice, but my god is the story convoluted. The Thomas TV show was based off of a series of books called The Railway Series, whose author, the Rev. W. Yes, yes I remember this. Ah so much nostalgia. Also I'm an American that thrived on Thomas as a kid and never heard of Shining Time Station.
I remember watching this in theatres 20 years ago. I even bought the 20th anniversary Blu-ray
I know I watched this movie as a kid, but I don’t remember a SINGLE thing about it! As I’m watching this video, I’m seeing some scenes that are making me go “Holy shit! I DO remember that image!” It’s a VERY weird feeling.
I remember this, I still have most of my toys and are only just starting to sell them (I'M THIRTEEN!) but I too never knew that it was a precursor to another show in America (I live in the UK) but I remember 3 episodes specifically the one were Henry is blocked into a tunnel, the one were James is given a black and yellow paint job and the one were Percy is covered in chocolate. I also remember some of the later movies like misty island rescue, blue mountain mystery, hero of the rails and king of the railway. Oh, the nostalgia is flooding in. Also because my sister was into the show when she was younger(she was born in 2004) I was gifted many of the VHS tapes that she had so when I went to my grandma's house, I would watch them on her old TV which I still have in my room there today and I also managed to get the first ever episode. If only I could write forever like this on English topics.
