However, she wasn't asked to sing it at the 1978 ASG. Toni Tennille was. So this is about she and her husband playing and singing their little hearts out, without adding any drama or unnecessary notes to it. Also, bear this in mind: San Diego (location of the game) is a Navy town, so that calls for a rendition more on the conservative side than a showy spectacular like the Super Bowl. And that particular SB was during a time of National distress and concern over our military. Timing is everything. Toni was spot-on that day. And I had the privilege of telling her during the game, as my teen self was sitting in the row behind her!
