This follows on the heels of "Stablemates" (1938) which stars Mickey Rooney and the legendary Wallace Beery although it has a much meatier plot. Yes, it's sentimental at times but the plot line grabs and holds you right until the end. Adolphe Menjou was a giant of an actor and it shows, here. He steals the picture with a monumental performance. Thanks for unearthing this gem.
The enthusiasm of young people is precious - as Mason said, you can know a bit about a lot of things, or you can know plenty about one thing, the thing you're enthusiastic about. School can water down enthusiasm. Hearts can sense lies.
Whew! Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place. The billing, Menjou and Costello, caught my eye. They didn't disappoint. Young Daniel played his roll like a pro. Great supporting cast as well. Thank you.
There was a real success story like this. Though it wasn't a two dollar horse, it was cheap as horses go and for the success it had. It was bought for $17.5K in 1975 and went on to win the Triple Crown without being defeated earlier. It lost only two races in its later career. He made a fortune for his 4 owners who were modest people for the racing world.
Very well done quality direction & storytelling & visually pleasing. Thanks for posting!

Wow, what a heartbreaker. I’ve never seen a movie like this.
Anything with the suave Mr. Menjou and the angelic Ms. Costello I know I'll like.
🎥 Thank you 🥰👍🍿🥤🍫

Wha? I don't get it.
I hate this movie because it is a horrible story. I hate the mother. It's all wrong.
