Propagating Herbs Made Easy!

  • For herbalists, we often feel a lot of pressure to grow our own herbs - but I’ve never been great at having the patience for plants - not for lack of trying though.
Early on, a mentor told me that everyone has there own area of herbalism that they are better at - mine just happens to be formulation based upon the body’s energetic needs - they also encouraged me to stop putting so much pressure on myself to grow my herbs and support other’s who are better at growing them.
I liked that idea because y’all know how much I LOVE collaborations and building community. But I still longed to grow herb plants for personal use.
Each year I seem to get a little bit better at caring for plants - well at least getting them started - then my partner helps care for the full grown ones because I tend to over or under water (plus thanks to my neurospicy brain - object permanence is a bit of challenge)
Propagation has proved more successful than starting from seeds - which either don’t come up or seem to be grass 75% of the time - and it’s a lot more fun - not instantaneous but the plants get established quicker for sure.
By creating a little daily ritual of checking in with them - I’ve found that it also provides space for me to check in with myself - to pause - breathe - and relax without having to compose an email, write class handouts, or prep marketing materials. There’s certainly something to be learned by adding mindful moments into your life to nurture what you love - focusing on one task and what’s in front of you.
I encourage you to find something similar to add into your life that helps you #STOPBREATHEFEELCREATE
