    Don't be like that guy, always be nice to the dealer. They will eventually make a mistake short-changing you or putting your winning cards in the muck, and your polite manners will make sorting it all out easier. Blame the seat if you have to.

    The first time I ever played a pair of 3s I did it just for fun, flopped to a set and turn into quads. So my bets got progressively bigger and while everyone else fell off 1-2 at a time, the table shark who knew I stepped into the hand lightly followed right along with a raise every time. My $10 flippant bet turned into a very nice pot and when I showed on the end the guy screamed, "How could you play THREEs?" I asked if I'd broken some table rule and he exploded. Bummer for him but not a total loss, he did get invited to go dancing with security.

      For me, it would probably be player dependant exploitative betting. If he is a super tight nut peddler, I would probably make a small value/ handcuff bet/fold . Whereas against aggressive and GTO players, I'm absolutely check calling. I think sometimes we get so focused on the "correct" play ,that we forget about good old fashioned reading a mofo

      @@kennedybrendon3623 no completly wrong sorry man. its the other way around. it woudl be absolute GTO play to jam the river.
      we have to many polarized bluffs here so we can and need range merge here. the stacksizes are shallow way under 300/500BB, the SPR is about 1.
      its a clear cut must always jam or you have no bluffs ever in that spot.
      on the other hand your opponent will almost never bluff same time we will never fold top top in this spot to a jam of less or equal potsize.

    I think you played that Ace ten hand about as perfectly as it could have been played. The board was not ideal for jamming the river, and his smallish bet was perfect to call. If he had 2 pair or better, so be it, you still played it well.

    • @BrantzenPoker
      @BrantzenPoker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They’re alright, but the buyins are a little low. I try to sit down with 100 big blinds because it gives me more play. I believe the max buyin for 1/2 is 80 and the max buy in for 2/3 is $200

    • @topshelf1055
      @topshelf1055 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The low stakes start at a 40 buyin, they use to have a 20 buyin game but that was a long time ago. 40 is the starting point. Go in realizing there will be very loose plays and lots of potbuilding preflop because the rake is very high for the game. The 40 dollar buyin is very gamble gamble. I recommend going to the 200 dollar buyin, as you get the best bang for your buck. 200 buyin is probably the best stakes for your money at the gardens.

    I would say the vast majority of poker players check back with the 10-7ss for the same reasons you checked it over to him. Pretty bad bet on his part and you were lucky to get it. Might sound results oriented but because the nuts never changed and you would have gotten raised on the turn with a better hand, the river is a good spot for thin value.

    • @BrantzenPoker
      @BrantzenPoker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that’s what I was thinking at the time. I’m glad it worked out that he bet, but I didn’t know if it would be too thin to value bet there or if it would’ve been the better decision

    Honestly, with how many limpers and callers there seemed to be at that table, I'm not surprised the dude was slowly bleeding out. If you keep taking -EV actions, in the long run the players with the +EV actions are going to take your money. And with that sort of attitude at the end of a losing session, I have to imagine they're a pretty casual rec, because any half-decent player worth their salt - pro or otherwise - knows that you can't come out ahead every session.

    Its really good too see this. It means that you will never ever be able to loose in this game when people play shit like this.
    But yeah I cant imagine myself just calling against 1/3 since 1/3 bets on rivers in spots like this are fired only by complete fishes. Its never better hand than AT and would expect a lot of weaker Tx there.
