Great news, l am still using those exact settings even with the new coil and it runs pretty smooth, keep in mind that they are all individual devices so don't be afraid to tweak it and have a play on that first faint signal, time spent here can make all the difference, and most important--- Leave a couple for me, cheers chris, Russell.
Hi NM, spoke to you earlier this year. This is to let you know hubby & I dug up a 1.6 kilo ( 52 ounce ) gold nugget. It's in the shape of Australia. We spent 5 months detecting in every state. This was only our second season, so real novices. We found it in WA. Have good pics of find. Just wanted to share our good luck with you as you were our inspiration.
Cindy Kendall Gidday CK and Hubby, l cant stop smiling, such great news and exciting find, l would love to know how deep it was and type of signal, wish l could have seen your faces, without giving up too much l will post a photo at the very end of my next upload next wk, it may ring a bell, congratulations, cheers NM.
+TheNuggetMagnet Looking forward to your next upload. The nugget took us 2 hours to dig out, and it was 2 foot down in very hard cap rock. It screamed like the blazes from about 300ml down. I believe the Oct issue of Gem Gold & Treasure may run our story with pics.Cheers Cindy & Colin
Excellent, these settings worked well on a mates 5000 last yr, when you hit a deeper target (usually either a very faint signal or a low/high signal) thats the time to (before you even mark the ground) find YOUR detectors sweet spots, good luck and cant wait to hear what you find, cheers NM.
Hey Nm, The gold season is getting very close, it's that cool here at the moment feels like summer is over. Will def try those settings on my GPX 4500, cheers. Garry
Garry Irwin Gidday Gary, glad the weather is on your side and hope you are finding plenty of gold, look forward to hearing if those settings work well for you, l will be running late this yr but hope to be there by May, cheers for now NM.
Really appreciate the video. New subscriber from Arizona. I was wondering if you have to change any settings working in wet ground. It's been raining quite a bit here lately. Thanks!
Your welcome ED, l leave the settings as is, l experience a lot of false signals in wet ground, some very convincing, so its difficult to know which of them to retune on, usually after a quick scrape it becomes clearer but general rule is to dig until the signal disappears, cheers mate.
Thank you! I can use any bit of help I live near Prescott Arizona and it's been pounded pretty hard by some big names. I will try those settings this Saturday I've been playing with normal mode and deep I'll have to compare that to yours also all over TH-cam there are major fans of the Nugget finder line of coils then there's also some professionals that swear by the coil Tech Elite. Not sure what the advantages to either but I picked up the 18 inch mono Elite and the 9 in 😁 thanks again that's very nice of you sir. Also I have found nuggets sluicing dredging panning never detecting and I've been at it for almost 2 years but I'm digging some small small targets with my 4000 and some deep ones, hopefully the first one gets under the coil soon! 🙄
l hope its this Saturday mate, a nice ouncer, l use the nuggetfinder coils myself and find them effective but have never used Tech Elite so cant compare sorry, normal setting and enhanced mode should be compared on your next target to maximise your individual detectors best running mode, testing a lead sinker at various depths can also be used to check, both lead and gold being non-ferrous give off a similar signal, try burying the sinker into the side wall of a bank so as not to disturb the ground above, you could use a rod to make the hole, best luck tomorrow mate, cheers NM.
@@TheNuggetMagnet hello friend,I got back from our trip.I used the 9" elite because it was a very shallow area.I tried your settings and even far from power lines emi ect I got smooth threshold and occasional ground noise like a faint target, though I do have a 4000 so no stabilizer the best smooth threshold was your settings but intead of general in deep.still no first nugget but going to try down in the desserts next time..take care 😁
@@andyamysarizonaadventures5450 Gidday mate, you are doing all the right things and it can only be a matter of time, also run your detector in "normal" timings to compare on your next faint signal, every detector is individual and further experimentation with settings can be achieved on these faint signals to bring out the best of your machine, keep at it mate and best luck out there, cheers NM.
Cheers NM, very helpful. Tried using my 16" NF DD with the 5000 and it went nuts. Not sure how to tame that one down. I suppose as you say, just play with it and keep tweaking it. As always, your vids are timelessly relevant and so educational - thank you :)
Happy to help mate, l don't use DD,s but with patience it should run smooth, might be a night time job out in the field away from interference, look forward to seeing some nice finds so best luck and investigate every deviation in that thresh-hold, cheers mate, NM.

Gidday Graham, good to see someone tweaking those dials and experimenting, l might have to try that one myself, still here gathering in WA and will be editing and uploading in the coming months, definitely a couple of good finds coming soon, stay on the gold, cheers NM.
Great advice just picked up the 4500 so right to go now.. My settings were very similar to yours used it at Maryborough this weekend no gold but getting used to the machine even after 3 days.. Was finding small lead shots etc so hopefully my first Nugent soon cheers 🍻
Good news, lead shot is non ferrous just like gold, very similar signal, so if you are picking them up it should just be a matter of time before one turns out to be gold, you can even fine tune your detector on them, best luck and look forward to hearing of that first beauty, cheers NM.
Thanks for the info. I don't yet own a detector, but am in the process of choosing which to start with. Have you or anyone you know had Mods done to your detectors? If so, how would you describe the results, positive or negative. Thanks

Gidday Mike, the only change since that video was changing coils over to a 17x13" n/f from the 17x11" and the settings are still running smooth with the new coil picking up on more deeper targets, l hope you do well tomorrow and as the nuggets come in the coil will get bigger, cheers mate, NM.
+J Dean Gidday JD, they work well for me and l cant wait for that next faint signal so l can tweak them even more to bring out an even stronger signal if possible, its all trial and error but they are a good head start for you, all electrical devices have slight variations from tv,s to toasters so start there and fine tune every opportunity you get, even on lead sinkers if you cant get your hands on a nugget, testing is best done in undug ground so find a bank and go in from the side at various levels using a screwdriver or the like.
rve got a nice solid 3 grammer....4 testing.. How should i tune? whats the screw driver 4 ? to push a nugget in a vial into ground from the side at various depths to test? GREAT IDEA? TUNNG I NEVER THOTOF.....I LUV YU MAN@!
3 Grammer at twelve to eighteen inches should be a good depth for a test, you can vary the depths, and yeah a 2 to 3 ft vertical bank somewhere so you can make a hole in the side so as you are testing in undug ground, punch a hole with a screwdriver or something with a point so as not to disturb the ground too much and test away, l believe natural gold in the ground builds up an aura and can be even easier to detect than a planted nugget for testing, anyway use my settings then you can adjust the RX Gain and Stabilizer, change between Deep/General etc, Enhance/Normal or Special, you can customize your settings for different areas or ground types, its trial and error mainly as individual electronic gadgets vary slightly, there are many more tuning options in your menu also, practice makes perfect so have fun and you can always reset your machine and start again, good luck, NM. watch out for the SHARP setting cos it drains the battery.
No worries, most detectors vary slightly so dont be afraid to keep tweaking it from there on a faint signal, ground types and coil size all come into play and if it gets away on you - you can always press reset, have fun and let me know how you get on, cheers NM.
Awesome NM but out of interest why enhanced over fine gold? Is it so you can crank the RX/TX up a tad more than F/G? Or does it help with high min ground better. I prospect up a bit higher than you and loath dumbing 5000 more than I have too. I usually find myself dropping RX/TX down to cope with ground but hadn't considered enhance. Thanks for the vids their awesome and good luck for season.
3rtk2 Gidday, definitely enhance, l dont have the fine gold setting on my 4500, l rely on the faintest of signals to find my gold and with WA being so mineralised l find lowering the RX gives a smoother thresh-hold, l just have to listen harder, the best time spent is tuning in and playing with your settings on a deep target even though its difficult not to get excited and just start digging, good luck out there yourself and l hope it helps find more gold, cheers NM.
because of you I just bought a 4500 minelab detector from Kellyco in Florida the list price was $5,995.00 U.S. dollars today It is on sale for just $2699.00 U.S. what a deal Eh?

Hi there I have bought the new coiltek elite 14 inch here in Victoria great coil however I am having a terrible time with ground noise, can you help me please
Gidday, if your connections and lead are tight maybe try turning back the gain and stabilizer, if other coils run fine then it might be the new coil, its guess work really from this end so try another coil to rule it out and let me know, cheers NM.
+TheNuggetMagnet hi thank you for your reply I tried my coiltek gold stalker 14 inch oval have the same problem. I will try running in fixed today and bring the gain down. Each time I move the coil it gives faint signals making it very hard to hear anything on the ground. It's been seven days without finding gold.
Sorry your having problems cos its frustrating, check your power lead for damage, have you always had the same problems or has it just started? like most issues its down to a process of elimination, cheers NM.
+karen royce Because then the detector is constantly self balancing as the ground type changes, if it gets a bit erratic just hit your quik trac button, cheers NM.
are you aware if front switch is in enhanced it over rides back panel. meaning sensitive extra is in fine gold settings. If you go into enhanced that cuts it out. Love your videos

- Quick question: Where did you get the funky handle for your 4500? Mine is pretty trashed and I'm in the market for something a little more comfortable. Any info would be great. Cheers!
+Peter Tarca
No worries, glad you enjoyed,
The handle l bought from Clermont, QLD, the bloke at the detector shop should be able to help you out
ph (07 49832002) its comfortable and definitely stronger, ($85) good luck out there NM.
good video
My coil is commander DD please tell me the setting.
Gday mate Im having the same problem with my 4500 , did you sought yours out and if so what was the problem
Graat videos...we have been told to use fixed with regular ground balancing....why do you use tracking?
+karen royce
Because then the detector is constantly self balancing as the ground type changes, if it gets a bit erratic just hit your quik trac button, cheers NM.
+TheNuggetMagnet will give that a go...thanks
Try both on the next signal you get so as to decide whats better for your detector, cheers NM.
+TheNuggetMagnet ...NEXT SIGNAL...bring that on. My hubby would like to know the brand of your boots. His Rossi's are not cutting it. :)
karen royce
They are Redbacks, they contain no metal, cheers NM.
are you aware if front switch is in enhanced it over rides back panel. meaning sensitive extra is in fine gold settings. If you go into enhanced that cuts it out.
Love your videos
Gidday Peter, are you referring to the GPX 5000 or the 4500?, cheers NM.
The 5000 nit sure about 4500 as special settings were added to 5000.
Cheers
Are you aware that GPX 4500 is in the title of the Vidya and it's in regards to the settings as outlined by the title of the vid.
Hi, Plzz make vedio of minelab Gpx 3500 modified for deep coins hit
Thanks for sharing --
شكرا ممتاز جدا
I do not understand, I just watched several videos that say normal is by far more powerful? I am fairly new at pi machines ,thanks bud
Normal is far more powerful but it also picks up a lot more ground noise.
Gidday and best of luck hunting. You have me wanting to take trip WA. Does your government accept yanks poking around?
AH6OY Thanks mate, anyone can go detecting, cheers NM.
good aim KAS
What’s the name brand on ya grip
Its a home made handle so no brand, l got it through the Clermont detector shop yrs ago, you could try, cheers mate
great info!
J Dean probably becoming outdated now with the GPZ 7000 on the scene, didnt see that coming so soon!!, cheers NM.
NOT REALLY!!! helped me to understanding turning on a minelab for the first time! w/ you on this vid! seems pretty straightforward to me! I run my whites in manual and tune it hot ,,,, ie slyt pos on the downstroke
Fair call, with any luck l will get a deep target and be able to reset the 4500 showing the difference the settings make, long live the 45.
J Dean she
