Yours is a very early one. Made by Yamaki in Japan probably in '78. (although your s/n may start '80... the '78s started with 80! The actual bulk of the falcons produced, '79s and '80s etc have brass ring inlays, revised saddles, a 'harmonic lock' bridge (Allen head grub screws in the sides to lock the saddles together) rim mounted input jack as opposed to your front mounted one and slightly different tuners. You have an even rarer guitar than you thought. It's nice mate and well played! Do some Google image searches and compare your to 1980 specimens

I believe that the knobs are in fact original, I have a 1980 Washburn falcon as well and it is 100 percent original and the knobs look the same

The 80ies Washburn Falcons are defitely great guitars. I owned a rosewood model back in the 80ies. In Germany the Falcon was an insider tipp at this time. 10 years ago I managed to buy a natual maple model like the one featured in this video on eBay. Since than it's my favourit solid body guitar. great playability and long lasting sustain due to the throug body string and neck constuction. If you have the opportunity to aquire one you should check it out. Thanks for the demo video!

Washburn should bring back the Wing series instead of making Fender copies like they are now.
