Anyone else jump at that weird noise on the nursing home one?

  • @amandalambkin4777
    @amandalambkin4777 5 ปีที่แล้ว +740

    Okay, I've got one.
So, I was 19, living on my own for the first time (had roommates the previous year), and I had taken great pleasure in decorating my place. I even had this cute little wooden "Welcome" sign on my outside door (this will be important later). I'm a night owl, and had just gotten into this horror tv series called "The River," so naturally, I had stayed up late watching the latest episode. In it, the main characters were all mysteriously blinded, and followed by these hulking grey creatures, unbeknownst to them, obviously. This was seriously creepy, but I thought, "I'm a grown ass woman, not some paranoid child. I can handle a little horror content." So, I finished the episode at around 1:30am, and I figured I'd take a quick shower before bed. So I hopped in the shower, and when I closed my eyes to rinse my hair, I imagined these hulking grey things surrounding me like in the show. I laughed at my overactive imagination, and carried on with my shower. The thing was, it was storming outside, the kind of storm that tended to cause damage. So, just as I started to rinse my hair for the last time, the storm knocked the power out. Okay. Now I can't just open my eyes and prove to myself that these creatures aren't there. In fact, it's almost like I'm blind. Like the characters on the show. But, it's fine. This isn't the Amazon, this is northern Ontario. I'm fine. I laughed again. I dried off. And then, the banging started. Now, my bathroom was right next to the outside door. As in, I couldn't leave the bathroom without passing the outside door. And now, it sounded very much like someone was banging on my outside door. Forget the creatures, someone is trying to break in, I'm not imagining anymore! So I huddle on the bathroom floor, terrified, listening to this incessant hammering and trying not to cry. I sit there for quite a while. The banging is still going on, but no headway is being made. I'm starting to calm down now, and soon, the noise just stops. The storm is still going on, the power is still out, but maybe, just maybe, it's safe to leave my bathroom. I step out. I peek through the blinds on the door. Nothing. I sigh in relief. He's gone. I'm safe. It's 3am now, and I have class in the morning. I go to bed, and eventually, I sleep. The next morning, I wake up, and get ready for school, wondering what I'll find when I step outside. Will there be evidence of the attempted break in? I was a little excited at this point. So, I step outside, and notice that that cute little "Welcome" sign isn't on my door anymore. It's on the ground. And then I realised. There was no "attempted break in" after all. As the storm picked up, the wind must have picked up my sign, and repeatedly slammed it against my door. It stopped when a gust of wind came that was so strong, it picked up the sign from its hook, and dropped it on the ground. And, I had spent an hour cowering on my bathroom floor because of some wind.
TL;DR Nothing happened, and I'm an idiot.

hey, i'm glad you realized it was nothing, but in the future, if you're in that situation again, and it really could be someone breakin in or something, your first reaction needs to not be to lay on the ground of the bathroom and start crying for an hour and a half, ik it's scary and stuff, but you gotta at least call the police, get a weapon, or get your bf or whoever to go check it out/ be strong because doing nothing will get you hurt, i've seen it, hope this helps.

As in, in clear sight of whoever was on the other side. I didn't know what their reaction to seeing me might be. I thought, if they think no one's home, maybe they'll just take my tv and laptop, and leave me alone. That was probably stupid, but I was a stupid kid. I like to think that eight years have made me slightly less of a waste of human skin. Thanks though.

I sat there freaking out and I finally worked up the courage to go downstairs and see what was happening. I was home alone with my 3 yo (does that count?) and also pregnant.
We were in my room at the back of the apt. She left to go to her room (to the left) but looked toward the living room (to the right) first. She then turned around with her eyes huge with fright and said "there's a man in our house." Wtf. My blood ran cold, I grab my phone, dialed 911, and hovered my thumb over the call button. I peak around the corner and see nothing. I slowly enter the living room with my eyes and ears on high alert. Nothing. All the front rooms are empty and the door and windows are locked.
I went back to my room and ask my 3 yo what the man looked like. This is how she described him...
"He had long black hair with a feather in it, he wore boots, and...HE HAD NO FACE..."
Needless to say, I had her sleep in my bed that night.

I live alone in a 4 floor building that used to be a hospital before. I'm the only resident, with the occasionally visiting parents and brother. The landlord keeps the keys in my house, since no other room has still been renovated and is still an abandoned hospital, without any equipment or furniture. My landlord lives states away and has me take care of the building, you know cleaning and stuff, in exchange for a reduced rent. One night, I was walking up the stairs to my floor (I live on the 4th floor), and I saw a light turn on in a locked room on the 2nd floor. It was the old ICU, which still had a broken bed and a non-functioning medical ventilator. I checked the security cameras (which I had installed in the lobbies of all the floors, with the landlord's permission). No one entered or exited the room ever. It was impossible for anyone to do so, since the only keys to the room are in my safe, which was untouched.
I never found out what happened. It still chills me to this day, thinking about it.

The whole infrared thing is weird (but for all I know it's normal) , but what's really off is telling her to go outside when someone's trying to break into her house. Like, telling the police she's being assaulted would not help her at all until they got there because they were already responding to her location. So, I hear music coming from (in my favorite classical song) the other room, and think its some ghost. My step-grandma walks out and says she heard nothing. (She apparently was the only one not downstairs) Keep in mind, my father had just gotten engaged, and this was my first time spending the night with her. Fast forward, and this time she comes to visit us a bit after christmas, and gives me a present, and its a music box/snow globe, playing the exact music I had heard. She said she was looking at music boxes for me, and listening to them, trying to find the perfect one, and when I asked, she tried to play it off like she didnt know what I was talking about.

Now this probably isn’t too creepy for most people but one time I went to take a nap and my bedroom wall is basically right next to the hallway. The house is pretty old so you can hear what’s happening on the other side of the wall. My apartment is the only apartment on the top floor so no one ever goes up there except for me, but that day I could hear someone coming up the stairs. Which was the first thing that made anxious little me nervous. And then it happened: Someone tried to unlock my door. For a few minutes. I was too terrified to go to the door so I couldn’t do anything about it. They only left when my neighbor came home and started walking up the stairs to his apartment. They came back a few hours later and tried again, this time they left sooner. And since then nothing has ever happened but holy moly. I’m a young, not very strong woman with an anxiety disorder in her first apartment, I slept with one eye open for a few weeks after that and still get nervous when someone is in the hallway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know the feeling, I once looked outside at 3am to see someone in my backyard, I convinced him to leave when I chambered a round as loudly as I could in my open window. I recommend a cheap pump shotgun, not for shooting but for the sound it makes when you pump it, that should scare away most people. If firearms aren't legal in your country/city I would go for pepper spray, a dog, and or a baseball bat. Anyways thanks for the story and stay safe.

@@jwsndjejek466 That is a excellent recommendation, but when I suggested the pump shotgun I hoped that learning how to use it and having the will to defend yourself with it was implied. What I meant to say is that the sound of a racking pump shotgun in my opinion would indicate to anyone trying to breaking in, that someone is inside, armed, loaded, knows you're coming and is ready to defend themselves. I think that anyone would think twice if they heard that pump sound coming through the door they are trying to break into. It's a message that other guns like a cocking double barrel or .38 special just can't send as clear. That's why I suggested the pump shotgun over other firearms, the racking sound speaks a universal language and it says "GO AWAY OR DIE!" very clearly. Now if the OP is a "not very strong woman" like she says she is, maybe a shotgun isn't the best for her in a firefight, but a pump shotgun may allow her to scare away the intruder before she needs to start shooting.

One time I got home from school and was just chillin with my 2 dogs; I take the bus home and my parents usually get home a couple of hours later, so there’s a good chunk of time where I’m alone. Anyway, I hear someone walk up the driveway towards the garage and the dogs go crazy with barking, but they stop when they hear the person leave. Usually it’s a package or something and the mailman leaves the package in the garage (which is always left open; I live in a pretty safe neighborhood and we don’t have to worry about the weather normally), so I wasn’t concerned at first. Just to be safe though, I usually listen to see if they walk back down the driveway, regardless of who or what it is. I didn’t hear anyone walk back down from the driveway, but didn’t think anything of it until I notice that the dogs weren’t backing down. After 15 minutes or so with the dogs still on high alert, I figured something was up and (very stupidly) opened the kitchen door (which leads directly to the garage) to scan the garage just to be safe. At this point the sun was setting, so the light wasn’t very good, and I hadn’t turned the light on before checking. Peeking my head out of the door I look around and don’t see anything peculiar until I’m about to close the door. In the darkest corner of my garage, there was an (assuredly homeless) guy, silently sitting there, watching me. It was clear that he wasn’t all there, and, looking back on it, I’m convinced that he was on drugs or severely mentally ill. Being the idiot that I am, and somehow being so freaked out that all of the adrenaline preventing me from thinking straight, I confront him. He asked if he could come in, and after being refused, requests if he could just chill in the garage for another hour or so. Still refused. After a short exchange of strange conversation, he sauntered down the driveway and I proceeded to call my dad, not knowing what else to do. He was a few minutes away from home at that point, so he came home and we ended up calling the police and giving a rough description of the guy (it wasn’t too accurate because the best view I got of him was in my dark garage). We weren’t updated on the case or anything cause I didn’t want to be involved in it anymore, but I’m assuming he was caught and got help or something. It’s been over a year and I haven’t seen him since thank god, so it was most likely taken care of. It was a weird evening.
TLDR; probably drugged homeless guy hangs out in my garage when I’m home alone, tries to have me let him stay there, and walks away when I refuse. Police were called, and I have no clue where this guy is now.

That's really freaky and not to lecture you but your family should stop leaving their garage up. A rlly common way of break-ins is to break into a car and steal the garage opener and then just get into the garage, close it, and bang open the garage connector door to the house so it looks like nothing is happening on the outside. My family installed a pinpad lock on our garage door because we left it unlocked and unchained all day to come home easily. The locker can be switched to always open or always locked and we just keep it on always locked and all know the keycode. Your family keeping ur garage up just kinda gives super easy access to break in during the day.
Also yeah I live in a relatively safe neighborhood too, til a year ago some asshole down the street started selling drugs and now we have a TON of strangers in and out of our secluded area and a lot more weirdos. U dunno what your neighbors intentions are I'd be worried lol.

      @adhdhikaru 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Average Cat Person where I live, garage doors are pretty rare. It’s a lot more common to just have a sheltered (but open) area to keep the rain off your car, and the connecting door is secured with a deadbolt and the like.
Edit: it’s more of a car port than a garage, and I discovered we don’t even have a garage door in the first place. Go figure.

I'm not gonna say anything creepy, but I've got something funny for you that happened not long ago today. So my parents left, I went on my computer and booted up discord. Chatted for like 4 hours till it was 1am. Parents still weren't back.
Just joined an exclusively four-people vc missing one person, joined in with messages for a while.
Then my friend wanted to join so we moved to a vc that could handle 99 people.
    Thus the madness began.
First, a few people joined, and we decided to do a sort of mini karaoke. So some people sang. People joined.
Then we got one of the music bots and played some music. People joined. People left. People requested music.
So we were blasting a lot of Panic! At The Disco, and High Hopes came on.
I didn't want to leave the vc but I didn't want to listen, so I got the genius idea of getting the other music bot to play more P!ATD over High Hopes.
    Thus chaos ensued.
At first, it sort of synced, in a weird sort of way. Then came the choruses.
Oh my god. It was as if Satan and Tash and whatever evil god you believe in had descended. And then all the people (there were about 50 people by now) started screaming and yelling and flooding the main text chat with messages and laughing and oh my god
I laughed at the music. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. I laughed so hard I cried out all my week's supply of tears. I couldn't stop. I was gasping for breath. Every time I managed to stop, I just kept beginning to laugh again. oh god
Now it's 3am and my lungs feel shredded and my eyes sting from all the tears.
It was a beautiful moment. It was wonderful. It was magical.
Would do again 1000000000/10 would recommend to a friend 100% very pleased with service
    -new cry level achieved! congrats!
please try adding "I write sins not tragedies" and "high hopes together". Start "I write sins not tragedies" after the very first line he sings in High hopes.
Make sure to do it in a very loud and obnoxious discord vc (it wasnt like that before, but mean people joined)
Good luck, and warning: you may cause permanent damage to your lungs laughing.

Ok, I’ve got one, I have no idea how to explain it and I know how fake it sounds but I swear it’s real.
So, if you know anything about Native American legends, you might’ve heard of skinwalkers. They’re evil witches and spirits that turn into animals or people to cause harm. Well, at the lake I spent the majority of my childhood we have another name for them: Deerians. The story goes that when settlers first came to the lake they encountered an oddly hostile tribe of natives, and the settlers got tired of them and tried several times to ambush or attack the village but it was always abandoned, instead inhabited only by deer. Sometimes they never returned home, and they’d be found days later, mauled to death by something, but the only tracks they could find near the body belonged to a deer.
    But that’s not my story.
My dad and I were going canoeing down to the river that connected to the west side of the lake because my cousin had gone down that way earlier that day and saw a bald eagle nest and my dad and I wanted to see it for ourselves, but as we approached the river we saw this doe, and she was acting really weird. Like, she didn’t run away from us and was actually acting really hostile. And as we got closer the more you could tell this deer was just wrong. It kinda looked like some kid had read about deer once in a book then drew one from what little he understood. My dad and I got so close we could almost touch her but then she just wandered off this jerky, disjointed walk into the woods. My dad and I decided she wasn’t that much of a threat, probably just a deformed deer.
Anyways, not much long after my dad and I were paddling down the river and I heard something rustling in the tall grass to my right. My dad didn’t notice but I kept listening, and then the thing in the grass whispered, giggled, then scuttled off into the underbrush. I was kinda surprised but didn’t know what to make of it so I just kept my mouth shut and kept paddling.
We eventually stopped to rest and we were looking for the eagle nest when we noticed that the forest around us had gone totally quiet, then all around us there was whispering and hyena-like cackling.
My dad and I noped the fuck out of there and after we were out of the river we were catching our breath when someone or something threw an arrowhead at me, kind of like they were trying to mock me, and when I looked back at its source all I saw was a buck walk into the underbrush. It was the most unnatural and creepy thing I’ve ever experienced. Ever.

    Sure, I've got one:
So this was back at the start of high school (middle school by American standards I think) and it was one of the rare days that I was allowed to stay home sick, since my mother is pretty strict about attendance, and figured that if you're healthy enough to play video games, you're healthy enough to go to school. Never mind the metric shit ton of tissues I'd have to constantly blow my nose with in class...
Anyway, back on topic... This time was apparently bad enough to warrant me staying home according to mum, so you can imagine how sick I was. I was feeling in a pretty fucking vulnerable state at the time. And to make matters worse I had only just reached the age where my parents felt comfortable enough to leave me at home alone, so it was like the third time I'd ever experienced that.
So as I'm watching TV in the lounge room, I notice movement through the blinds on the window. I can see the figures of two men dressed in black moving around our garden. Me being alone and sick as fuck, I internally freak out. But I keep an eye on them as they pass by the window and around the side of the house. I follow them from room to room since all the blinds are shut, so they can't see me.
Eventually they are standing out the back of the house, and since the back door is the sliding glass type, it doesn't have blinds, so in order to stay hidden, I hide in the kitchen and duck behind the kitchen counter. I even grab a kitchen knife, and just hide, waiting for whatever happens to happen. They don't approach the door, they're just talking out the back at this point. So I grab the phone from the counter, and call my mom. I tell her there are two men dressed in black outside the house...
And then she starts apologizing profusely because apparently she'd forgotten to tell me that dad would be showing a man around the back of the house that day to get a quote for fixing the septic system. One of those men was my dad, and the other was a man from the septic company. I have bad eyesight, but at the time it wasn't bad enough to warrant wearing my glasses all the time, so I couldn't make out who they were from that distance, and I could only see their figures through the blinds.
So I was just there, crouched behind the kitchen counter with a runny nose, a phone in one hand, and a kitchen knife in the other, feeling like a complete fucking twat.

So I wasn’t completely alone because my brother was upstairs in his bedroom at quite a distance, but I knew I was the only other one there, and the only one downstairs. I went downstairs and headed into the kitchen to get something to eat, but heard something like footsteps making the floor creak, so I stopped in the hallways. The noise stopped. I kept walking and heard it start again but it sounded as if it was coming from the laundry room (just to the left of the kitchen, covered by a curtain). It creeped me out a bit, so I stopped in the kitchen and kind of stared towards the laundry room waiting. The noise stopped, so just as I realized it must be me making the floor creak- I hear footsteps again, before I even had the chance to move. It sounded like heavy footsteps, like someone wearing boots was slowly walking in the laundry room. I wanted to see if someone was inside but I was too scared to lift the curtain, so I ran upstairs as fast as I could and got my brother. He came down with a bat and we searched the whole house. All the doors were locked. We never found anyone, and I never heard it again. But to this day, I’m still sure I heard something.

I wasn't alone but it was just me and my little brother and it had just gotten late. So I was downstairs making a sandwich and I heard the door that leads to the garage being violently shaken. Like someone was really trying to force it open. I ran over to the door with my mayonnaise knife and I noticed that the doorknob was being turned quickly and I freaked out. I went upstairs to get my brother and when we came back down the door wasn't shaking anymore and I called my parents work numbers so they both came rushing home (we didn't call the police. They told me to call the police but I just didn't). They got home, checked the whole house and there was no sign of any break in. The garage door itself was still closed and the side door was still locked. There was no way anyone could have gotten to that door at all. There was no way anyone was there. Turns out I have Schizo-affective Disorder and it was just a hallucination but damn man that shit was terrifying

I got one!! This was almost 3 years ago.
I just got home from school (I lived in an apartment at the time so remember this!) and I was doing my usual routine (having a snack letting my dog out, etc) it was a pretty normal day. My sister usually picks me up from the bus stop which was quite a walk away. After she had picked me up we walked back to my house and then my mom came home, they left to go get dinner so I decided to stay home. I was just watching Netflix on my TV when there was a knock at the door, me being 11 I was terrified. I slowly turn off the TV and grab my dog, I tell myself that the knocking will stop and its probably just a package. It didn't stop, in fact it got louder, almost like banging now. I get scared obviously so I just sit on my couch crying. I then notice that the door knob starting moving and jiggling like someone trying to get in. I grab my dog and RUN into the bathroom and call my mom, I tell her what's going on and she says its going to be ok. After that she tells me that shes going to call the apartments main office (this is where the bus drops me off, right in the front of it) I say ok, I was crying at this point and SHAKING, she calls me back and tells me that the office said said it was the fixer guy trying to come in to fix our dishwasher, I sigh in relief and go and let him in. He obviously notices I was crying but doesnt say anything.
So yeah i freaked out the fixer guy and thought he was trying to break in :)

When I was younger, I was in my moms bed watching tv with her before I went to bed. Her door was open, and you could see pretty much the whole upper floor through the doorway. As we're sitting there watching tv, there was a man with a red plaid shirt, a toque and some jeans on, he looked like a lumberjack, he comes walking up our stairs, turns the corner, walks down the hallway and walks into my sisters room. It was so unnerving because he just had such a calm, collected appearance. He was looking down the whole time, but it almost looked like he didnt have a face. Me and my mom both immediately got up out of the bed and she led the way into my sisters room. All the lights were off, she was asleep in her bed, and the guy was nowhere to be found. I got one. Once I saw a very small figure in the bedroom window, he tapped once and I looked outside. Nobody was there. I lay back in bed thinking it was rain or something. After a a couple of seconds, I heard two taps on the window and the figure moved away again. I started freaking out. I hid under my cover, trying too sleep until I heard THREE taps on the window. I was gonna shit myself I was so scared. I looked out the window to look down at the window on the roof of my living room to see my mum watching TV. I walked to the bathroom, looking in the mirror to see if my face was blurry. (I do that to check if I'm seeing things) then I saw a shadow moving behind me. I stood still but the shadow still moved. It wasn't my shadow. I heard feet tapping the floor four times. I turned to look down at my mum's dog, Teddy. He was making the noise the whole time. I was such a scaredy cat. My dog was lying beside the window, hitting it with his tail and the reflection was him lying down. But still, why did he come up to watch me?

I started covering my window with a blanket. My mom would get upset because my room was very dark in the daytime. So sometimes I would walk into my room and the window would be uncovered. Seeing the window uncovered at night would send chills down my back as I didn’t know who or what kept knocking on my window.

OMG that first story...same thing happened to me. It was early morning and I heard someone trying to get in my door. I damn near flew out of bed when the first lock of two unlocked. As a woman living alone I was in full panic mode. I ran to the door and relocked it just as they got the second lock unlocked, then put on the chain as well and yelled "How do you have keys to my door!".
Turns out the building I lived in had an unreliable elevator, and they were trying to go to the empty apartment above me to do renovations, but the elevator let them off a floor early.
They had my keys, and keys to all the apartments because the person unlocking my door was the landlord.
My door was labeled, they just didn't take notice of it.
As for scariest story...I was waiting for a game to load...one of those fb connected games. It was taking a bit and suddenly heard a noise behind me. it's weird that it's' like it didn't register at first...I heard it twice before finally realizing on the third time that it was the sound of a child saying "mommy".
I don't have kids, there are no kids here. I hear it again, louder...right behind me. I sit there paralyzed in fear...then just turn around quickly before I can change my mind.
Nothing there. Then I hear it behind me again...I'm facing away from my computer, and my computer is at a wall. I turn back and its coming out of my speakers. I crank the sound down until it is almost off...no sound can be coming out...and yet I hear it again.
I turn my speakers off completely and just sit there...it stopped.
    The game is still loading.
Found out some time later that the building next door, in the direction I was originally sitting, lived a little girl. She snuck out one morning to watch the 'big kids' get on the bus and got hit by a car and died. No one lived in that building since before we had moved to the block (but since then its been renovated and people live there now) so it happened years before, probably when I was a kid.
Oh and in the same room I heard a dude say "Good night" as I was getting ready to go to bed. I left the room in terror (though it seemed a friendly enough gesture) and watched as my cat looked at and sometimes flirted with something invisible close to the ceiling in that room.
I'm sitting in that same room right now. Eeek

I can't find the reddit thread or I would post there. I was watching my niece and nephew, just sitting on the couch while they were sleeping. Suddenly I see the screen door open but thankfully not the actual door, and then the sound of someone lightly knocking, very lighty, like they were just tapping on it. I scream for them to identify themselves and that I would not open the door. The screen door closes and then opens again with the same tapping. Again, I yell for them to identify themselves and that I'm getting a gun. The door shuts and the tapping stops. The next day my sister mentions that her son saw a "monster" at the door. It was probably a meth addict from down the street.

Luckily I am armed and her backyard neighbor heard it as well. He is a state police officer and he came running over with his side arm. It turned out to be a drug addict who was hiding in the woods near by and had a bunch of warrants already.

We where on vacation and got a cabin, I have a hard time sleeping, especially in new places. The first night I hadn’t fallen asleep till about 6 or 7 in the morning, so my family left to go get food and such and let me sleep. It was around I woke up around 1-2pm and when I found the note my family left I decided to lay on the back patio since it was late April so it was getting warm, when I went to go open the door it wouldn’t open, I freaked out and tried to call my mom, I had left my phone inside. I sat and cried for a few minutes until I realized I didn’t turn the door handle.
I then went inside to get food, I put a bottled water on the banister going to the basement, as I was searching through the bare cabinets I hear a vibrating noise and a loud crash, the the loud sqeaking the stairs made when you walked on them, I started freaking out, when I went to investigate my phone had vibrated, knocking the bottle of water off the banister, the sqeaking noise was the water slowly rolling down the last few. Let’s just say my family laughed at me.

So I was home alone, since my parents and my sister went to a party, and I couldn’t go because I was sick and it was night, and very damn cold. Also my room door is right in front of my bed. Remember this. Anyway, since I was sick (had a cold), I had like 2 water bottles by my side. I wasn’t doing anything, just watching TH-cam and tv. Well, after that one of the water bottles falls to the floor, but I didn’t think much of it because I have a little table next to my bed and it’s a bit crooked, but I swear, it fell like someone pushed it off. And remember how I said my door was in front of my bed? Well my fucking door knob starts turning around like someone was trying to open it, I was scared as hell at that moment. I just stayed there, couldn’t do anything and then I couldn’t sleep for like the next two hours. Story 1:
Once while home alone at my aunts place I heard a noise come from upstairs, like as if someone was walking around. Now I knew no one was in the house other than the dog who was in the kitchen (with me) I bring scared VERY easily stopped what I was doing and listened carefully. Now the place I live is safe but it can be dangerous at times and my aunts upstairs window is not hard to get to so I was shaking. I didn't call for help but got two knifes and waited by the kitchen door for/ if the robber came down. My mother came home half an hour later to see me with a two knifes in my hands and no one was upstairs :/
    Story 2:
I lived in an apartment 1 room, bathroom and main room with kitchen and living room. I was home alone and had been on my phone for a good few hours. I then needed to go to the bathroom and just after I finished in the bathroom I heard the most aggressive sound of someone opening my balcony door and loudly walking around my apartment. I had left my phone in my room and was scared shitless (as always). I stayed in the bathroom until my mom and sister came home and again no one was there.
I honestly don't know why these things happen. It isn't happens way too offend and I have heard multiple times people walk in my room even though no one has and I am staring at the door :v

the feeling still comes back sometimes, and i'm not sure what causes it. could it be stress or something? cause i would rather it be anxiety than the other option lol

My great grandma passed away for like 2 minutes. My grandma wept beside her bed and then my great grandma opened her eyes and said something along the lines of paradise, doves, angels and God.

One night when I was at a hotel (part of a two-day road trip) I remember someone trying to get into the room. Luckily, the deadbolt was securing the door but I remember the person banging the door and trying to slam it open, and being too terrified to move. They might’ve just been drunk but it was still creepy that they were so forceful trying to get in. To this day I can’t stand hotel rooms

I was always left alone in the morning in my teens, my mother and step father both left for work early. I get woken up by a phone call, says it's the police department and there is an officer outside and to go talk to him. I literally had no idea what the reason can be, but I lived in a good neighborhood so I trusted the police there.
I let him in and was asking what was up and he said the police department got a call that my step father shot himself. If he had it wasn't inside since a gunshot would of woke me up, but I showed the cop the house anyway just to be sure. While I pretty calm about it all, my heart was racing and I had a big adrenaline rush over it.
His truck was in the driveway which was strange since he should be at work. So I told cop maybe he was in his workshop (There was a one room building in the back yard he made wooden stuff in to sell online) but he wasn't there either. So me and the cop checked through the property and found nothing. After some time we saw him walk out of the woods like nothing happened.
They talked for some time and the cop had to leave after that. Apparently an online friend called the police because he said he was going to shoot himself. My mother returned (I called her after letting the cop in) and was hysterical.
After explaining he got layed off (This was 2008 and he worked construction) he said he had told the guy he _felt_ like shooting himself. My mother could tell when he was lying so she knew he actually said he was going to, especially considering he NEVER walked through the woods, we concluded he went there to do it and didn't go through at the last second.
After that he got colder and grew more distant, started having affairs, and other generally negative traits. Him and my mother divorced, both agreed on it (she, fully aware of the affairs, asked if he had found someone yet, guess she was waiting so she didn't leave him on his own or something). She offered to keep ties if he wanted, but he wanted nothing of it. He cut ties even with his own side of the family. We did see an article of him being arrested for selling counterfeit goods once, so I did some online research, guess he turned to a life of crime in general after moving back to the city.
A shame. I was not that fond of him since he was kind of an asshole even before the incident and I was already 12 when they got married, so he was never "daddy" to me, so I wasn't very upset about it, but I would not of wished that on him at all.
The phone call and series of events because of it was certainly the most crazy thing to happen to me while I was home alone.

When I was 7. A man came to my home when I was left alone. It was probably the only time I ever stayed alone at home but. A man came over and talked to me, and i don't remember how he convinced me to open the fence door and let him in. Then Ro started barking. Ro was a rottweiler that was nearly as tall as I was in his four legs. This I remember clearly. The man asked if the dog was loose. Thing is only my great grandfather can handle Ro in the house, so when he is out. Ro is chained till he gets back. So I, in all my innocent honesty, I told the man that Ro was chained even tough he would snap the chain from time to time but, he was a really nice dog. He was chained only when daddy (great grandfather) wasn't home because he knocked the fence between us and the neighbor once. That was all true. The man just said he would come back another time and left. I never even told my family about him. I just happened to remember this history at a later age and tough it was creepy.

Was watching Grave Encounters with a friend and suddenly something fell in kitchen (only 2 of us were in the house), we paused the movie and sat still for like 3 mins trying to comprehend the situation, then i decided to check the kitchen and saw a colander and water on the floor
    The thing is...
Colander was in the sink at first..... like how is this even possible?

Last year, for about 2 weeks, every night at 12AM ish, I'd hear someone knocking on my bedroom window (same amount of knocks each night) for about 10 minutes, i sleep on the second floor, and there are no trees or anything near my window that could've been knocking on it. It sounded exactly the same as when you knock on glass with bare knuckles. Eventually i got sick of being scared, so i grabbed a knife and opened the window to see who/what was knocking on my window every night. BuT there was nothing there. I told my mum and she went outside, but she couldn't see anyone either. That carried on for about one more week, and then suddenly stopped. I haven't heard it since. But 3 weeks after that, the exact same thing started to happen to my friends. One of them lives 10 minutes away from me, the other lives 2 hours away?!

First time staying home alone overnight, I was 16. Someone broke in, started screaming at me, cussing, blocking my way to get out and such. (He was a mentally ill family member that I hadn't seen in years.) I called my brother sobbing after I somehow distracted this guy. My parents came back home, escorted the guy out, no on got hurt. I'm 22 now and cannot stay alone overnight. I have panic attacks whenever I'm home alone. I'm constantly on guard and it's exhausting and terrifying. My boyfriend and I just bought a house, and it's gonna be a hard change for me being in a new place.
