I'd love to see a video comparing the efficiency of Phantom Ray in like, 4 different scenarios. 1.) Plain phantom Ray with neither burst or high explosive. 2. Phantom ray with burst but not high explosive. 3. Phantom ray with high explosive but not burst. 4. Phantom Ray with both burst and high explosive. Testing against a mixed field of chaff and single units, as well as against heavy chaff fields and against heavy giant fields. May be more work than it's worth, but I'm genuinely curious to see how this unit functions under these circumstances. It seems like it has the potential for a lot of variety of plays.
A Fever of Phantom Rays (fever is the name for a group of stingrays). Could also be a haunting of phantom rays, because phantom is similar to ghost/spirit
@WhoopedGG a couple ideas: A Genesis of Phoenixes for playing on reincarnation A flight, soar, or a brood of phoenixes for playing on the bird theming Other random words that come to mind: blaze, whirl, spear Phoenix makes me think of way too many options lol
Those were some fun games. In game 2, I wonder what would happen if your opponent just built mustang the whole game and got range/AA/AP. I feel like that would have been good into the Phantom Rays.
Three tech the Mustangs + the chaff probably would have been really good. That being said, they do level pretty easily so I could pop Armor Enhancement and although he'd still do damage, it'd slow it down. But ultimately as long as he had enough chaff, he'd clear it with the Mustangs imo
@@WhoopedGG You did not. What do you think the guy in the last round should have done, to win with his lead he had? Maybe marksman with emp and anti air in the back? I am a little afraid to play against someone who just puts as much air on the board as you did and also find no perfect answer.
It'd be nice if you had Farseer or Marksman with EMP. If you have leveled Stangs, then Range + AA + lots of chaff will do the trick. Honestly the main thing is to just make sure they are hitting chaff and not your vulnerable units. If they have the Oil tech, then maybe you can work toward Phoenix. They're actually not bad to go against.
Interestingly, I think the Electromagnetic Blast was not that bad. It turned off the tech for some of them. But kept it for others so it ended up with a mix of burst and default.
Mustangs don’t shoot or move while they are trying to hit missiles, unlike sabers and farseers. Also, AM in general really sucks against fast moving missiles(farseer, boats, phantom ray). So if you are facing storm spam, AM stangs are good, but treat them as chaff, do not level them up, they will feed more xp and not perform any better. Otherwise, stangs should be used for damage, and if your stangs are leveled, you can really reduce their damage by getting AM. $100 anti missile devices are really strong if you can keep them round after round. The same investment into 3 stangs with AM can get you 8 AM devices, and 3 extra deployments that will actually be useful.
First game is a classic case of trying multiple responses to the same problem so none of them worked. As well as inadequate chaff and chaff clear. In short, a 800 mmr game. We all were there at one point. Just got to learn the game Phoenix Melter Overlord Farseer Fortress AAM
Fortress aam is not good. I played again such tactics. I used phoenix / mass fortress against rays with shields. The 5 fortresses could not kill the shields of i think at least 10 (10x3) rays. The phonixes are good against them but against shields they strugle. The best are farseers but it is a drop unit. If the enemy dont have armor stangs/typhone is good. If he dont have shield phoenix is the best choice. If he has shield and armor it is gg. Ray needs a big nerf
BTW what worked for you on the last game was the cloaking tech. When you cloak the enemy can't shoot you but they still track you, that way his mustangs clustered and waited for ther PRs to UNCLOAK and you burst was working due to the sheer volume. The guy was so much in FULL PANIC MODE that he clicked AM tech, witch btw dose not work vs PR rockets due to the speed and distance mind you let alone vs burst mode xDDDDDDD
@@Bandit-do4ko to justify that, you really can't beat people with higher skill level lol. I am only 1500 mmr, if I see this shit, I would be so happy, fang crawlers and mass single target boom thats the game.
I don't like smurfing either. I wouldn't create an account just to go against lower MMR players. I can definitely see where you're coming from, as I don't feel particularly good when the difference is pretty noticeable. That said, my account isn't new. I've had it for months. The reason I'm at the MMR I am with this account is because of the rules I abide by when I play. And as a consequence, I lose a lot lmao. So it's not that I keep it low to play against lower players; it's that I am this MMR with this account. I hope that makes sense.
Hm, an idea would perhaps be casting live matches between top tier players? It would make for some good background / second monitor videos to watch . Also you wouldn't need to do it like an in-depth review like the others where you take over the players and show different scenarios. Edit : Nevermind, just saw your casting playlist
Surprised you didn't even consider High Explosive- they're such efficient sneaky giant killers but get so bogged down by chaff. Hurts to see them killing one or two fangs/mustangs per volley
High Explosive on Rays is actually a really good pocket pick, it turns them into chaff obliterators and you can offset the -40% damage with cloak tech. It's a great option to bring in with them!
I feel the problem with the rays in the second game was with them horizontal they all shoot at the same 1 mustang which takes forever to clear. If you deploy them vertically would they stagger since after the first one shoots the mustang dies before the other 2 in the pack can shoot it?
I had a game earlier where Burst Mode was going absolutely nuts against multiple Fortress. But I can definitely see situations in which it being not the greatest.
In theory, the argument is that if you get Range, it makes Cloak less effective because there will be more units within its targeting range. I thought the same thing. When testing it though, I like Range a lot.
I understand where you're coming from. I don't like the idea of smurfing either. I wouldn't create an account to purposely go against lower level players. I've had this account for months. The reason my MMR isn't higher is because I abide by the rules I set, which means as a result, I lose quite a bit. If I played 18, 19, or 2,000+ MMR players like on my main account, I would get slaughtered trying to do this. I'd get slaughtered by a 1600. But I also wouldn't be at that level due to the rules I'm following. This is the account's legitimate MMR. This is my challenge account. It should also be noted that I do this for light-hearted fun. For a more competitive experience, look for the videos with green on the thumbnail--like my primary series, Win or Learn to the Top 100. For these, I just try to have some fun playing Mech, do some stuff I wouldn't typically do, and hopefully create an entertaining video. That said, it's not for everyone though. So if it isn't your cup of tea, I totally get it.

Great video again! A local food bank would be really cool! Or some sort of coat drive with winter coming up!
Man your outro song is such an earworm, can't get it out of my head
Haha have you heard the chaff song yet? "Chaff to break the battle lines. Chaff to make the others whine. Always buy that chaff, buy more chaff.."
Congratulations on the 2k dude! I started watching a month back and love the content and way it’s edited. Awesome to see you getting further along!

burst mode completly countered the anti missile, his mustang where just not shooting any units.

The second guy had the perfect counter and then added inferior aa arclights. Mmmmm
And then the typhoons. Nook just build more stangs. Even without aa they just live so much longer
Yeah, if he just would have committed to the Stangs and chaff. But I respect the effort. Very close.
